If this was standalone I would buy it. Attached to the service. I’m out. And I’m amazed Nintendo fans who constantly hated things locked behind dlc and subscriptions or key cards because of preservation somehow do the mental gymnastics to think this is OK or “good enough”. 14 games all locked away. Great.
@Pipulitoch I didn’t expect a new game but I thought maybe more than a port. Galaxy more like the Metroid prime remastered version. But that would take work. This was essentially a port that they get to sell you a book for. You don’t need to take business in uni. Just follow Nintendo long enough and you can figure this all out in your daily life.
Now we know why aces didn’t get a free upgrade. Don’t free upgrade any of the old games like yoshi if you’re about to release a new game in the series. Genius.
@Darthmoogle that’s insane. All that happened is people complained in their own echo chamber. Did anyone call the company and personally talk to someone. That is literally the only way these companies figure out what customers want. Surely they couldn’t use ai to search the comments and read the room.
So what you’re telling me is that 60fps is only for switch 2. But also on other threads 60fps doesn’t matter. So essentially there’s no reason to own a switch 2.
@AussieMcBucket definitely getting more paid upgrades hidden behind dlc. The real question is will there be free upgrades. I’m guessing no Nintendo selects. No free upgrades. We want your monies. All of it till you’re living on the street where the portability comes in real handy.
@electrolite77 no worries sir. I’ll speak for myself. But you represent yourself as well. Neither of us are approaching these discussions exactly with a petition on us. That said if I read the room correctly there are more than a few negative nellys just as there are a few “good enoughers”
@DashKappei in 1982 I had a black and white tv. In 85 my first nes was on that black and white tv. Perhaps we should really be anti graphics snob and go back to the good old days of just fun. Hey the og game boy was black and white. It can be retro.
Btw 30fps is the exact opposite of a smoother experience.
@Cyberbotv2 it’s better that is an uncapped frame rate. That means when switch 3 is here it will stable it out to 60fps. I wish all switch one games were uncapped. Now we’re playing locked 30fps switch one games on switch 2. Think of the long game. That’s what we have to do.
@Runex2121 I hate to break it to you but most sports game iterate on each other so I wouldn’t expect massive gains. That said you think madden is great on switch so this might be up your alley. I wish I would have realized how iterative this hybrid was before I bought it. Mistakes were made.
@JayJ don’t worry. We will have to just buy the best model tv to compensate for the actual hybrid we’re supposed to love. Let me trade in my tv for vrr just to make this damn thing run half decent.
To be fair a oled screen did hide a lot of switch ones faults. Good thing Nintendo decided to ditch that with switch 2. Now we can clearly see the faults once again.
@Vyacheslav333 what world are you living in. Since Xbox one X I have been playing sports games in only 4k 60fps. Are there giant open world games that are 30fps. Sure. That’s not what we’re talking about here.
@electrolite77 we understand. You’ve explained it. That doesn’t mean that we’re happy with the trade off.
Also for years portables were made relatively affordable because they offered smaller games that didn’t need as much power. Here we are trying to make a portable do things it wasn’t meant to do at no longer a discounted cost.
@electrolite77 again this portable costs the same as ps5 digital in Canada. And in any world this thing costs more than a series S. But comes with half the storage so add that and a pro controller and this isn’t exactly cheap. (The fact the old sd cards don’t work is a real crusher)
Perhaps wwe makes it work because there’s less wrestlers in a ring at any time then there are basketball players on a court.
@Alex79uk the argument is this is a portable. You have to compare this to a steam deck. The problem is most are not comparing to a steam deck because that is such a small part of the market. It’s natural to compare to Xbox or PlayStation. And that’s where the disappointment is.
@Stegiand I’m not ok with either the developers or Nintendos decision to release this as the only option for Nintendo fans at the cost it would have to be to include a screen and a battery and the tech inside. If there was a tv only switch at a reduced price I’d be giving a lot more passes. But this is an expensive system so people are going to be frustrated.
@Stegiand I feel like with this system people are always going to be pointing to cyberpunk and or street fighter 6. No different than the Witcher 3 miracle port on switch. Just because one company manages to do it well doesn’t mean every company will be able to. The better metric is what’s happening generally across the board. And well that’s 1440p switch one games. So good luck with anything actually next gen.
@Misima sir. This is not a portable. It is in fact a hybrid. Neither the pros of being portable (lighter and cheaper) nor the pros of being a console (powerful and reliability). So sir there will be complaints. Please understand.
Btw the switch 2 is the same price as a ps5 digital where I’m from. So there will be comparisons. Please understand.
@AussieMcBucket I was being sarcastic. We’re now going to go a whole generation paying the same prices for under performing games all for the benefit of playing portable. At least in the good old days of every portable before the switch you got the games at a cheaper price than the comparable console version. Now we’re just paying for less.
Well they had to close the fruitfull conversation in the “will third party games ever just work” thread. So feel free to leave your honest disappointment here.
30fps is completely acceptable in 2025 and anyone who thinks it’s not has unrealistic expectations of this portable system that costs as much as a PlayStation digital.
@OpheliaDynamight sorry. You’re right I was being hostile. On this site if you’re unhappy with the current state of Nintendo you it’s an either a you problem or you’re not a “real” fan or a troll. I’ve spent tens of thousands of dollars on Nintendo and I am frustrated by their fan base who is super protective of their favourite company. Spoiler alert it’s my favourite company too. I’m just not happy with a lot of the modern Nintendo era. Sorry for taking it out on you.

Re: Super Mario Bros. Wonder Is Getting A Nintendo Switch 2 Edition
Why didn’t they mention if the game is getting a resolution boost. Should that be assumed. I assume nothing with Nintendo.

@Pipulitoch I’m not ok with full priced rereleases when evil companies like activision or ea manages to remaster their games for the same prices.
Re: Mario Tennis Fever Hits Switch 2 Next February
@Ade117 aces looked solid. I think with these sports games we need to wait and see. But good work being an eternal optimist.
Re: Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 Bundle Confirmed For Switch, Launching October
@Pipulitoch please remaster games not port games. Please understand.
Re: A Brand New Yoshi Adventure Is Heading To The Switch 2
I wonder if wooly world is officially dead. Makes me sad.
Re: Mario Tennis Fever Hits Switch 2 Next February
@tourjeff my six year old was completely confused why but it. Then he saw the baby Mario’s and it’s must buy. Nintendo knows what they’re doing.
Re: Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 Bundle Confirmed For Switch, Launching October
@N00BiSH love 3d land. Hope when it gets ported it gets more respect than this quick and dirty release.

@AussieMcBucket super Mario wonder paid dlc and upgrade is a given.
Princess peach showtime paid DLC and upgrade.
