Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Sports Story On Switch

Yeah it's buggy and the performance is pretty bad, and it lacks the most basic of tutorials, but I've put in about 12 hours so far and have loved it. Personally, I like this more than Golf Story. Instead of being a sports game, it feels like an adventure game with puzzles solved by various sports. The lack of direction makes it pretty challenging since you actually have to explore and pay attention. The Zelda-like dungeon was awesome!

Thought this game was going to be terrible but grabbed it on PC anyway, and to my surprise, it is super solid. Feels like an old school action JRPG you might play on Vita, with farming elements obviously. Sidequests and storyline are quite good, combat is simple and engaging, and I appreciate the absence of relationship elements as they always feel like a grind. It's fun and paced well, and while I can't speak for the graphics on Switch, looks nice for what it is. Definitely don't regret the buy.

Re: Rune Factory 5 Passes 500,000 Global Sales On Switch

Put in a good 60 hours with this and was glad when it was over. I enjoyed my time and got my money's worth, but it definitely felt like a step back from RF4S (shorter story, poor performance, no seasonal fields, tasks took longer) and the move to 3D didn't really add anything. That it's selling well makes me happy, though, because even if this entry was a bit lackluster I'd gladly play another.

Re: Round Up: The Rune Factory 5 Reviews Are In

The reviews seem totally fair and the beaten to death performance issues are a real thing that definitely take a lot away from the experience. Despite the loading stutters and lag and sub-30fps choppiness, I still get immersed in the gameplay loop of goals and levelling and asking myself "what was I even doing?" because I got distracted. After an hour each session it becomes less noticeable. The core game itself is really great, it just runs poorly and if you're at all sensitive to framerates it WILL drive you nuts.

Disappointed to hear the performance issues are still present, but excited for this release nonetheless. RF4 was one of those, "fine, I guess I'll try it..." games for me and I ended up sinking well over 100 hours into it. The sandboxy and unique do anything you want (and rarely get penalized for it) gameplay seems to be duplicated in this, and I can't wait to experience that again. The art looks just fine to me and 3D will hopefully be a nice change. Bring on the bachelors!

"...those who wrongly preferred Sierra Online" HA. The good thing about PC gaming is that you can still play and enjoy both, so my friends and I got to enjoy both LucasArts and Sierra games back in the day. LucasArts was great for generally logical puzzles and not being mean and killing the player constantly, and Sierra was great for their UI (both classic text and mouse) and continuing series.

Those were the days!
