Re: Former Metroid Prime Engineer Admits He Was "Disappointed" With The Wii's Specs

Andrew5678

It's a fair reason to move on since his job is focused more on the technical side of this. This wasn't back with modern "innovations" which is just polishing pixels to impress the 5 other people willing to shell out for 90K resolution. Stronger hardware meant that there were more possibilities at the time.

In retrospect, I kind of like Nintendo's approach better. While their approach limits what 3rd parties can bring to the console (when they really want to give it a fair shot) it feels like we're reaching a zenith point when it comes to what more powerful hardware can bring. Beyond the graphics, there are a lot of cases where it feels like what's being done doesn't really need a major boost in technology to occur.

Re: The Switch Is Here To Stay, Says Nintendo Boss Shuntaro Furukawa

Andrew5678

Nintendo's got six or seven brand new games for Switch next year including Pokemon, Splatoon, and Kirby, and the console is hitting 100 million too. Launching a new console entirely would be silly, and combined with hardware shortages, they have every reason to focus on Switch's software. I remember the OLED announcement causing sales to slow down, so announcing a new console while their current one is doing well would gut their numbers.

I understand the argument for more power, but 90% of the time devs do not use said power to create game experiences that couldn't have been made on weaker hardware. They just make the games look better, and most AAA titles get trounced by the best of the N64 in terms of fun factor.

Re: Nintendo Is Eager To Utilise More Franchises For 'Visual Content' Like Movies

Andrew5678

Not the first thing people think of, but if they want to try something without breaking the bank, I'd love to see Nintendo push more manga and comic adaptations, even if it's just one shots. There are quite a few, but I'm mainly interested in series that are played a bit more straight. Think Legend of Zelda and Pokemon Adventures manga than Splatoon and Super Mario-Kun. My pipe dream is for someone to do a comic adaptation of the Mario games in the style of Sonic's comics at their best, but I'd settle for one-offs because of how weird the time line can get XD

Also do more advertising for those kind of things. I never understood why companies forget about IP adaptations that are still ongoing. I completely forgot about LoZ's manga until I went to Barnes and Nobles and caved to grab some of the books I didn't have.

Re: Nintendo Reconfirms Release Windows For Major Upcoming Switch Games

Andrew5678

I can't say I'm not excited, but at the moment, my main 'must get' games are just Pokemon Legends, Kirby, and Advance Wars. My backlog is already ridiculous, lol

For what if's: I'm waiting on reviews of BD/SP, but I'm tempted to grab it. Splatoon 3 and Mario + Rabbids are games I want to get, but I need more details, especially on Splatoon 3. I have so many concerns that I think will get tossed out, but I can't say for sure until Nintendo shows their hand.

BotW 2, Bayo 3, SMTV all look cool, but I want to play prior entries first, especially if they're on Switch. It's been so long since BotW that I'm planning to start fresh since I didn't invest much time into my file, despite enjoying it. Same for MP4, but I'm assuming I've got more time for that.

Re: Digimon Survive Producer Habu Kazumasa Officially Confirms 2022 Delay

Andrew5678

I have to wonder how early into development the game was when it was announced and when they were having seemingly normal updates about it. A 3 year delay is something I'd expect to see a few years ago with a AAA E3 announcement, not a Digimon title. Either it was only halfway done, or the devs had some last minute ideas that got out of hand.

Even for big games with respected legacies like Persona and LoZ, people aren't going to be happy with the wait at their most understanding. People will forget the wait if the game is good, but massive delays like this without specifics are worrying.

Re: Oh No, Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp Has Been Delayed On Switch

Andrew5678

I'm actually happy about this. The entire Fall line up was jam packed this year, and between Pokemon, Mario Party, and smaller titles coming out, Advance Wars would have had a lot to compete with in the Winter. The fact that it shared a release date with Big Brain Academy alone had me worried. Even with the Christmas rush, it could have easily been lost in the flood.

Spring in general feels more relaxed, without as much going on for releases, at least compared to the end of the year bloodbaths we get. Ideally, I want an ad campaign that's at least on Warioware's level, with a Direct overviewing everything about the game to generate interest. Also, I'm curious to know about what might be getting changed because that's a pretty big delay. Oh well, more time to dig through my backlog!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (October 16th)

Andrew5678

I'm going to start Metroid Dread so I can stop dodging spoilers, and eventually return to older entries when I can. I have a few games to play, and I think I'll get back to finishing the main campaign of 3D World to hop into Bowser's Fury.

I still have my Wii U, and I think I'll finally play through Paper Mario on it. I never actually finished the game, so I'm excited to return to it for a fresh perspective.

Re: Wish Kingdom Hearts Was Native On Switch? A True Port Is Still "Undecided"

Andrew5678

@Sora181 It's a coin flip, I can see Disney forcing this to save money, but they're barely involved in gaming these days. I can easily imagine Square only focusing on cloud titles for money in a combination of greed and incompetence. If they can butcher a major entry of their biggest series like FFXV, Square could certainly mess up Kingdom Hearts.

Re: Happy Home Paradise Unveiled For Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Paid DLC Or In NSO Expansion Pack

Andrew5678

Probably going to repost this later:

On its own, the current expansion pack isn't worthwhile, and don't have a reason to get it, even if I didn't have alternate ways of grabbing it.

Beyond in increasing the number of games/consoles, adding free DLC options will make this deal better. For a solo account, that's a $30 expansion that'll give $25 worth of DLC along with Genesis/N64 games. While I don't think I'd like that direction, if they pushed more DLC through the service, it would be more worthwhile for people for a one time purchase. I don't know how feasible that is, and I don't think I'll be supporting this since I'm okay with the current plan. I still think the whole thing needs an overhaul that focuses just on game features since everything else is pretty negligible.

Re: A New Mother Tribute Comic Has Been Revealed, Pre-Orders Open In Japan Later This Month

Andrew5678

@DiggleDog The Earthbound/Mother series is one of the few series I know of that's gotten an official conclusion, most of the time they just end unceremoniously because of whatever reasons without any real announcement.

I personally think the franchise just needs to be made more available. Beyond the 3rd game, we still don't have Earthbound or Beginnings on Switch, which I'd hope will lead to a big remaster collection.

Re: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's Final Fighter Is... Kingdom Hearts' Sora!

Andrew5678

The only thing I don't like about this choice is the fact that Disney's connected, but even then it seems minimal. I don't want to think about the royalties they wanted just for having Mickey's emblem on Sora's Keyblade. The fact that they cut Goofy and Donald out of the Station of Awakening kind of confirms that, lol

I enjoy Kingdom Hearts, and barring the silly writing, I think it's worthy of joining Smash. Sora being the most requested fighter makes sense, and Kingdom Hearts was always pretty popular. Plus, he looks fun, so I'm looking forward to him.

Re: Patent Reveals Nintendo Is Working On Upscaling Technology

Andrew5678

Best to keep in mind that with patents like this, it's entirely possible that Nintendo just picked it up in case they wanted to use it.

As for what this could mean if it is implemented, I'm actually inclined that it will come into play with a Switch successor. Rather than just going for 4K, I wonder if there's a chance the technology could be used to slightly enhance visuals of Switch titles on the newer hardware. Also, I don't 100% understand how it works, but I wonder if the limited learning capabilities of the program could ever come into play with Nintendo's games.

Whatever happens, I look at Switch's current track record with new models, and don't expect any news unto 2023 at the latest. Next year's probably going to focus on whatever games they have, rather than any new tech.

Re: Advance Wars' Switch Box Art Recreates The Original GBA Cover

Andrew5678

I like the original box art more, but only slightly. It's a bit of roughness that gave the original art more character, though objectively, I think they're both very good. The only downgrade for me is the tank design, I liked the details in the treads, though making the cannon a bit bigger is nice.

These are really minor details that die hards and people keeping a close eye on it like me will think of. I'm picking it up-I've got a buddy who'll probably grab it and I'd love to try the co-op with him, plus I've enjoyed this style of game thanks to Fire Emblem. I'm just hoping that there's a bit more advertising for it down the line. Ideally, I'd want a small Mini Direct dedicated to the game to go over more details since that's been lacking.

On the bright side, it's at least not fighting against other Nintendo games since the big releasee there will have come out, and Big Brain Academy is a very different kind of game that won't get in its way. Just some more advertising and it should at least reach whatever not-so-high expectations I imagine Nintendo has.

Re: Video: SUDA51 On No More Heroes And The Future Of Travis Touchdown

Andrew5678

I'd be very interested to see what kind of game suda51 would design under Nintendo's super if he ever got the chance, especially if it were made from the ground up. On established IP's I don't know much about Mysterious Murasame Castle, but a (very unlikely) Zelda game would probably be as strange as Majora's Mask got.

Re: Review: Cruis'n Blast - An Arcade Racing Icon Returns In Spectacular Fashion

Andrew5678

I've been looking for a fun co-op game, and since Mario Kart is always a fun time (despite how little I've played it) I'm looking forward to picking this up. I have fond memories of the weird looseness of the arcade games of old. The level of absurdity, and that feeling of "everything in the kitchen sink" reminds me of the best of the 90's (though without the scantily-clad women, as mentioned in the review)

Re: Platinum Would "Definitely" Port Star Fox Zero To Switch, If Given The Opportunity

Andrew5678

@Znake I've been playing through the first Sin and Punishment from N64 and I'm shocked by how smooth the game is (and the english dub for a Japanese exclusive up until the Wii/Wii U). I can already tell the sequel is going to be a step up when I get to it, so one of my personal pipe dreams is that if Nintendo tries to bring rail shooters back with Star Fox, they get as many Treasure alumni back for S&P3 to come back alongside it.

Re: Platinum Would "Definitely" Port Star Fox Zero To Switch, If Given The Opportunity

Andrew5678

A full sequel would work better than a Switch port. The control system was a big reason it sold poorly, and it was designed specifically to work with the Wii U's game pad, with the cock pit giving a second view with the aiming reticle something you can aim independently. I can see them making adjustments to the aiming and having it work on Switch, but I'd rather them build a new game with new locations from the ground up. Even as someone who liked it, I know Star Fox Zero left a bad taste in people's mouth, and I'd rather the series got a fresh start that moved the story forward, especially since rail shooters aren't popular at all right now.

I don't know exactly what a new Star Fox would need, but I think a "back to basics" approach would be best with concepts built on 64 and the best parts of other titles. Less experimentation until people are confident in the Devs handling of the formula. For less realistic expectations, a map and optional timer akin to Star Fox 2, and side mode based on Guard would be fun.

Re: Nintendo Changed The Culture At Retro Studios Following Metroid Prime Crunch

Andrew5678

For all of Nintendo's problems, overworking employees is not one of them, and I've never gotten the impression otherwise. This confirms my beliefs, which is nice.

The fact that a lot of people working at Retro now are veterans who got a break from the Prime series after a while is encouraging. A few articles regarding new hirings indicate they've managed to bring some good talent on board as well, but my judgement will be reserved until they're confident enough to show their hand. Hopefully Dread is an indication of the direction they're taking for the overall series.

For now, I'll just hope for a Prime Trilogy port some time before MP4 comes out, since the Joy-Cons can emulate the Wii remote's movements.

Re: Nintendo Confirms It Won't Be Attending Tokyo Game Show

Andrew5678

I honestly thought some of the comments about Nintendo having nothing to show were sarcasm. I don't blame anyone for having a personal favorite game they want to see, but if anything, there's arguably too many games. Of some of the genres theres:

RPG's: Pokemon BD/SP and Shin Megami Tensei V for anyone interested in a different monster catcher

Racing: Cruis'n Blast, which looks like it has a lot of content and is filling a genre that's been pretty lacking in variety (barring Mario Kart)

Metroidvania: Metroid itself obviously, the first brand new title to the series in years focused on the core 2D gameplay (if you ignore Samus Returns)

Turn-Based Strategy: The Advance Wars remakes, which have confirmed online multiplayer to boot

Party games: Mario Party Superstar is not only a collection of the old games that made the series what it is, but it's also going to have online gameplay at launch.

Bite Size Games: I wasn't really sure how to categorize these two, but they're similar on a basic level. Big Brain Academy and Wario Ware have couch co-op and some very limited online features, while being games that have traditionally done well as single player experiences centered around mini games.

That's eight games coming out covering several genres, and 7 of them are 1st Party titles. If I'm cynical and don't count remakes, that only Marks off Pokemon and Advance Wars, leaving 6 notable titles among whatever else will come out. I don't want to brush negative comments off with "well that's your opinion, man" but it's obtuse to ignore all of these games altogether.

Re: Big Brain Academy: Brain Vs. Brain Arrives In Time For The Holidays

Andrew5678

@BANJO Pokemon Legends is just one reason why I think Switch will stick around until 2023, and it could say even longer than that. With Splatoon 3, BotW2, and Mario + Rabbids along side it, Nintendo has some massive hitters next year, coupled with the Switch's backlog and any other games we don't know about.

Unless they go for the "Gaming ecosystem" style that XBox has gone into for a slow transition to a Switch successor, I can't see a new console coming any time soon. Then again, I should know better to try and predict Nintendo, for good or for ill.

Re: Big Brain Academy: Brain Vs. Brain Arrives In Time For The Holidays

Andrew5678

So from now to the end of the year Nintendo has Wario Ware, Cruis'n Blast, Metroid, Mario Party, Pokemon, Big Brain Academy, and Advance Wars, plus NMH3 was recently released. I'd say this more than makes up for any recent dry spells, though the lack of a massive money maker launching around December is a bit puzzling.

I kind of hope they leave all of the games as they are sell on there own. With all of the options, Nintendo's got plenty of games to cater to a ton of niches while Pokemon and Mario Party could potentially carry them in the Holidays. I can also see Big Brain Academy doing well, it seems like it'll be a good party game and the cheap price ($30) will be very appealing to people looking to save.

Re: New PEGI Gambling Criteria Means Old Pokémon Games Would Now Be Rated 18+

Andrew5678

If this law destroyed the loot box business, I could live with the gambling corner never coming back. Naturally, that's not the case because then companies like Activision-Blizzard and EA would actually require making decent games that didn't rely on people being addicted to gambling to turn a profit.

I still think stuff that uses only in-game currency should be given a pass.

Re: Talking Point: As The Fan-Made 2D Metroid Prime Game Is Shut Down, Where Do You Stand On Nintendo's Takedowns?

Andrew5678

I'll just list my general thoughts towards fan projects like this:

Legally, Nintendo is entirely in the right to do this, and I assume that they wouldn't have their lawyers waste their time with this kind of project unless there were legal concerns with the IP. I dislike it, and wish Nintendo was more lenient with fan content like this, so long as it doesn't use Nintendo's content to turn a profit. This is mainly with their assets and art, I don't mind them coming down on people using those, but things like this and fan art that's made from the ground up should be given more leniency.

For this project in particular, the best course of action would be to rework the visuals and concepts so that it's different enough to be its own project. I feel sympathy for the Devs, but the way the message was worded, it sounds like they were prepared for this to happen, which makes me hope they had a backup for this scenario. Nintendo's probably the most infamous about their copyright lawsuits, and if anything could've skirted through some loopholes, it probably wasn't this.

Re: Now, This Is What Next-Gen Pokémon Should Look Like

Andrew5678

This game is more Monster Hunter or Yokai Watch 4 than Pokemon, with the monsters functioning a bit more like Palicos than partners with occasional team moves. Admittedly, I was kind of hoping that trainers would interact a bit more with battles in Arceus (having to dodge or helping Pokemon from afar while directing them, which admittedly, is a bit of a stretch) but this kind of direction isn't what Pokemon needs, beyond the freedom of movement the player character has.

Also, the graphics and insane level of particle effects seem like they'd be difficult to manage on strong consoles, and that's assuming that the Devs can properly optimize the game. Everyone assumes that human incompetence disappears with graphic fidelity, despite the endless failures of AAA devs.

Re: Nintendo's Share Value Trends Downward As Investor Analyst Gives 'Sell' Advice

Andrew5678

The lockdowns last year caused sales to be inflated, and it warped the projections of a lot of companies. If there's one thing I'll except companies blaming sad lockdowns for, it's business either being hampered or growing abnormally at the time.

Assuming that anyone actually looks at sales projections with basic knowledge of what sells, I still think jumping off now is premature. Maybe if the investor is clueless and only considers what they're told about power, but Switch has a solid install base and a good number of games launching up until 2022. Sales have sputtered, but there's precedent that they'll possibly spike and regulate after the OLED model comes out. There aren't any major signs that the Big N's value will collapse.

Sony and Microsoft aren't even bothering trying to compete directly with the big N, and frankly, aren't yet big enough to be a major concern. Worst case scenario, Nintendo's in a good position to have the Switch gracefully bow out to be replaced by a successor by 2023.

Re: Feature: 20 Super NES Classics Nintendo Should Bring To Switch Online

Andrew5678

Out of all of these, the only ones Nintendo has any real power to make available are what they own. Kind of makes me wonder if some sort of Virtual Console system alongside the subscription service might offer a good balance, mainly for 3rd Party devs who want a bit more guaranteed money (?).

Anyway, Earthbound is an obvious omission, and Earthbound: Beginnings also deserves a shoutout. Someone brought up the possibility of an Earthbound collection, and I've pondered that idea. Bundling Mother 3 with the previous games would be an easy sell for a physical version, and they can of course offer them separately on the eshop.

Super Mario RPG always seems like it's tied up in legal nonsense with Square, but no one knows where it stops and where it starts. Whatever happens, I just hope we can have a chance at playing the game regardless of the legal problems Nintendo and Square are tied up in.

Not SNES, but Nintendo should really bring StarTropics II to the Online service as well. Just to finish up the series and give me false hope that Alex Jones may at least get a spirit in Smash.

Re: Project AM2R Creator Celebrates Metroid's 35th With A New Game

Andrew5678

@Chamver The best reason would probably be to get their work noticed by people. The creator put a good amount of work into essentially what was a passion project, and got hired partly thanks to the exposure he got making a 'Metroid' game. His reasoning probably wasn't that cynical, but with how many indie games ape off of the Metroidvania genre, a wholly original title would have likely gotten lost in the flood.

Of course the downside is that he's got what I assume to be a quality product he spent a decent chunk of his life on that he couldn't monetize in any way until recently. Owning your stuff is the best option, but this guy made it work as a sort of springboard to his career.

Re: Nintendo's Stock Price Sees Biggest Fall In Two Years Following Earnings Report

Andrew5678

The stock market is based on how people are feeling, and that rarely lines up with reality. Combine that with the fact that a lot of big stock holders are incredibly fickle and want infinite growth, and it often feels like stock prices are poor reflections of a company's overall condition in the market.

Part of it is probably the money grubbers coming to terms with the fact that normal people are tired of being locked in their houses and want to get out, spending less time buying and using products. In Nintendo's case, they don't have a lot of releases looking to light up the sales charts this year. Skyward Sword already came out, and other than Mario Party and Pokemon, I don't think anything else will go further than a million units, if even that (I'll be happy if 'm wrong). The OLED model is probably hindering overall Switch sales a bit since people are holding out as well.

On the flip side, I suspect that there will be an upturn at least around Fall. Switch sales should stabilize after a short boost from initial OLED sales, and along with Mario Party and Pokemon, Nintendo has a second Pokemon game, Splatoon 3 and Breath of the Wild 2 coming out next year. If that doesn't build confidence, I don't know what will.

Re: Nintendo Reminds Us Pokémon Diamond And Pearl Remakes Are Coming To Switch

Andrew5678

Looking forward to it. Gen 4 is honestly my least favorite Gen, but I still enjoyed it and look forward to another trip through Sinnoh. I kind of forgot about the remakes, but that's just because Pokemon was absent from the craziness of E3. There's actually so many games launching, that I forgot the Diamond and Pearl remakes are looking like one of Nintendo's big end of the year releases (possibly the only ones if there aren't any other announcements)

Re: Takashi Iizuka Admits The Sonic 2022 Reveal Was Probably A Bit Too Early

Andrew5678

If they're stressing how early this reveal was, I wonder when we'll get some concrete news about the game. They have Colors and the rebundled old games to hold people over this year, but it'll be a bit awkward if Sega's silent for over 6 months until E3 just for one game. Hopefully they have at least one more announcement for early next year, it seems like Sonic keeps getting hit with big droughts that don't even have many remakes in between.

Re: Soapbox: Nintendo Switch Online's Library Is A Snapshot Of '90s Gaming Shelves

Andrew5678

I appreciate the different take. It is nice to learn a bit about the duds and titles that were too weird to make an impressions, if only as a learning experience to build off of. The mention of a snapshot of the 90's does make me wish that we'd get something like that for what gaming was like in Japan at the time. Nintendo's tried that out with Panel de Pon and Mario's Super Picross, so it's at least possible if the text needed to understand a title is minimal.

I'd also be fine with Nintendo just charging for titles separately for straight up localizations. If they followed the pricing system for Fire Emblem, I'm sure obscure stuff like Famicom Wars and Sutte Hakkun would garner interest if thy could just be brought to NSO without english text.

Re: Japanese Charts: Zelda: Skyward Sword HD Scores Another Debut Number One

Andrew5678

I'm playing through Skyward Sword, and while it's a bit awkward, the controls are starting to click. I'm pretty sure the problem is that I'm playing it like ARMS which only required quick twitches to make an action, as opposed to prepping a controller for sword swings. Also, I played the first 3 hours all at once, so probably burned myself out a little XD

I actually did have a problem flying the Loftwing at first until I realized that I didn't read the part on how to ascend with motion controls. Oops.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (July 17th)

Andrew5678

Things are quieting down around me, so I'm back to finishing Star Fox 2. The Expert mode... if you're not ready, it is made for pain. Still fun, but I'll need a break after I finish my current run before trying to have a run where Andross doesn't nuke Corneria. Mercy is not in that guy's vocabulary...

I'm planning to grab Skyward Swird HD, and will either start that, or finish 3D Worlds main campaign before hopping into Bowsers Fury.

Re: Valve's Steam Deck Might Be The Closest We'll Get To A Switch Pro In 2021

Andrew5678

To anyone dissing Switch for launching the OLED model, how much did you believe in the Switch Pro rumors?

That aside, this is actually a pretty cool device. I actually do think this'll throw Nintendo off, literally no one considered PC compressed into a handheld (or at least as an official console). Ideally, this'll push Nintendo to flex their legacy titles both popular and niche more. They have some of the most well known exclusive out there, and there's plenty of weird and bizarre titles that core gamers would want to try out, and I'm sure they can make deals to have indies and some 3rd party stuff on something like the Game Pass.

On the other hand, it's kind of a bummer that Valve is doing more to challenge Nintendo than Playstation or Microsoft, them and Nintendo really do have different markets

Re: Round Up: The Zelda: Skyward Sword HD Reviews Are In

Andrew5678

I'm probably going to pick this up. Never got around to the original or Wii U version, and the QoL changes sound like they remedied the biggest problems this game had (while also helping me understand some of the problems this game had initially). I've wanted to get into more Zelda, and frankly, I don't have the energy to hop back into BotW, so this should be a fun time.

Re: Video: Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania Clip Shows Switch Gyro Controls In Action

Andrew5678

I only vaguely knew about Monkey Ball, and skipped on the Switch Port of Banana Blitz since it didn't get very good reception. This collection will be what pushed me to finally give the series a chance. I'm very curious about trying some of Sega's older games (may grab the physical version of Panzer Dragoon) so this collection is perfect for me.

Though I get the feeling people aren't exaggeration about this series difficulty. Should be interesting...

Re: The Original Nexomon Game Is Coming Soon To Nintendo Switch

Andrew5678

Yeah, this definitely came before. The over world still looks like a cheap rip-off of the earlier Pokemon games from the GBA/DS era, and the tweening animation is minimal while being unappealing. I wasn't into Destruction because of that and the monster design, but it seems like it was a big improvement overall.

Re: Round Up: Here Are The First "Hands-On" Impressions Of The Nintendo Switch OLED

Andrew5678

I wonder if this might make the regular Switch and Switch Lite more appealing to people because of the lower prices. Anyway, if my Switch was worse for wear, I'd consider it, but I haven't had any major problems barring some controller issues. As for expectations, the only thing I wish was included was an enhanced battery life, and that's as someone who bounces between handheld and docked regularly when I'm actively gaming. Glad the screen is an improvement, but at this rate, I'm more likely to just wait for whatever Nintendo makes next for a new system-and that's assuming I don't wise up and just focus on games I already have.

Re: Talking Point: Where Does The Switch OLED Announcement Leave The Rumoured Switch Pro?

Andrew5678

@YoungLink64 I understand Nintendo not wanting to devalue their games-they're one of the only companies that has games that retain SOME value over the years. The problem is that they've got a ton of stuff just sitting in their vault not doing anything. Forget about the lack of availability and how it leads to piracy. Nintendo has a lot of famous classics and hidden gems that they themselves own, which they can leverage but they just ignore. A full subscription service built around indie games and reliving the "classics" of the past repackaged together is feasible. They've scratched the surface with NSO, and frankly, I can't see any better ideas to improve their Online service now that they're charging for it.

I can live with remakes (HD upgrades are iffy) I'm more concerned with availability, and a company potentially squandering a chance to make some money and match up to competition.

Re: Talking Point: Where Does The Switch OLED Announcement Leave The Rumoured Switch Pro?

Andrew5678

2021 has a ton of big games coming to Switch, with even more to potentially add. 2022 has Pokemon Legends: Arceus, BotW 2, Splatoon 3, and Mario + Rabbids: Spark of Hope. My experience with Nintendo's console are limited, but looking at how the 3DS and Wii U's support dried up, the Switch's current output does not resemble that of a console on its way out.

As for what could be next, the most I would expect would be a revision similar to the New 3DS, with a bit more power to it. Any major upgrades (ones that will actually matter to most people) are only going to occur with a new Switch in 2023 at the latest. Frankly, I just want a better version that has improved Joy-Cons, backwards compatibility, and overhauled Online-including a better legacy system for playing old games. NES, SNES, Game Boy, GBA, Gamecube, and the Wii to an extent should be portable without any control issues, and I'd happily pay for a service that rented all of those alone, with Onlne being weak, but free.
