The term 'boomer shooter' is inaccurate as the people that were playing shooters around that 1993 era were people born in the 1980s , born 30 years after boomers who were born in the 1950s. Perhaps 'Doom-like' shooter is a better term
I like my original Nitro Deck and disagree with Alex's review but then again I don't play a bunch of FPS shooters on it, more sports games and platformers, which only use the right stick occasionally. I think it's a solid product and like the crystal colour scheme.
I have played this, and prefer Sensible Soccer 2006, if only the teleporting goalies were fixed in that game - it felt like more of a spiritual successor. This Sociable Soccer game has a pitch that feels too small, like an indoor soccer game almost.
Good to see a goal scoring superstar hero on Switch. My experience with this game on iPad and PC is that the pitch is too small and feels like a 'street' soccer game in that respect. Ie. Pass the ball two times and you are at the goal. But still a fun game.
Looks like a great game to play on the couch with some friends. Another top down racer that has recently popped up is Topdown Turbos, it's a game like MicroMachines
If 30 fps can be turned into 60 fps, that is an absolute gamechanger not only for this emulator, but all emulators. Imagine playing Wipeout 2097 on PSX at a smooth 60 fps!
The slow motion when you sink the black ball doesn't give you any sense of surprise, because if the slow motion kicks in, you know its sunk. Would be good to have an option to turn this off.
Surely the vertical (TATE) mode also works while the Switch is docked, provided that you either have a vertical monitor or you turn your tv or monitor sideways.

Re: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Adds Characters From "SEGA Universes"
The flipping animation is jarring and looks glitchy and distracting. Otherwise, the game looks great
