Re: Wonder Boy - Asha in Monster World Gets A New Trailer And Fresh Details

I'm really not a fan of what ININ and Strictly Limited have been doing with these frankly CONFUSING releases as of late. As a digital-only Switch gamer (in part because my launch Switch no longer reads game cards), charging astronomical amounts for limited editions that contain exclusive software really grinds my gears. They did it with Space Invaders (digital collection has 3 games, physical collection has 11), they're doing it with Turrican (digital collection has 4 games, physical collections have 10), and they're now locking the OG Monster World IV behind physical only? LAME.

At least Darius you can buy it all digitally, but it's gonna cost you $120... O_____o

Re: Rumour: A New Ninja Gaiden Trilogy Could Be Coming To Switch Next Year

@whodatninja Sigma 2 is an interesting case. The PS3 simply didn't have enough memory to handle the (at the time) VERY impressive but technically taxing dismemberment system and sheer number of onscreen enemies, so Koei Tecmo "remixed" the game to play to the strengths of the hardware. It definitely feels gimped when compared directly to the Xbox 360 original, but it's still a good rendition (a few of the changes are for the better honestly, though I HATED the purple mist instead of blood - hoping they fix that for this version).

I hope they at least add the blood back into Sigma 2 like they did in the Vita port.

Also, while I agree with the general consensus that Black is the ultimate version of Ninja Gaiden, there is no bad version. Sigma adds some rather superfluous content and makes a few questionable changes along the way, but it is still one of the best character action games ever made. Black is available to download in a BEAUTIFUL upscaled version on Xbox One and the upcoming Series S/X for like $10, so would still recommend that to people who can go that route.

Hoping when this gets revealed, they announce that Ryu is coming to Smash AND the SNES trilogy and NES versions of Ninja Gaiden II & III are being added to Nintendo Switch Online.

Re: Trover Saves The Universe Is Coming To Nintendo Switch On 28th November

@Boo-Thang This EXACTLY. The show toes the line between being VERY clever and smart, and also VERY lowbrow and silly. I think that's why so many people have latched onto it - it satisfies people who want a little more intelligence in their comfortingly "stupid" humor. And yes, sometimes it veers too far into absurdist lowbrow territory (ie. Pickle Rick), but it's often ingenious and inventive writing shouldn't be discounted.

The toxic vocal minority of the fanbase can be complete garbage though, which I feel turns a lot of people off.

Re: Starlink: Battle For Atlas Switch File Size Revealed, Almost As Large As Zelda: Breath Of The Wild

whitespy12

@OorWullie since the game is built as a "toys to life" game, naturally all of the necessary character/vehicle data would need to be included in the base download so that the toys could work on the fly as intended. All of the "DLC" in the digital version most likely just unlocks that content for use without a figurine.

TLDR; the file size won't likely be getting much higher. Possibly a bit due to standard patches and updates, but not due to DLC.

Re: Review: Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove (Switch eShop)

Been re-playing this on the Switch, and it's been a dream come true. And I must say, while a traditional D-Pad would have been preferred, the negativity surrounding using the Joy-Con with this game is unwarranted. Took me maybe 2 minutes to get used to using the directional buttons, and they work just fine. I could see them being less-than-ideal for something like Street Fighter II, but no issues here. (My only control gripe is the placement of the select/minus button. Makes switching from propeller dagger to phase locket a bit of a pain at the end of the Frigid Flight relic course).

Re: Review: Shantae: Half-Genie Hero (Wii U)

Loving this game so far! Though I must say, it's more of a straight forward retro-styled action game with some metroidvania elements sprinkled in, than a metroidvania game like the previous installments. The end level bosses are great, but dungeons are sorely missed. All in all, not as good as Pirate's Curse, and debatably not as good as the original. I prefer it to Risky's Revenge though (which I still adore).

Re: Mondo Music Releasing Super Castlevania IV Vinyl Soundtrack Next Year

Wonderful news! Will look great next to my copy of the original Castlevania 10" LP from Mondo. I know they also announced a few months back that Simon's Quest, Dracula's Curse, and Symphony of the Night would also be getting vinyl releases at some point. I wonder if they'll go in order, or if Super Castlevania IV is next. Super stoked for Dracula's Curse myself!

Re: Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Co-Director Was Initially "Disappointed" With Western Localisation

@Peace-Boy Yes, but this isn't a niche JRPG publisher. This is Nintendo. No other company in the industry has the reputation and public image that Nintendo has built, and frankly, any potential PR backlash from the media has the ability to do much more damage to the brand than a vocal subset of fans upset over localization changes, ESPECIALLY in this time of transition.

Re: Third Party Developers Share Their Hopes For Nintendo NX

@A01 "Star fox again, a needlessly cumbersome control setup that just as many people struggle with as those that can handle it. A game that would've been undeniably better with a standard control scheme."

Considering that I disagree with this statement and find the new control scheme VASTLY superior to the standard control scheme of old, I guess it's not "undeniable."
