As convenient as digital downloads are, there's something to be said for a good old-fashioned physical bit of something you can hold aloft with confidence and shout 'I own this game'. That's no doubt exactly the thought process found in the minds behind Super Rare Games', who are bringing smaller titles from the eShop and birthing them in actual, factual card form.
We take a look at a handful of the titles they have on offer in the video above, and all of them come with their own inner sleeve artwork. AAA third parties, take note.

Got Flame in the Flood physical, but couldnt get into it, just kept on dying Will probably go back to it at some point.
Will always try to get Physical, it is so much better.
@Bunkerneath Hey you American r lucky. I live in Lebanon, where there is nearly no passion for xbox and a little for Nintendo and pc. Means little games for em except some places that sell all kinds and rare to found games in my country. So... no super rare games... Oh and the 2 snes classic went there r still 2 nes. each for 200$... yeah my country IS overpriced.
That "Super. Hot." line had me confused there. Thought for a second Superhot was actually getting a Switch release. Ah well.
@ActiSwitch I'm not American, UK thank you very much
I see an opportunity for a game "tasting" video comparing the different strengths of taste. It could be really big.
I personally prefer physical games to downloads for many reasons. The first is the lack of space on the Switch. The second would be the ability to play games long after online or digital support has stopped. The third is very much like what Alex proposed and that is the tactile, satisfying feeling you really own something.
I want that Mutant Mudds Collection !
Somehow, i have a little bit interest about that game.
@Akropolon Same. I’m really hoping for one too, my brother has it on PS4 and it’s really fun.
My Mutant Mudds arrived this morning and I’m super impressed with the package that came.
Lovely booklet in case and the other side of the revisible case is lovely.
Gonna order all the ones that aren’t sold out now
I've been on a real Switch physical bender lately. My copy of Flinthook just arrived from Limited Run Games, I pre-ordered the physical release of Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna - The Golden Country, and from Super Rare Games I ordered the bundle of Mutant Mudds Collection, Worms, and Snake Pass.
That's not even including future physical pre-orders like Undertale, Dust, West of Loathing, Thumper, Yooka-Laylee, and Golf Story, as well as Pokémon Let's Go Eevee and Smash Bros Ultimate.
Also planning to get Shovel Knight Treasure Trove and Hollow Knight next year.
Dayum this is too much.
A joy is right, but only is you're a scslper or Gollum.
"Twice as much plastic". Twice as bad for the environment. Brilliant.
I picked up Mutant Mudds but the other games I couldn't pull the trigger on. It's great to see them show up but I cannot justify the cost unless it's a game I truly might replay (hence Mutant Mudds). Limited Run games has released a few more I'm interested in but it's the same problem for me. The other side of it is that I'm a collector so it's real tempting to buy all of these outright. If I had unlimited funds I would do it.
I hate it when Youtubers pull a weird face like that for the preview as clickbait
@BigKing That's just Alex's (lovely) natural face.
The expression is known as soy face.
@Stocksy For people interested Mutant Mudds is the first one to come with sleeve and artbook.
The other 4 do not
@TheGameTutor ahhhh ok. It really is lovely. Pretty chuffed with it
I love physical editions of games - and had no idea Super Rare Games was producing more games now. I've purchased five of them from Limited Run Games - Thimbleweed Park, Mercenary Kings, Flinthook, Oceanhorn, and Dust: An Elysian Tale. Couldn't resist Retro City Rampage from VBlank either, it's a compulsive purchase on any platform. It's so tempting to 'collect them all,' but I am careful to only purchase games I really want
It's basically $50/ea CDN plus shipping for these games, which is why each purchase is quite thoughtful. I purchased Mutant Mudds on the eShop for less than $10, 1/5 the price of physical. The applies to virtually all of the games produced so far. $20 or less in digital form (even less if you catch them on sale). That makes the physical copies at minimum 50% more expensive. I do love what these companies are doing, but mentally, it's starting to become difficult to justify...
...even if I do want all three that are available tomorrow at SRG. It's becoming more and more difficult to hide these purchases from my partner.
Couldn't agree more with inside artwork. 👌🏼👍
Yeah it's cool but I hate how the small numbers drives up the costs
George from Super Rare Games: Hey Alex, you want me to send over some games you could use to make a video?
Alex: Sure man, sounds great! Do I need to throw you any cash?
George: Nope, totally free of charge! But you gotta do one thing for me tho...
Alex: What’s that?
George: You have to lick each and every one of them on camera. Is that gonna be a problem?
Alex: ... Hold my beer.
@Bunkerneath oh sorry... but still its a popular country...
