Re: Video: Digital Foundry Weighs In On Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass Texture Complaints

ss213

There is a trick to make the textures look better. Play at 200cc with a wheel xD.

And if you can use a wheel that comes with a shift stick (so you can drive with only one hand on the wheel) then they "look" even better.

Anyway.... MK Home Circuit still plays better than MK 8. It has more realistic graphics, infinite courses, FPV, and the driving mechanics feel better (if you are drifting and stop accelerating, you can still mantain the drift, which feels better than having to brake during the drift, specially if you are playing using pedals).

Re: Video: Digital Foundry's Technical Analysis Of Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes

ss213

Ah.... gonna pass. This os not the way to go. Instead of tunning down the resolution (which is horrible when it is constantly changing) design the game with less graphical details so it can run at 60fps 720p on handheld (even if it ends up looking like a gamecube game). I'd rather it be sharp and smoth with less details than low resultion high details with bad fps.

Re: Take-Two Files Lawsuit Against Creators Of The GTA Reverse Engineering Project

ss213

@AndreaF96 that would be a counterfit copy. It doesnt use the original materials but it imitates the product to the point where it can be confused with the original. Still ilegal.

It would be easier if those passionate develepors had to give take-two 90% of whatever they earn because of the game. Or if take-two foeced them to charge X dollars for the game, with take 2 earning 90%.

My point is that if that there were laws that allowed these games to exist as long as they paid a "tax" for copyright per download it would make things much easier. And it qould be an ofdicial great way for artists/developers to show their talent to companies.

Re: Suda51 Bids Farewell To Travis Touchdown As No More Heroes 3 Launches On Switch

ss213

What a message for the day the game releases. Thanks for your dedication to this final entry. Travis strikes again wasn't that great for me, but NMH 1 and 2 are 2 of my all time favorite games, even more since the switch HD releases.

Travis doesnt fit in our modern day era where everything might sound offensive, so I am really looking forward to playing it. I do hope it's as good or even better than 1 and 2. It would be great to have a trilogy of such quality.

Re: Where To Pre-Order Nintendo Switch OLED Model

ss213

Wanna a know the truth?? This revision was set to launch last year in october, before next gen consoles.
However since the pandemic and the animal crossing effect sold ton of switches, nintendo was in no hurry to release it (specially taking into account that for most part of the year there were shortages on electronics).

So yeah,it might feel weird because we are getting this "tiny" revision a year late and because videogame news sites were so bored that they had to constantly insist on a new switx coming.
I mean, come on, websites like this one have "told" us since summer 2017 that an improved switch was around the corner.

Good journalist would apoligise for creating more than 20 articles based on rumors that they assumed would become truth eventually in some form. But they have not. This new revision has nothing to do with anything switch pro related (as the switch pro communicated by videogame news websites)

In addition, there will be no switch pro. A next gen switch?? Maybe, but not a switch pro (in the sense of a New 3ds).

Programing for switch is already hard because it's underpowered and you have to optimize for tv and for handheld. Imagine having a pro switch, it would mean that developers would have to program for 4 different kinds of display (4k tv, and 1080p handheld for switch pro, and 1080p tv and 720p for handheld, and yeah, 1080p tv and 1080p handheld would need different optimizations).

So having to optimize for 4 displays just to release the game on one console could be the death of switch.

Switch pro makes no sense, next gen switch does, and we are still far away from it (we will get it when prime 4 comes, which will be a launch game for next gen switch, like breath for wii u and switch.

Source... who cares, it's valid as any other switch pro source, aka, wishful thingking+imagination.

Re: Video: Are 2D Games Worth $60? Jon, Alex And Zion Share Their Own Thoughts

ss213

People have mental budgets associates to different needs. The fun/entertainment is one of them, and in deppendence on how passionate you are about fun/entertainment products, you choose what percentage of your wealth you assign that budget.

As an easy market rule, that gives a somehow "objective value" of that entertaiment/fun, we have movie theaters. For about 10 euros you can enjoy 1 hour and a half of entertainment (not replayable). So if a game lasts about 2 h and it offers you an equal level of fentertainment/fun as a "good movie" (that is, one you dont regret paying for after you have watched it) then the game "can" cost at least 10 euros. Lowering that price will make it more competitive, but that choice will depend on the sellers. If the game offers you a lot more fun than a good movie then it "could" charge you more.

All of this oviously deppends on the willingness of people to pay for it, and most of the time the problem is that instead of taking into account how much the hour and quality of fun will cost you, they take into account how much the alternatives/competitors charge you for it.

That said, if 2d game are not your thing, then the game will not offer you that fun and it wont make sense to paid that much for it.

But there is no rule that says that 3d games are more fun than 2d games, or that big budget games (or movies) are more fun and entertaining than the low budget ones. That oviously will deppend on what you like.

So for 2d platformer exploration lovers, if the game last 20 hours, you could pay up to 100 euros or more.

BoW is long and entertainig, but I had tons of more fun with ocarina, majorask and Skyward. So i qould still pay more for those games than for BoW.

Concluding: for me a good game (good fun for me) can cost about 5 euros per hour, a very good game can cost 10, and an exelent game maybe 15 or 20. (And i am basically talking about campaign games here, multiplayers can never end, so the logic is a bit different).

In any case, is it worth 50 bucks?? Well, the answer is simple... Nobody can know yet. Until we play the game or see reviews and more videos it is impossible to say.

Once qe have that info, if enough people pay the 60 euros to cover game cost and expected return for Nintendo, then yeah, the game is worth 60 because the market to which it is caterdd is willing to pay it.

If only 10 people in the world are willing to pay 60, then it is not worth it, because it qont achieve nintendo sells expectations, even if for you it is worth 300 euros.

Re: Random: March 31st 2021 Is Becoming An Increasingly Depressing Day For Mario Fans

ss213

I'm starting to get tired of all the comments of supposed Nintendo suporters who keep on blaming Nintendo fanboys who deffend Nintendo.

Do you even know what a limited run means?? Since always, limited edition games have been you know, LIMITED. Being limited makes them feel more like treasures. You've got the Zelda collection for GC, Mario All-stars for wii, kirby anyversary for wii....
And you know what?? If you did not get a copy you could never play that "collection". It's how it has always been. If they weren't limited they wouldn't feel so special.

So then, regarding 3D All-Stars as another limited collection, Nintendo could have just done as always and only launch it phisically. But Nintendo wanted to be more "pro-consumer" and also decided to launch it digitally. However, if the digital version is forever in the eshop, then the "limited collection" wouldn't really feel like a "treasure". Therefore it only makes sense that it's on the eshop for a limited time.

People instead of thinking
"Wow, this collection, as others annyversary collections, could have been only physical, but Nintendo is being cool enough to also sell it for a period of time in the eshop",
think
"what?? Nintendo is so anti consumer for pulling this game out of the eshop after a limited time period, they are super greedy because they only care about you spending your money on their games, and they are super stupid because they could make more money if they did not pull it out of the eshop"

For this limited collection, anyone who wants it right know can buy it. If you want it you can get it, but people here seem to complain and fight for the right of some "supposed majority gamers" who dont want the game now and will want it after March and will get pissed because after march the game wont be available (as it has happened in the past with all limited esitions for those who come late)

Re: No More Heroes 1 And 2 Are Both Available Now On Switch In Uncensored Form

ss213

Hell yeah!! I played both on a moded Wii so I could play the uncensored versions. I love both of them, althogh I remember 2 being bettet than one (basically because you don't loose time walking in Santa Destroy) so I just bought the second one for the Switch to get a bit ready for 3. However, after 30 minutes of playing it, I was amazed by how good it played, so I went back to the eshop and purchased the first one so I can relive both of them with this new quality.

These games are unique, and it's amazing that a game with the tone of No More Heroes is so tied to Nintendo. We gotta thank the wiimote and the joycon for that luxury. And sorry switch mini owners.... The game is playable in handheld, but it lacks the satisfaction of motion blows, which in my opinion is one of the mechanics that makes the gameplay of this game so addicting.

Re: Talking Point: Can Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit Possibly Be As Good As It Looks?

ss213

Come on guysss!! This is the closest to mario kart maker that we have gotten.
Can you simply imagine using your creativity to build a track with domino effect parts?? For expample, on passing the first curve you know down a toy that then knocks down several other toys in succession until the last part falls making a bridge that you have to pass over in order to reach the goal. Im super hipped, even if controls arent great. Being able to use your imagination to build circuits which you can drive on TV with a mario kart layer is simply amazing.

Re: Poll: What's The Best 3D Mario Game?

ss213

Open world Mario games take away part of the fun I find in Mario Games.

Here is my order:

Galaxy 2 (best 3d mario ever, fun fun fun)

3d land (fell in love with the 3d effect and how it was used)

Galaxy 1 (close to galaxy 2, but the world for selecting worlds killed its pace)

3d world (close to 3d land, although I dont like the cat powerup. Great for co-op)

Odissey (very fun to beat, but too boring to wanna complete)

Sunshine (a lot more fun than expected)

64/ds (poorly aged... An Ocarina remake style for the 3ds could have changed my mind)

Re: Super Mario 3D All-Stars

ss213

my guess is that they will pull it out and bundle it exclusively with the new switch, which is rumored to launch or be announced at the time they are pulling the games out. Just guessing.

Galaxy 2 will be trully remastered (updated textures) and launch aside the new switch to demonstrate its upgraded power. Just dreaming.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry's Technical Analysis Of Crysis Remastered On Switch

ss213

I don' t really care if it looks inferior to other versions. I just wanna know if on handeld mode the game is blurry (like witcher, oninaki or YS when resolution drops).

Have they preserved graphic details at the price of more blurryness or does the game look sharp like Bullestorm??

If it looks as good as Bullestorm and has no blurryness then I'll purchaee it. If they have decided to prioritize details instead of non blurryness then its a no no.

Re: Crytek Reveals Docked And Handheld Resolutions For Crysis Remastered On Switch

ss213

@beazlen1 I get your point, and yeah, as I said, as long as there no gameplay lag anything can be played / enjoyed if you are willing to deal with. However I disagree on your las point. For me a propper port would have meant cutting down details in order to avoid the blurryness. I bought the witcher full price, and after a while playing on handeld I had to stop because the blurryness was bothering my eyes and giving me a headache. Later they released the patch with the sharpness fix but it still didnt fix enogh the issue. Which means that for me the game is unplayable on handheld. And regarding SI port, I can not applaude them because they prioritized details over non blurryness, which is a bad aproach as I explained before. You enjoyed the game because it is a good game, but without blurryness you would have probably enjoyed it more, which means that SI made a bad decision when prioritizing details. What is the point of keeping details if they are blurry??

The problem is that many games are doing the same, and is not something we should support. Or at least that is how I feel about it (taking into account my own experience).

NL could make a poll to see if we users prefer detail o non blurryness and that would be the best conclusion (I guess)
