It's Monday morning, but that's a good thing if you're a Nintendo fan in Europe, as it brings us the latest Nintendo Download Update news. This week has some typically bonkers Wii U DLC along with a range of rather tempting downloads on both systems. Let's get to it.
Wii U eShop
SDK Paint (HullBreach Studios, €4.49 / £3.99) - This app is another that aims to take advantage of the GamePad's touchscreen, enabling artists to express themselves and share their creations on Miiverse. It has its own unique approach and is regularly updated, though we only gave it a modest recommendation when it arrived in North America last year; you can check out our SDK Paint review for the full lowdown.
Wii U Virtual Console
Pac-Attack (Bandai Namco, €7.99 / £5.49) - No self-respecting mascot in the days of yore could be considered a major character unless they had their own puzzle game, and Pac-Attack fills that gap on SNES. While on the surface it looks like any other falling block puzzle game, this one actually has its own quirks and twists on the formula; we'll bring you a fresh review soon, but in the meantime you can learn more in our Wii Virtual Console Pac-Attack review. This is the US version of the game.
Cybernator (Konami, €7.99 / £5.49) - If you like 16-bit visuals and robots, this could be the game for you. An action shooter with some scrolling levels and platforming sections, showing off much of what was so much fun in the era. We gave this a strong recommendation in our Cybernator review. This is the US version of the game.
Wii U DLC
Hyrule Warriors (Koei Tecmo, €2.99 / £2.69, or free with a Season Pass) - Two new Challenge Modes (Boss Challenge and Ganon's Fury) with five new alternatively-coloured costumes as rewards. Each mode contains three battle types across three difficulty levels, as well as one extra-difficult scenario.
Wii U eShop Temporary Discount
Rock Zombie (EnjoyUp Games, €3.99 / £3.59 until 26th March, normally €6.99 / £6.29)
3DS eShop
Titan Attacks! (Curve Digital, €9.99 / £7.99) - Previously on PSN, this is a modern spin on the classic Space Invaders formula with 100 levels, boss fights, multiple environments and the option to earn in-game credit and buy power-ups for your ship - online leaderboards are also thrown in. We've enjoyed this and its chunky, colourful pixels on other systems, but we'll see how it stacks up on 3DS in our review.
Zombie Incident (Coderchild, €1.99 / £1.99) - We don't know much about this aside from the fact you guide a heroine on a quest to retrieve 8 stars, but check out the following description from the developer: "Hamartia, the great citadel, became the symbol of human sin. After centuries of excesses its penance was going to come. In the darkness of the night, chaos invaded everything. Beasts started to scream. Nothing was like before! No one sane would go to that place." Crikey.
Mes Comptines (Ringzero Games, €4.99 / £4.49) - This is a simple rhythm game for children that includes 17 nursery rhymes; as an experience for the youngest gamers it works pretty well. We gave it a thumbs up in our Mes Comptines review.
Best of Arcade Games - Tetraminos (Bigben Interactive, €9.99 / £8.99) - This series of re-jigged classics continues with some block placing puzzle shenanigans. We've been underwhelmed by some other entries in this series, with will - as always - give it a go for review.

Nothing for me.
The Hyrule Warriors DLC as I already have the season pass. Really hope there's a Direct soon that suggests this DLC isn't the last.
I might pick up rock zombie thats about it
Cybernator!!!!! That game is amazing! If you haven't played it, you owe it to yourself to make it a mandatory purchase! Amazing!
Cybernator for me and the Hyrule Warriors DLC.
I was hoping we'd get Castlevania Aria Of Sorrow this week as well, but for some odd reason they've been spacing out the Castlevania games in Europe rather than give us one each week.
Cybernator is a great VC Game, will be adding this to the library as my JP version was sold many years back.
Which should I get out of 4 Elements, Jewel Quest 4 and Jewel Quest Mysteries 3? I don't have any of these Jewel Quest type games. Also, Pac-Attack isn't worth a purchase since its also included in the GBA Pac-Man Collection.
I'll keep my eyes peeled for a review of Zombie Incident; it appears to be an arcade platformer with a metroid style map, originally developed to run on old MSX systems. Could be good for £1.99 anyway.
Edit: Based on CoderChild's track record on Nintendo Life I guess it's safe to assume this'll be a 7/10 game
Hmm, should I get harvest moon for £9 or pay a bit more for Rune factory 4? What do people think? I do love harvest moon but I've never played a Rune Factory game.
Cybernator
And of course the Boss Pack, since I have the season pass.
@Grumblevolcano i think we had enough
Maybe Virtue's Last Reward but I still need to import 999.
When's the next Mario Kart 8 DLC due out ?
They seriously think somebody is going to buy stand-alone Pack-attack as the same price of Pac-man Collection?
Virtue's Last Reward is a tempting one at that price.
@SonsofBelichick May.
3DS VC has dried up lately (except for 3D classics). Japan is the same. Wish Ninty would give some indication on what their plans are
How nice of you to release everything Kirby related BUT THE ACTUAL NEW GAME. Seriously, is this supposed to be NoE's idea of a consolation prize?
Hyrule dlc, Cybernator and Zombie Incident (which looks pretty cool - http://www.coderchild.com/zombieincident/ ) for me!
Really hope there's something in the works for the 3DS VC soon, its been pretty light for a while now. A lot of good games they could be making available. I'd still love to see some Virtual Boy games get a release...
Cybernator! My dearest game!!!
Kind of a dull week...
VLR for £8 is a very good price.
As a newcomer to the harvest moon franchise would ToTT be a gooid entry point? I am considering picking it up and from what i read it sounds to be a more simpler game than other harvest moon games. That would be a bonus to me since i would be totally new to the series.
Pokemon Shuffle must be doing well, seemingly every puzzle game on 3DS is on sale.
Looking forward to Ganon.
@Bass_X0 I'm tempted by Harvest Moon too
Edit: Ugh, not sure why the site decided to reply to the wrong comment, I was actually replying to @luke88 :/
Sorry @Bass_X0
I thought the Hyrule Warriors Boss Pack wasn't out until March 12.
Really surprised that Pac-Attack is coming to Wii U VC, considering that it was part of the Pac-Man Collection. On the other hand, this isn't the first time that Nintendo has released two versions of the same game on the eShop (SMB2; SMAdvance).
@abbyhitter that's not for anywhere but in America. NOA needs to get their act together because DLC ought to release worldwide simultaneously since it's already done. This is the second late DLC as both were scheduled to be already released originally.
@speedyboris Nintendo isn't making that decision, it's a Bandai Namco game.
Super Mario Bros. 2 and Super Mario Advance are acceptable. Super Mario Advance has several differences compared to the original NES game. Super Mario Advance 2 is pointless because its not that different to SNES Super Mario World.
I sadly missed the discounts on Stealth Inc 2, The Swapper and Thomas Was Alone due to not having internet at home atm.
It would be great if that sale was coming again soon.
@Zach777 Well, that's why I thought it was coming out on March 12. The official site said so: http://zelda.com/hyrule-warriors/dlc/
I wonder why Europe is getting it so early.
@manu0 I worded that badly. My overall point still stands: That there's sometimes more than one version of a game on the eShop.
@luke88
I have both, and I wouldn't get Rune Factory 4 if I could go back in time. Not that it's a bad game, I just got to a point where I felt hopelessly lost with the combat element. I needed to level up to tackle harder enemies but I couldn't upgrade equipment etc in order to level up, so I felt I was in a catch 22 situation. But that's just me/my inexperience of this game etc. Rune Factory is a little more hard core gaming than Harvest Moon.
@abbyhitter It's probably only coming out in the US March 12th. As for why Europe is getting it early, probably has something to do with the game drought caused by the 5+ month delay of Kirby and the Rainbow Curse.
Can anyone confirm that the new Hyrule Warriors pack helps in farming materials dropped by bosses? I got kinda discouraged from playing, since every character has a ton of different materials needed to unlock badges, and I'm always reluctant to use any, because I haven't figured out where to reliably get more (although I was working on unlocking some illustrations). I figured this pack might group most/ all bosses in the same area, making it far easier to get their mats.
Maybe it'll help leveling too. Seems it usually goes at a snail's pace...
Woot!
Cybernator and Hyrule Warriors DLC.
BIT.TRIP SAGA surely has to be a steal at £4.49
@Bass_X0 Yeah I'd get Pac Attack, but I have the GBA Pac Man Collection already in my VC box. Hyrule Warriors DLC I have coming to me from the season pass, but I've never played Cybernator so I'll check that out.
@Grumblevolcano Even if this is the last DLC, the Season Pass has been well worth its value, with all the tremendous content offered.
Nintendo still doesn't want that VC free money. Crazy! Still tons to bring out
That's a good deal on Virtues Last Reward.
Hyrule Warriors DLC for me, still holding out for a Skyward Sword and Ocarina of Time pack for Groose and Nabooru.
Nintendo still doesn't want that VC free money. Crazy! Still tons to bring out
It costs money to put games onto the VC so putting a lot out too quickly will result in some games being overlooked. Three games every week across Wii U and 3DS, regardless of what those games actually are, is the best option.
Titan Attacks for me! Tempted by a couple of the discounts too
Yet another suckey week. Jesus. Well, back to the Wii's (superior) Virtual Console. Out of these I'm only getting Hyrule DLC, but I bought that long ago.
BIT.TRIP SAGA for £4.49 is an incredible deal considering each one of the six WiiWare games were 1000 points/£7 thats £42 worth of premium WiiWare games for £4.49 and should look incredible in 3D on the (super stable) New 3DS.
Clicked 'Nothing for me this week' before noticing the 'One of the Kirby 3DS HOME Themes' option.. whoopsie! Definitely getting one of those!
I didn't care for Pac-Attack on the GBA Collection. As a stand alone release, it almost feels like some kind of "filler" release. This is my last week until I start my studies again and I was hoping for Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow or Mega-Man Battle Network 2 (US had that I believe). Hell, even one of the first 2 Super Mario Advance games (which the US also supposedly received) or Super Circuit would have been nice!
@ryan3ds - I believe my 3ds is the same. Not sure about others, but it hasn't really affected mine negatively at all since I got it last November.
Kirby themes for me. I don't have Hyrule Warriors so I can't get the DLC and the rest of the games don't interest me at all. Also more complaining about the Virtual Console I see... When will we ever stop?
Well at least you gamers in Europe are getting 2 vc games a week! Us American gamers are STILL dealing with the drip feed of 1 a week!! NOA really sucks!! That said I don't understand why namco would put out snes PAC-attack when they know damn well it's in the gba PAC-man collection!! For the same price? Umm - the gba collection has 3 other games namco?? Here's an idea namco...how bout some of the many other classics you have like: splatterhouse 1,2&3- Rolling thunder 1&2- marvel land-phelios-dragon spirit- sky kid- burning force- Ms PAC-MAN?? There is no rhythm & rhyme with the wii u vc service at all in all regions except japan where the wii u vc service is in great shape with many choices America & Europe don't have such as 28 games from the turbo16/PC engine system!!!! Also Japan's wii u gets 3-4 vc games a week!!! What kills me is wii u selling worst in japan of all 3 regions!! I don't get it at all!!
@ryan3ds yeah mines the same, you can move it a tiny bit from side to side,i just been lookin on net and lots have it on theres, think cause they had problems on dsi snapping, but my old 3ds xl was fine, still a bit pooooooooop thou on a new version
Another crap week of releases for the Wii U.
I see the VC is still a joke.
@joey302 The Wii U isn't a handheld and its RPG library is pretty much nonexistent, that's why it's not selling well in Japan. If anything will increase its sales it'll be Xenoblade Chronicles X.
@SonsofBelichick In May Such a long time to wait.
I thought of a reason why Pac-Attack should have came to the Wii U Virtual Console - so that those of us who have downloaded it on Wii can transfer it across to Wii U. But thats the only reason.
