I've mostly played Hanafuda but mainly just against the CPU because the online is trash.
Yacht is my go to boredom game, so I am happy to see it on there. Not surprised about most of the other results globally, but it's interesting that dots and boxes is so popular. Once you learn to manipulate the game it is just a question of who blinks first.
Me and my grandma LOVE mahjong, so we’ve been playing that lately. I’ve been playing chess with my sister. Those are really the only games I go back too. 😂
Bloody Mahjong, after all those Yakuza games I still have absolutely no idea how to play it!
I’ve easily contributed to many of those online Hanafuda hours. I play that game nonstop. I hope the NA My Nintendo stocks Hanafuda decks at some point.
I've played a lot of mancala, four in a row, and checkers. Want to learn Hanafuda.
Ludo takes a ridiculously long time, and yet somehow I've literally never seen anyone drop out. I've probably spent most of my time on Yacht Dice lol. Pretty simple and chance based, but what can I say, I love filling in boxes...
Learned Hanafuda and can't stop playing!
@nessisonett To be fair, not the same Mahjong that is in Yakuza, that is known as Riichi Mahjong (No. 2 longest average play session). Funnily enough though, it is one of the minigames that I struggle at the least in the Yakuza games.
Edit: This is why I should play the game first. I thought that there were two variants in Clubhouse Games, but upon looking into it, I don't believe there is. My bad, you are correct.
I've played this a lot. I have "99 times played, 99 times won" on multiple games. Chess. Hit and Blow. Four in a Row, Mancala. But I do have rising numbers in a bunch of other games too. My top 3 most played online games are 1) Chess, 2) Four in a Row, 3) Hit and Blow, and 4) Mancala, 5) Speed.. But I like to play all of the games.
If anybody ever wants to play anything, my Friend Code is: SW-4903-4145-3904. I'm always down for a game of anything.
My 3 most played at the moment are:
But that's because those are the only ones my boyfriend is willing to play too. We also played darts a lot in the beginning but not so much now.
Personal favourites are Mancala, Yacht Dice, 3 Dots and pretty much any card game (aside from Poker).
It’d be nice to see more backgammon being played. Best game ever.
Hanafuda is by far my favourite. It's easier to learn than you'd think.
I need to get this game!
And some friends too!
Mancala is awesome and a brand new game that I was introduced to via this collection.
Please fix the poker betting system.
@SPL64
friends sold separately
President is my fav game in 51 Games
@nessisonett you match tiles. That's it. It's a kids game
@solarstriker Completely agreed!!! President rocks. I've also dug way to many hours into all three solitaires
It is a pity that three of the card games are totally nonsense (War, Takoyaki, Pig's Tale), as they have not a bit strategy but just luck.
And I'm not a fan of Texas Hold'em, so another (additional) variation of poker (instead one of the luck based games mentioned above) would have been nice.
But nevertheless a great compilation.
@Krambo42 I learnt to play Backgammon for the first time using this game! Have been meaning to learn it for a long time. Also learnt Shogi which is like chess but subtly different. That's been my favourite aspect of 51 Worldwide Games, learning the new games.
I will forever love 51 Worldwide Games for introducing me to Riichi Mahjong which is legit one of the greatest games ever. Shame the online is not active - I now play on Mahjong Soul where you get a game super quick (though beware its full of waifu crap)
Mancala is certainly my favourite, hotly followed by Yacht dice and the card games. I think a lot of the traditional games have been translated really well in this collection. I'm not sure I see the point of the "toy" games or some of the other more arcade-style games. They must have taken precious time to develop, but the result seems very throw-away.
Chinese Checkers is the big surprise for me that I've had a ton of fun with. A shame it didn't make any of the lists.
@Alienfreaks04 Maybe try playing the game. It’s like poker but way harder. You create hands using your tiles and discarded tiles.
@MS7000 Mahjong and Riichi Mahjong are both in the game. Basic Mahjong is just a puzzle game with stacked tiles. Riichi Mahjong is one of the best games ever.
Hanafuda/Koi Koi is so much fun! I do, however, wish we could turn off the moon and cherry blossom viewing for online play since they can end rounds in 1 turn. And I wanna play 12 round games with people online. The default options don't seem editable.
@nessisonett Closest comparison is Gin Rummy. It's like if Gin Rummy had a ton of different rules around how you can construct a hand.
Soon as this goes on sale digitally I'm grabbing it for Backgammon games with my wife on the go...assuming we ever go anywhere ever again I guess heh
@Bret It’s soooo hard to wrap your head around though, with all the different types of tiles. I genuinely think Shogi’s easier to get into.
Hanafuda, Yacht Dice and Mancala are my favourites. But I also love chess, Renegade and President.
@nessisonett it definitely has some interesting controls 😂 but I got used to them and it’s on so fun favorite games to pass the time with!
Yes hanafunda is in it!
My favorite as wel
Lot's of Mahjong for me. I still need to try Hanafuda
Mainly on my own, I play Riichi Mahjong and Backgammon. Play with my lil girl would be darts and bowling.
@KoopaTheGamer I am surprised Renegade (Reversi/Othello) didn’t make the lists. One of my favorites!
Hanafuda and Mancala are pretty great! lol
Yacht Dice is awesome. Now I just need a yacht!
If this ever goes down to 20 bucks I might pick it up (probably not since it's Nintendo), otherwise nah. I do like several of the games on it though.
@BoFiS @dougphisig $20-$30 would be my price point. I am glad it is selling well, but I can’t justify spending more than the cost of a new 3DS game.
Edit: I thought it was a $50 dollar game. $40 isn’t too bad.
I finally learnt how to play Mahjong (Riichi Mahjong) with this game. the tutorials weren't amazing but they gave me enough knowledge to experiment with the game and to pick up the rules over multiple plays with some added online reading. The list of Yaku is pretty large and I doubt I'll ever put enough to into the game to memorise them all but I have wanted to learn to play this for many years and I am happy I finally can at least understand what is going on in.
Also play Mahjong Soul on your phone or in a browser. There's always an online game to play there.

@vanYth Yeah, I would have liked to have seen Cribbage included.
What about most popular titles in the West, as I don't think Mahjong or Hanafuda would make the cut in that case?
Amazing stats that I didn't need but I still love.
I would have thought there would be some Sevens or President or more Last Card, but I guess there are a lot of great games here
It's got some flaws, weird design decisions, and throwaway games, but still has a lot of great content with excellent presentation.
I learned mancala, backgammon, and hanafuda through this and really enjoying them. The game made it easy to learn with assists and reference for hanafuda being very helpful.
I'd just like to see some games filled out more like golf could have had more holes, slot cars more tracks, team tanks more levels.
