The pricing is crazy. I essentially avoid things like the capcom collections because I like the individual icons on my menu screen. But this is like half of the capcom fighting collection which will eventually go on sale.
@Haruki_NLI all we were asking for is to be able to message people and to chat with a headset. No one asked for this. Oh look Nintendos doing it so it’s cool. Wait a second this is going to effect games performance. Now you have to ask yourself is it worth it. Nintendo clearly thinks it is. But Nintendo also thinks a whole bunch of other ideas of theirs are great which I’m sure many of us would question.
This is like how Xbox one has resources dedicated to Kinect. Even when they stopped selling Kinect the resources were lost and the ps4 games ran better. For instance black ops 3 is 1080p on ps4 and only 900p on Xbox one and you can notice the difference. This isn’t a feature I will use and guess what I’d always rather the performance.
@Monkeido not too long ago you were paying $60 a game. It wasn’t that long ago. They sold 68 million copies of Mario Kart 8. How much do you think it cost them to develop MK8? How much do you think it cost them to develop MKworld? Well according to this price increase at the same sales rate they will make an extra billion dollars in sales. I highly doubt that’s about inflation. It should be obvious it’s about profits.
Make way for Nintendo to keep justifying porting games at full price while even companies such as EA or Activision, which this community hates, remasters and releases games in a 2/3 pack bundle at often less price.
Or is this just inflation again. I have a hard time understanding when it’s greed versus, shrug everything costs more and live with it, inflation.
Not only does ea not raise the price of their games. They are notorious for dropping their major sports games by 80% at the end of the year. That to me is a good deal but ok Nintendo fans who might get 33% off for remastered wii or wii u games I guess ea sucks.
@electrolite77 I should have replied to your comment I guess first. I have 7 TVs because I prefer to buy one ever other year that’s a mid level tv than to buy the very best and be all in. The other thing is tv size prices go down all the time.
@jfp yes because I buy a new tv every few years and rotate the old tv somewhere else. It doesn’t mean I’m rich. I’d rather buy the mid level tv and upgrade it every once in a while than buy the best tv money can buy and be all in.
@electrolite77 maybe I’m strange. But our house has 7 tvs yet only 4 people. The fact that the switch 2 comes with a screen doesn’t make It cheaper for my house. We have more than enough TVs that a tv only version would be cheaper to us.
@jfp I think we picture corporate scenes from the movie “elf” or “big” where companies are there to make as much money as possible. I’m ok with that but don’t pretend you’re our friends and anytime you explain why prices go up I can’t just accept that as truth since I know that making money is the ultimate plan so you will likely lie in order to make that end goal.
“According to Activision’s current Call of Duty head Patrick Kelly (via the court filings,) we now know the development cost for those three specific CoD titles ranged from $450 to $700 million. These figures were included in files for a lawsuit against Activision surrounding the 2022 Robb Elementary school shooting filed in May 2024. For Black Ops III, the game was developed over three years for over $450 million and has sold 43 million copies since it launched in 2015. 2019’s Modern Warfare remake had a similar multi-year development cycle but jumped to over $640 million in associated costs and is now around 41 million copies sold”
Sports illustrated.
Are we suggesting that Nintendo is spending 200 million developing a Mario game? I highly doubt that.
@larryisaman can someone compare the standard size of a Nintendo developer team to a triple A call of duty game or any other franchise. I somehow think that making Mario kart world 8 which has no licenses actually takes a smaller development team than say forza horizon. Yet here we are with the price increase and fans justifications.
@Hwatt I do think Mario maker could use that mouse support though. Would have been nice on the original switch if I could have plugged in a usb mouse. It really shouldn’t be this complicated.
@NintendoWife the display must technically be about to do 120fps so let’s slap that on the box but there’s so few Xbox series X games that support this at a decent recoslution it’s as useless as ray tracing. At the rate nintendo develops their systems it will be switch 4 before there’s actually a good amount of 120fps games and or ray tracing.
@sanderev wait a second. You don’t want the billion dollar company to treat the customer like a charity but you want the customer to treat the business like a charity as if the money from these increases will go to the developers. It’s going to the shareholders holders.
Other companies sell a fraction of the units that Nintendo games do and then they eventually go in deep discount. The fact that they are selling way more units plus only go as low as 33% off means that Nintendo has a winning strategy. Take away gold points and vouchers and Nintendo is even better off.
The very best selling call of duty sold 43 million. Mario Kart 8 deluxe sold 68 million.
Nintendo has its money right. They just want more money.

@electrolite77 every year gas and wages go up. Yet prices fell. You have to solely lean on semiconductors as your argument. Tv prices continue to fall. Other electronics have gotten cheaper. I’m confused why these electronics are the outlier.
I’d also like to hear about these wages were talking about when discussing china electric company factory workers. Not too long ago apple employees were committing suicide at work. Am I to believe that the Nintendo factory is paying a respectable wage at the assembly factory?
@electrolite77 it’s greed. This is the first console generation ever that consoles went up. People are greedy in 2025. That doesn’t mean it costs more to make.
Doesn’t really matter anyways since Xbox and PlayStation have been selling consoles now for five years. Those that wanted one have one.
All of the comments of I never want to play a person in a wheel chair is partially how I believe Nintendo got to the art style. They wanted one to be inclusive and help those with accessibility issues to feel included and cool. Two they wanted the general public to look at wheelchairs more favourably than pity. Based on the games everyone wants (Mario kart world, donkey Kong, breath of the wild 4k) I think even if most of you want traditional games too. Gimmicks tend to suck.
@KingMike you’re buying it for Nintendo first party games. How many of us actually used the joy con as a controller off the switch. We could get rid of that gimmick like the lite did. How many of us played games with those joy cons that needed motion control like 1-2 switch, arms or the first Mario party? Not many and even though Nintendo pushed this there was no arms 2 and they eventually made a buttons only Mario party. HD rumble. It’s a big name but how often was it used. Just a lot of gimmicks which make the hardware more expensive and in the joy cons case with those sticks unreliable. When the Wii u was out people were like oh I can’t imagine playing mario kart without a map on my big plastic gimmick touch screen. Yet look at how well Mario kart sold. Apparently a big button to honk your horn was not needed and perhaps Wii u would have done better without the gimmick which added a cost to the console.
@electrolite77 I think if Microsoft and Sony manage to take loses on their consoles then Nintendo can afford to do it. I think if Microsoft and Sony can manage to sell their games at 70 then Nintendo can afford to do it. Those game prices arent a loss so I’m very confused why it costs nintendo so much to make a game. I’m going to be very honest. I can barely see the graphical update from Mario kart 8 to Mario kart world!
I also think there isn’t many first party games. Zelda spin off won’t buy. Donkey Kong is a yes. Mario kart only because it’s in a bundle. Kirby what are we doing. Why are we getting two kart racers in such a short time and the justification of no analogue buttons is crazy. They matter at least on a pro controller. I won’t be buying F1 on this thing that’s for sure.
@electrolite77 it’s a problem of the company if the people who once bought your products can no longe afford it. You have no one to sell it to or less people to sell it to.

Theres a reason iTunes took off. No viruses and reasonable pricing. There’s a reason Netflix took off. Simple to use cheap to subscribe. Once you hit a certain price though people are going to screw the man. That’s life. They don’t need to be this greedy.
