Re: Video: We Put The Switch 2's Battery Through Its Paces With A Full Timelapse

@Ellie-Moo I sold my OLED on in favour of a Lite as I needed something pocketable. You can have two consoles on your account and just switch 'virtual' game cards between them.
Just bought Nier: Automata to try on SW2. If I get to a stage where it crashes, I can just continue playing on the Switch Lite, then go back to the SW2 when its stable again. Virtual cards are brilliant when you have more than one console.
Try Fast Fusion on Gameshare, its pretty good, even on the second console.

@Ellie-Moo it is still running the same CPU, larger screen etc. and its emulating the SW1, so you will get a little more than something like MKW or Cyberpunk, but still nowhere near the duration of the OLED.
Its about on par with the OG switch or Lite but they can't run demanding games like SW2 can.
Price to pay for progress. Bear in mind no powerful handhelds have solved this problem. There must have been magic dust in the OLED to run that lovely 7 inch screen for up to 9 hours!!

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For The Nintendo Switch 2

I am not blown away as I got exactly what I expected; a Switch Pro. I have a PS5 Pro for eye candy and this is a hybrid console I can play on the couch or the TV. Everything is faster and slicker which makes a lot of difference. If you had an eight year old smartphone, you would be looking to upgrade that too.
I dont get the gripes about the UI either, its not a PC or media centre, you just want to choose your game to play.
My only gripe is the battery life which means it will be a TV based console 90% of the time, but I have a Switch Lite for something pocketable with better battery life anyway.

Re: Nintendo Expects To Sell 15 Million Switch 2 Consoles This Financial Year

Switch sales wont grind to a halt for some time, and if prices are reduced or they bring out a Switch Lite OLED (today’s version of the New 2DS XL) they could still string out a few more million. Imagine Metroid 4 and all the other great games in a pocketable size console with a great screen. One that also serves as an additional controller for multiplayer games on SW2….

@PharoneTheGnome
You can still download all your purchased 3DS titles and Sony still sell and support downloads of ps vita games.
I bought both consoles earlier this year and pretty much filled them up right away with content I had bought over many years

Re: Every Nintendo Switch 2 Game-Key Card Release

this has been a thing since the PS4 and everyone is used to it. Yes, the data is on the disc but it is all copied to the internal storage. The disc is essentially the game key. A notable exception is the new Indiana Jones which only has 20gb on the disc. PS owners don't mind as they can sell the discs just as you can with these. The key difference is PS consoles generally come with 1TB of storage, 256gb will fill up quickly while an extra 2tb of SSD for your PS5 is about the same as a 512gb SD Express card.

Re: More Switch 2 Estimated File Sizes Seemingly Revealed

I wonder if Nintendo have forgotten about the PS Vita. A contributing factor to its demise was its use of proprietary cards which were small and expensive. It's not easy finding the new SD express and most are 256. The market will no doubt be flooded with knock offs when Switch 2 releases.

Re: Opinion: Steam Deck Fans Are Seriously Underestimating The Switch 2

splinters

If talking about a docked Switch, it might as well be comparing it to a PS5...but you can't play that in handheld mode without a Portal and a decent internet connection. They all do different things, offer different experiences. I have Switch and PS5, I also have iPads and had a Steam Deck. It was great, but the Switch got more play as a handheld and the SD couldn't compete with a PS5 on the big screen. Hell, I still get the 3DS XL and Ps Vita out as they also offer different experiences/games etc. Always like a good opinion piece, but you are comparing a Nintendo console to a PC handheld and its Steam library which are two very different markets. Where the line is blurring is the games that are available on both.

Re: UK Charts: Are People Just Waiting For Switch 2 Now? Sure Seems Like It

@Smithicus
just messing with an older Switch gifted by a mate after selling my OLED. That had 500gb of storage, this has 128, so I am loading it up with games I want to play now and/or are the ones getting updates or SW2 editions; just want to see how the transfer process works before moving the SW1 on. That card fills up pretty quickly.

Re: Japanese Charts: Mario Party Jamboree Rolls Its Way To Another Victory

As someone with a game voucher left to use before July, is this any good in single player? Im moving overseas and, while I would expect to make some friends in time, will likely be playing alone for some time. I considered Pikmin (didnt grab me) and Kirby FL for the SW2 upgrade, but that’s a very kid friendly game which I completed already. Anyone recommend this for solo play?

Re: Nintendo Direct: Mario Kart World: Every Announcement - How Would You Rate It?

splinters

I'm now on the fence about cancelling my preorder. On the one hand, 8 year old hardware, that was already behind cutting edge at the time, is desperately in need of a hardware update. On the other hand, this looked like MK8 in places, and not a game I can get excited about. The other 'selling' points of the SW2 (to a PS5 pro owner) are updates to games I already own and the extra cost of a memory card just to house my existing collection. As much as I was sure about upgrading when I slapped my money down, this hasn't really reassured me. As for £75 for it, not a chance.

@karatekid1612 maybe i have just been lucky to avoid a job where I count the hours to retirement like many of my friends. I was a teacher for 30 years, now an education consultant and will be a director of design in Switzerland. I want to look back on my life and appreciate the variety and adventure, not what a slog it was to get to retirement.
