@SirLink yes but switch 2 comparatively isn’t cheap.
I’m also a bit skeptical of these sales numbers. In Toronto there is a lot of consoles on marketplace for a meager $25 profit. Seems like a lot of people bought them to flip them but no one wants to pay even more money. Maybe the other people bought them because ps4 and Xbox launches were so bad they were concerned it’s now or never. But I’m concerned about the long term viability of this price and yes I understand inflation. But not everyone buying a Nintendo console is buying it to play portable. Some people just want to play Nintendo games. Will those people pay a premium for a feature they won’t actually use. I won’t.
@Dee123 PlayStation doesn’t have any games. I’m not sure how to stay positive about that. Xbox is basically abandoning its hardware. I’m not sure how to stay positive about that. Nintendo is back to being a leader which means we’re back to aggressive Nintendo practices which will cost the consumer more. I’m not sure how to be positive about that.
Triple a games take too long and cost too much to make across the board and it’s hurting the industry. Further we can see that console adoption is becoming an older person thing while kids skip on consoles and use their phones. I’m sure that’s hard to deal with as well.
Finally games graphics have basically slowed down in how much each generation actually leaps over the previous generation. And game design really hasn’t changed much since ps3 days even with the increased power. So there’s stagnation and every year that stagnation becomes more apparent.
I honestly think for some people if you are at all critical or objective it is heard as being negative. Perhaps people come to video games to escape reality so they don’t want their vibe killed. Yet it seems people like honest movie reviews, music reviews, sports takes. So I’m not completely sure. Maybe consoles produce fans and fans have a harder time accepting their item isn’t perfect. Nothing is perfect.
@8bitKirby it’s better for companies because they don’t need to print anything. It saves them money.
I don’t know how you can know that I had five switches and think all I do is complain. Clearly I liked the system to buy it five separate times. That doesn’t mean I don’t have my limits. And as an owner and supporter since 85 I may have some entitlement issues. For sure I supported this company my fair share. I simply don’t like the pricing direction of this system. That isn’t a crime.
@RiasGremory it’s not fine for people who only play docked. This system is $50 more than the digital version of the ps5. If Nintendo is actually consumer friendly they should have a cheaper tv option. The fact that they don’t is for their own profits. It’s anti consumer and it’s as bad as anything PlayStation or Xbox has done to make money. In fact because Nintendo has positioned itself as a family company I think it’s more egregious.
@Edu23XWiiU if Nintendo had gone third party we all would have been enjoying botw in 4k 60fps a long time ago. We wouldnt have 1-2 switch and Mario party with motion controls. But Mario would have worked. Donkey Kong tropical freeze would have worked. Mario kart would have worked. Pokémon would have liked better. I care about the experience not which box I load up so for me as a docked player I would have liked that.
@electrolite77 my only hope is that switch lite bombed so they change their strategy this time for the lower end market. But they’re so heavily Japanese focused to a fault I can’t see them thinking tv gaming is a thing.
@Ogbert it’s semantics and it’s part of marketing. Give me a few minutes and I can think of Nintendos revisionist history as well. I don’t exactly see Nintendo marketing their love hotels history.
These are companies. We all need to accept them as such. They have one goal. To make as much money as possible. And here we are as the consumers trying to make ourselves feel better that our company isn’t as bad as so and so. They’re all not great.
@Ogbert great. Nintendo and its fans at one point thought they would never have paid online. Here it is. They thought there wasn’t going to be dlc. Here it is. That games would stay at certain prices yet here’s MKW. Microsoft is of course going to PR paint themselves as the good guys. But Nintendo has painted themselves as our family yet at the same time slowly moving everything to being more expensive. The reality is that whatever company is behind offers the best deals to win people over. Once inside they rip you off.
@HugoGED games evolution has grinder to a halt on all systems so I am not sure I am buying what you are selling. These systems do need more power to run open world games but I question if that’s needed. We need a new system because that’s how Nintendo keeps players engaged and keeps making money. We will look back in five years and then we can question how much evolution truly took place.
Maybe mouse support will be a big thing. I’m a bit confused why that’s so important to nintendo when they expect half the time their users will be playing portable.
@Truegamer79 they are the king even if they are stubborn. Dual analogues was the right choice and it took a while to get there. Some choices also didn’t have the longevity such as motion control. And they are absolutely last to the online scene which if you didn’t notice is a big scene. They passed on mindcraft so they are capable of making mistakes but they aren’t as dumb as Xbox which thought it bought the dk franchise.
@cvrator I love Nintendo games. I don’t want to get into this nonsense. I have owned every Nintendo since 1985. I have owned a donkey Kong arcade cabinet. I grew up with Mario wallpaper and Zelda bed sheets. I memorized issues of Nintendo power. Won video game tournaments. Nintendo games are of course good games. I don’t know what reality you think I made up. I am a docked player. Almost exclusively. It is my preference. As a result I have no use for paying almost twice as much for a system then it should be just because it’s portable. By the way I had 5 Nintendo switches for a lan party room. But I personally am out at this price. I’m also annoyed that all of a sudden graphics seemingly matter to Nintendo fans. If graphics don’t matter than we didn’t need a new system because that’s literally what this system does. Prettier graphics. We could have had these graphics a while ago if the switch one wasn’t a hybrid. But what do I know. You’re the true fan.
@SuntannedDuck2 it’s an arcade game. This was the content that was included. The price is steeper than other ACA games but this is a far cry from MKW. They will release Ridge Racer 2 and then Rave Racer. You add that up and it’s still cheaper than MKW. Buy what you want but this isn’t a compilation so people need to get over it.
@Qwiff you can’t actually look at two screens at the same time. And spoiler alert it takes more time to move your head to the second screen then it does to press X and bring up the map.
@Narrator1 the problem is nintendo was always the affordable console. And now I can buy a series S cheaper than a switch 2. So it’s not the affordable system that it once was. Also a lot of Nintendo portable players end up buying multiple systems. I don’t know why a Zelda portable is a must have but for some people it is. So that’s more money into Nintendos pockets. People realized that and wanted to March. Or at least type “drop the price” on repeat.
5 years ago when Xbox and PlayStation fans pointed out why was BOTW sub 30fps and less than stellar resolution Nintendo fans mocked Xbox users and PlayStation fans as “not real gamers”. And switch was “good enough”. Fast forward to 2025 Nintendo releases a new switch and Nintendo fans are drooling over their 4k 60fps botw. Less than a week later Xbox drops a new handheld and here we are back to Nintendo is “good enough!”
Crazy that for so long these games were considered “good enough” to Nintendo fans and when Xbox or PlayStation users commented on the resolution or frame rate they were mocked as graphics whores. Now the reason to buy a switch 2 is for the graphics. Times are changing I guess.
@rvcolem1 so a tv only model which would be more durable because there would be no fear of a battery giving out is a solution. Nice. I thought it was only me.
@Protion9 a lot of third party games are cheaper on other platforms. I have been told over and over again that games are worth the price on switch because you can play portable. I never play portable personally but if this is the justification than I don’t know why suddenly it doesn’t apply here.
@KociolekDoSyta I find the switch 2 and Mario kart world price offensive. Yet I’ve been told it’s worth it to some people or to vote with my wallet. So this is worth it to me and you can vote with your wallet. Thanks.
@DTfearTheBEARD hey did you manage to get two. I’d really like to know how the wifi is for local wireless play. I used to have to put all my switches side by side in their docks to not lose connection. I’m hoping that won’t be an issue with switch 2 and they can play further apart.
@Gohanjin I’ve never heard this complaint before. It was all frame rate and some people hated the blur while others thought it was an artistic decision.
I’d like to know what the new resolutions actually are and what the frame rates will be versus a vague description “ Visuals: Optimized for the Nintendo Switch 2 display and high-resolution TVs for improved image quality.”
@dojmin my son loves this game. Hours spent. He likes Pokémon but can’t read well enough to play a mainline game without someone sitting next to him. But he’s in sr kindergarten.
@Satan in that case ACA can release Konami NBA play by play which doesn’t have a proper game dump and I’ll pay for it. But that’s a licensed game so no luck.

Re: Yes, Call Of Duty Is Still On The Way To Nintendo Hardware
@Spaceman44 what are you talking about. On Nintendo you can screen watch and see your friends face when you kill then. All at 10fps.

@Ganner been here since 85. People still defending their companies to the death even if it affects them in the process.

@8bitKirby this will be your last generation then. Even Nintendo is doing their part to kill physical games. Digital Kirby from 2030 forward.

Re: Xbox Officially Enters The Handheld Space, But Nintendo Won't Be Worried
@electrolite77 this is all I’m asking. Switch 2 in Canada is 629 or 699. While a Xbox series X is 679.
So switch 2 is cheaper? But no where near as powerful. Add in a switch pro controller if you don’t have any and it’s more than a series X.
If you’re never going to play handheld that is a large pill to swallow.
There could be a Porsche in the garage and I could still think it’s too expensive for what I’m using it for.
