Re: Yooka-Laylee Physical Editions Sell Out In Minutes, One Last Chance To Pre-Order Later Today

wratih9

I missed out on the morning collector's edition but I was able to snag one in the afternoon. I kick started the game and it turned out about as good as I expected. I always wanted this physical and was super bummed that they never had a tier for physical. Thankfully Limited Run picked it up and they made a pretty sweet collector's edition. I wasn't going to splurge but the fake N64 cart really got me.

@bluesdance

I have both and loved both. I put about 25 hours into Totes the Goat but it's simply because I found it extremely addictive and an excellent game to start my evening with or if I just wanted something that was truly a drop in and out. People have compared it to Qbert which I haven't played. There are different characters to unlock and I enjoyed trying them all out since they have different themes and so on.

Soccer Slammers is a fun little arcade title, though I only put about 5 hours into it. Another simple to pick up and play game but still very enjoyable though there is nothing to unlock which keeps it from doing too much. There is supposed to be an update though that might add some stuff. Don't know the details yet.

I picked up Mutant Mudds but the other games I couldn't pull the trigger on. It's great to see them show up but I cannot justify the cost unless it's a game I truly might replay (hence Mutant Mudds). Limited Run games has released a few more I'm interested in but it's the same problem for me. The other side of it is that I'm a collector so it's real tempting to buy all of these outright. If I had unlimited funds I would do it.

Re: Review: Bomb Chicken (Switch eShop)

I had my eye on this since it was unveiled and picked it up this week since it was on sale. I'm about 13 levels in so far and it's a solid experience. It reminds me of one those SNES games that was just a random platformer with a quirky hook like Boogerman or Bubsy that's really solid. It's also a nice change of pace after beating Hollow Knight.

Re: Team Cherry Changes Title Of Final Hollow Knight Content Pack Due To Name Clash

Finally beat the final boss last night with 87% completion with the worse ending. I'll probably jump back in after a bit since I dropped 45 hours into Hollow Knight. I really enjoyed the game and for all of those that couldn't get into it, I understand. I would recommend using a guide a bit which is what I did to keep from getting off the rails. I only used it to point me in the right direction which kept me from going made after wandering around for a couple of hours. Also some of the charm load outs make the bosses a lot easier. I failed at the final boss several times until I got Quick Slash and learned about the Tank Load out. Pretty much walked right through him without a problem.

I'm going through Bomb Chicken right now which is a nice palette cleanser.

Well on this on pre-order for the physical version but I might drop down to just digital as this maybe a game I play for a bit and get frustrated. Hollow Knight is fun and hard enough and it has a map. This is hard and not much direction but doesn't have a map. Sounds more frustrating than it should be.

Re: Octopath Traveler Smashes Its Way To Number One In Japan By A Huge Margin

wratih9

I mean it's great that it's number one and sold well in 3 days but it's also embarrassing that Square severely underestimated this game. They had large demo downloads, large feedback from the demo (meaning fans were engaged), and it was in the top 10 of most wanted games in Japan for months. That's not to mention it was in the reveal trailer for the Switch. Really poor job on their part.

@Tibob

From the review:

"If you don’t want to pick up all the characters, you’re certainly welcome to just plow on ahead to the next chapters of the ones you recruited."

Sounds like I'll grab four of them and then do the other 4 on a 2nd play through.

Re: Review: Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker (Switch)

Loved this game on the WiiU and already double dipped on it (bought it digitally first and went back and got a physical copy for collection). I however will not be double dipping. For those that missed out on this during the WiiU, pick it up!

Re: Hands On: Taking The Path Less Traveled In Octopath Traveler

wratih9

I skipped the 2nd demo but it's almost time to download it so I can get a jump on the game. This was one of the games that convinced me on the Switch so I'm beyond excited to get to play it. I hope it does really well too because I would love this to be a series that Square makes for Nintendo instead of giving up Final Fantasy Chronicles or some other stupid spin off. I also prefer the more traditional jrpg so this is right up my alley.

Re: Review: Flashback (Switch)

I have the special edition on order but haven't decided whether to keep it or just download the game. I grew up in the era but have no affinity towards this game so I probably should save the money and just get the download version. The steel book looks pretty sweet though.
