Well said. You are calling out and describing the essence of modern soft racism.
This is a rather dishonest tool of the conservative punditry: essentially any particularly heinous act committed by one member of a group or minority becomes the responsibility of any and all members of that group or community in such a way that the majority are not.
EG: gang shootings in Chicago are code for "inner city" and all blacks...and why isn't Rev Sharpton denouncing them (even if he already has)?
When white people commit murder, it is simply never a matter that any prominent white person must atone for lest all whites be guilty of condoning the act. Even if the person claims to be an avid listener to or inspired by the likes of Glenn Beck or Alex Jones!
I would ask that everyone be aware when people use this tactic. It probably happens more than you realize.
There are more important factors than race in the commission of crimes like poverty, systemic injustice, and lack of education or opportunity.
I'd wager you'll find quite a lot of crime in impoverished white and Asain areas, and let's not forget the war on drugs here in America with it's lucrative school to prison pipeline for minor offenders of color. Even though studies prove that statistically speaking illegal drug use between whites and blacks is almost the same per-capita.
" I HATE how you're labeled a racist if you speak opinions that dont fit the liberal agenda."
Now the "liberal agenda" is believing it's okay for people of different races to procreate?
I'd say...instead the problem with "movement conservatives" is that just when you think they've pushed too far against the civil rights of one group, it turns out that's just a starting point for their bigotry... masked as "free speech" with no expectations of consequence.
I honestly hadn't heard about this, and I'm a long time fan of Jon Tron's comedy videos, I noticed he hasn't been putting out much content lately, and know I know why.
@Onion - Now I have to disagree on your assessment of Awakening. Before Awakening I played Fire Emblem and Sacred Stones on GBA, Path of Radiance on Gamecube, and Radiant Dawn on Wii.
I really don't understand the "dumbing down" of Awakening. I'm not super hardcore, I play on regular difficulty but tend to not let anyone die. I find that a solid challenge. IMO, Path of Radiance and Sacred Stones were both easier than Awakening.
What exactly are people talking about when they say Awakening was "dumbed down"? I'm asking out of complete curiosity. I'm curious to know how my experience with this series differs from others.
I really didn't like the approach taken in Birthright/Conquest.
It felt like fantasy fulfillment fan-fic run amok. Okay, so both royal families are fawning over you for your loyalty, beautiful women are trained at birth to serve and fawn all over you, and mystical beings grant you a pocket dimension to rule on top of all that where they fawn all over you.
There was a little of that in Awakening, but not even close to that extent. (it did have time travel loops, which are often a sign that a franchise is running out of ideas)It will be nice to get back to the series roots of a deposed lord fighting guerrilla campaigns against an overwhelming foe.
Even as a Steam user, I have never got on board with cloud saving, I guess I'm just old-school and pretty much game specifically on those platforms using those specific devices.
I have yet to come across a situation where I've needed cloud saves, so it's probably just a matter of what sort of gamer would find them convenient and who finds them unnecessary.
I still have my old PS1 and Gamecube memory cards too...so those cloud saves would have been deleted, but I still have my Final Fantasy Tactics and Fire Emblem Path of Radiance save data from back in the day!
Remember when the PS4 launched and there were so many new games and exclusives that we were blown away by the launch line-up and first year?...and how there were no delays?
Not trying to be all "my console is better"...but keeping things in perspective. We all act like the Wii U was the absolute worst launch in history, and not the early whipping boy that would really come to be the model for console launches when PS4 and XB1 launched the following year to a lack of exclusives, port-and cross-gen mania, and delays-delays-delays.
By then the gaming internet media and gamers had gotten all their abuse and ill-will out of their system by beating up the Wii U, and were ready to look beyond some of the launch window issues with the other consoles.
This is Nintendo though, so it's got to have more exclusives, more games, and fewer delays to avoid the same levels of nerd rage happening again.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE - we are very fortunate to have you here as an invaluable resource on the subject of the status of availability for purchase of Nintendo hardware in your locality.
@RyanSilberman - It is pretty good. I have it on Steam. It's a SHMUP that feels like an arcade classic, but without the constant bullet hell stress.
@bluedogrulez - This is actually one of the few modern SHMUPS that isn't a cheap feeling flash game, or a ridiculous bullet hell that only the grand master professional gamer could beat without dying every two seconds.
You mean that 3:00 promotional video that was the first thing that the vast majority of gamers saw that blew up the internet?
The primary criticism of that was that it focused ONLY on how it was a console/portable hybrid. I don't even know what "reveal" video you would be talking about.
Even if we were to give you the benefit of the doubt about this "reveal video", that is still one video VS ALL of the advertising and promotional stuff that has run on TV and internet before and after.
You are really going out of your way to cherry pick in order to make your case.
Not only that but some people like to cherry pick which quotes they demand absolute strict adherence to, and some like to take quotes from ages ago and apply them to consoles and products they were not meant to include, or did not yet exist at the time of the quote even in concept form.
@Yorumi - Well, like I said, my card from about 2013 was an iteration behind because I was short on cash at the time, but it's served me pretty well.
I'm starting to see new games struggle to hit 60fps/1080p on my rig, but there's usually a tweak or two that allows them to look and run as well or better than PS4/XB1 still.
I haven't upgraded my PC in a few years, I never had the most cutting edge video card (just an iteration behind at the time I bought it) and only NOW are these consoles catching up.
If people are going to be graphics/power/tech fetishists, complaining about Nintendo, who are now the de-facto king of portable gaming, they may be barking up the wrong tree, falling on deaf ears, and asking too much while still whining about price.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE - Relax, sooner or later there will be a negative story for you to gloat over with cynical hyperbole to which you won't demand strict literal adherence like you do here.
Cheer up, most consoles launch well due to hype, you'll have some bad news to comfort you soon.
I believe it was one of your countrymen, the great songwriter and Rock musician Bill Collins who once wrote something that applies to your current situation:
"I'm coming down, coming down like a monkey,
but it's alright
Like a load on your back that you can't see,
ooh but it's alright
Try to shake it loose, cut it free, just let it go,
get it away from me."
How will Nintendo ever learn unless we attack their fans on random message boards constantly, and then spend a lot of time making fake complaints in photoshop to pretend to send to Nintendo.
Nintendo is the worst thing that ever existed. I was trying to compliment you on calling out the pernicious evil of Reggie Fils Amie and the cult of Nintendo fanboys that make my life worse by existing and not having the sense to hate a consumer electronics entertainment company and their products as much as we do.
U uncovered the massive conspiracy! Nintendo Life are totally corrupt and had a hand in the JFK assassination, fakes the moon landing, and had knowledge of building 7 demolition.
Keep at it, this conspiracy goes all the way to the top!
@ironside1911 u r rite they shuld drop the price on game so it cheaper to buy nitendno is greet but there is too much on the price it could be 150 dollars then i can buy 1 for my frend
@ironside1911 - this game really goof if u like farm game i know it now for every one but i like it and so does my friend like it too. i glad to see i'm not the only nitendo fan that likes this kind of game
In the gaming world of 2017, early adopters can expect some issues with new hardware, except Nintendo, they must get it 100% on day one and Reggie is [insert hyperbolic insult here].
For the record, I don't have a Switch yet...probably around Christmas so I can let early adopters deal with the issues lol.
The haters and whiners will no doubt try to blame this on Nintendo and "fanboys" or "NDF", then promptly forget about this when asked why some third party games fail on Nintendo hardware.
Unless there is some serious "special feature" justification, this is paying more to wait longer for something, and you can't possibly blame anyone who has access to other versions of this game for purchasing them on those platforms...no matter how desperate you are to paint Nintendo and fans as the bad guy.
Old Sony, Microsoft, Sega, Nintendo, Atari....Phillips CD-i...is not coming back.
Sorry.
The industry is always changing, the parameters change, our content delivery channels have changed, competition for viewer eyeballs and interest has changed.
For better or worse, "old Nintendo" is not ever coming back. Not sure how old you are, but this is the fact you must face eventually.
Hey...it took me a while to admit that Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, and Alice in Chains style rock was never coming back, just as people that grew up in the 70s lament that Zeppelin, The Beatles, and James Brown aren't ever gonna be the popular style again.
I grew up on the Transformers G1, yes I'm that old.
The Micheal Bayformers are what they are now. They aren't going back.
More to the point, the market changed around Nintendo. You people complain when they change, and you complain when they hold on to tradition.
We still have great titles from Nintendo. Xenoblade, Fire Emblem, Zelda, Mario, Mario Kart, Smash, Pokemon, Donkey Kong Country, Splatoon... All at the top of their game (pun intended). That's pretty impressive in the age of milking sequels and annualized cash cows.
I'm sorry if not every franchise is as perfect as you remember it from the 16 bit days, but that's life, man.
@SMEXIZELDAMAN - Like me, you probably don't put your system up to full brightness. Middle or a step or two down from max can really save battery life, and honestly in most cases it's easier on my eyes.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE - I see you used a very specific method to arrive at your conclusion: you found the video that supported the most negative conclusion, and decided beforehand that it would be absolute authority.
I guess it's Nintendo's fault for not being a massive global electronics and licensing corporation that used video game consoles as a way to push new media formats and hardware.
PS1 - pushed compact disc format, Sony also a major recording industry publisher.
PS2 - pushed DVD format, Sony also a major film distributor
PS3 - pushed blu-ray and HDTV, Sony holds partial patent rights on Blu-ray, and manufactures HDTVs
Just saying...they could take huge losses on their hardware and licensing for video games in order to push these formats, hardware, and licensing on what used to be larger industries.
That doesn't make Sony evil or insidious (though you would surely claim Nintendo were had these roles been reversed) it just means they changed the industry by being essentially the biggest fish that jumped into a pond where Nintendo and Sega had grown to be the bigger fish natively as an industry.
Glad you brought up "third pillar" because that's just more indicative of the jilted Nintendo hater than anything else, really.
People STILL try to apply that to Nintendo after over a decade because they allegedly dropped the GBA too early thanks to the wild success of DS. The GBA still had games coming out in 2006-2007, first and third party, but Nintendo must support every platform forever or they're betraying these jilted ex-girlfriend fans.
@gatorboi352 It's not all a linear correlation equals causation situation though.
How do you get those sales without a sizable third party library, and how do you get a sizable third party library without sales? - You may as well ask about trees falling in forests.
There are other factors of course: ease and cost of porting which was a huge obstacle to the Wii U once it got into it's early to mid life doldrums.
Also, Sony and Microsoft changed the game for western developers. The PS3 should have bombed harder than the Wii U, but Sony eventually ate a ton of money and went through multiple revisions and price drops to push Blu-Ray and HDTVs into everyone's living room...which was the primary intention of the PS3 in the first place.
@CircuitWrangler3 -It wouldn't be a Nintendo related article or website without a few of the always-upset and perpetually underwhelmed trolls.
The one you replied to has been doing this shtick for years. It makes you wonder at what point do they realize Nintendo and it's products just aren't for them and they should move on and find stuff more suited to their tastes.
Oh and my favorite excuse is that back in their day Nintendo was this or that...well it looks like Nintendo has moved on but they haven't.

I guess that's just not ever been a problem I've ever dealt with in decades of gaming going back to the 80s.
Once it does happen to me, I may change my mind, lol.
Re: Hamster Corporation Confirms Next Batch Of ACA Neo Geo Classics
@lemonjellydude There are actually 6 Metal Slug games.
I own them all on one Wii game disc that I bought for about $7.00 used back around 2009 I think?
It's a very consistent series with the art, quality, and game-play being very close throughout all of them.
They are at their heart arcade games though, so they are ruthlessly unfair, short, chaotic, and fun.

Re: Parent Trap: A Family Gamer's Perspective On The Nintendo Switch
@CircuitWrangler3 -It wouldn't be a Nintendo related article or website without a few of the always-upset and perpetually underwhelmed trolls.
The one you replied to has been doing this shtick for years. It makes you wonder at what point do they realize Nintendo and it's products just aren't for them and they should move on and find stuff more suited to their tastes.
Oh and my favorite excuse is that back in their day Nintendo was this or that...well it looks like Nintendo has moved on but they haven't.
Re: Pokémon Scoops Two Wins at the D.I.C.E. Awards
These kind of awards are nonsense, worse than Academy Awards and Grammy awards.
They just give the biggest selling and most hyped all the applicable awards.
Fighting Game of the year: Street Fighter V
Why? Because it's the biggest name franchise.
I wouldn't be surprised if these awards were simply sold and paid for.
