For me, it was the Telethia transformation and aftermath. Going back to Agniratha to see it overrun by Telethia who used to be the local population... getting sent to recover a photo album now guarded by the family's now transformed parent, learning of telethia that helped by instinct protect their untransformed young... learning why so many of the younger Hi Entia had smaller wings, why the royal family required breeding with homs, why Princess Melia was their future... seeing her step-mother and sister and having the sister realize she was not pure blooded either... seeing ultimately the sacrifice the race had known it would be forced to make one day and trying to prepare for it and ultimately facing a genocide...
I wasn't expecting a Switch Direct at this point, much less new game announcements for the Switch, so the Direct definitely exceeded my expectations and thus, I rate it high.
Xenoblade Chronicles had one of the best openings of all time, controlling Dunban with the Monado battling an unsurmountable Mechon army, with the best stinger ending of the 'opening' with the camera zooming out through the entire world...
The Switch news feed has frequent articles that are effectively curated lists of recommended games with a variety of criteria. The store should have a section that allows looking at these various 'curated lists' using news feed 'voting' data to determine which ones show up.
The tweak I am hoping for? Even more variety in weapon types — that actually change gameplay and interactions with the physics and chemistry of the world. The more variety, the more sense behind the durability mechanic, and finding new things to do with new weapons you constantly have to pick up and use.
Very strong week, and limiting choices to 5 is limiting... wanted to pick 8! The ones I ended up not submitting but were on my list are Velocity 2X, Light Fingers, and Broken Age
@Stuffgamer1 I had to scroll a long way down to finally find someone who was pointing this out. For the article's author: 1-2 Switch does NOT support cloud saves, because 1-2 Switch does not support LOCAL SAVES either.
And of course, allow me to customize the Folders. Icons, tile layout, backgrounds, etc... I would like to be able to specify a SNES folder that looks like an SNES and that is auto-filled with all SNES games, including Link to the Past even though it also shows in the separate 'Zelda' folder with the Link badge I put on that folder.
I wouldn't mind Nintendo Badge Collection to be part of the system, but do allow games to add Badges as well. Maybe even part of an Achievement system.
Oh, and implement Smart Folders finally. Folders where you can (1-time) specify your 'Filter' criteria and matching games will auto-populate in them. Allow me to have a 'Zelda' folder and a 'Mario' folder without having to add those games in those folders manually. Allow me to have a M-rated folder and a Party Games folder without having to add those games in manually. Etc.
1) VC service is a must. 2) VC service needs to include full back catalog from Wii and Wii U — including the non-Nintendo consoles. 3) An upgrade fee per title is fine, but they need to provide a 1-time 'ALL' upgrade option for people with a lot of titles that reasonably covers the costs of the work put in the new VC technology. 4) The new VC tech needs to enable memory management that mimics the original systems without 'fridge' management problems. This means if larger 'fridges' are not possible, then multiple ones should. This is most important for stuff like Gamecube and WiiWare. 5) Yup. WiiWare and eShop titles need to carry forward, even if they are also part of the VC service.
Actually, there is a Cross-Buy option; buying either version enables a 50% discount on the other version. This stacks with the 10% Nindies Jam discount, as well...
I picked 3D Mario platformer, Zelda Breath of the Wild, Pikmin 4, Metroid Prime, and Nintendo Land.
Don't know why Mario Party is tied to Nintendo Land in the options though; completely different type of games.
If Fire Emblem or Advance Wars were options, I'd pick those instead. I'd even pick Xenoblade even though its not realistic that a new one would release that soon!
I think the poll is quite unfair to group Mario Party with Nintendo Land. I would love a real, full sequel to Nintendo Land, with fulfilling games based around Nintendo IP played with Mii's wearing Nintendo costumes — and with DLC support to add new franchises over time as new games are released... Games based on Fire Emblem, Splatoon, etc! On the other hand, games like Mario Party and Wii Party or Wii Play, I'd be happy to be filler later own but not treat like key anticipated titles... And separately, titles like Fortune Street or Amiibo Party, would also be ones I would be happy to see later on but not treat as key launch titles...
@AlienX Check out this link:http://nintendo.wikia.com/wiki/Wii_U_Virtual_Console It does state that all NES games have a pixel filtering filter. The cause is indeed to reduce instances of flashing. More blatant flashing they also remove on a per-game basis.
The Wii U VC ads a filter which has the job of catching and preventing flashes. In the older days, a lot of games included flashes as a special effect, and they have been shown to be capable of causing epileptic seizures.
Definitely a strange list, missing many games I would have considered more strongly for a top 3 list for myself (picked Shovel Knight, Affordable Space Adventures, and SteamWorld Dig, but these games would have made it a harder choice): Art Academy: Home Studio The Swapper Human Resource Machine Toki Tori 2 CastleStorm Child of Light Sword & Soldiers 2 Art of Balance The Fall Stealth Inc 2: A Game of Clones Thomas Was Alone Pushmo World Chariot Trine 2 Nihilumbra
If all of these were indeed added to the choices, my Top 3 would have changed to Affordable Space Adventures, Toki Tori 2, and Human Resource Machine.
Seeing the same news on other sites, it appears obvious that the context of Kimishima's claim that profits ceiling in 3 years is above Wii/DS days — he does appear to be talking about the NX at the time. Not Mobile. Do remember, for Mobile, Nintendo has so far only announced plans up till March 2017.
Why all the hyperbole recently about stuff like Smash Tourneys being awful just because 1vs1 is not an option, or the Miiverse upgrade because of no more than 30 comments?
I thought that was a very well thought out article/editorial.
Regarding Affordable Space Adventures name and it somehow being seen as controversial for the game's price... I bought the game for $20, and I loved it. It's also infinitely replayable with different friends. Well worth the price point for the polish and richness of the game. That said, people are complaining that it's name belies it's price?
Has anyone mentioned that the name reflects directly on the game's presentation, plot, and scenario within the game? Loading screens are full of 'how to fly' manuals that came with the ship. The game starts with an advertisement for a company providing cheap, affordable ships designed for providing space tours of exploration and 'adventure'. The flyers in the loading screen all show off the 'cheap' nature of the company and its product. So does ended up stranded in an unknown location with a broken SOS signal nearby. The ship itself, barely chugging along at times, with old car ignition sounds and smoke coming out of it, fits the 'affordable' description to a tee!
@cusman I said the price point was fine for the game. Most people are comparing it with the price for the original, which was $10 on WiiWare and the HD version of which was released on Wii U eShop for $3. So, the developers task is to show that the new game is worth $20. I myself plan to get it as I really enjoyed the original and also bought and played through the Wii U HD version again as well.
Nothing wrong with the price point, as long as the game is great and the customer is not waylaid with sales and price drops 2 months later that make it feel like they should have waited. The devs for Affordable Space Adventures did it right: they stated the period of time they won't have any sales/drops, letting customers decide if they want to wait of buy now.
For now, I still plan to get it, as I really enjoyed the first one on WiiWare. I do have to compare with Castlestorm in price point, but then again I got both DLC's for Castlestorm which ends up bringing it up in cost too. So here is hoping Swords & Soldiers 2 does content and enjoyment to match its price point, and if so, all will be well.
That's actually quite a good list of upcoming titles, and adds to the titles that started coming out in May to make the Wii U library quite impressive from an Indie perspective
The point of this Halloween Weekend StreetPass, is that the hotspots will give you random passes from across the country, instead of just the last 6 people that passed that same hotspot.
The way the reviewer mentions the option 'early on' to tell the truth or lie, really makes me think the reviewer didn't finish the game. The reviewer claims this part 'early on' is really clever, but the way he wrote it indicates that he doesn't know that the option to tell the truth or lie is at the heart of the major plot point of the game!
The Fall is pretty awesome — old school adventure mixed in with some action gameplay, creepy atmosphere, and intriguing setting. The AI voice acting is great and surprisingly full of character, and the caretaker drone is a psycho (I am sure of it).
Metroid Fusion is the last game chronologically. Zero suit is part of gameplay history including Zero Mission and Brawl. The new alt clothing are directly inspired from the endings of both Fusion and Zero Mission. Finally, most of my memories from Other M are of Samus wearing the military casual clothing, as shown on the Other M box art.
Which btw, should definitely also me an alt costume in the new Smash Bros!
I am fine with the delay if the end result is good... but the price point of the eventual release needs to make sense with the price point of the other versions at that point in time... no releasing if for $60 while other versions are available for $30 by that point...
Ghost Recon is awesome, wish there was a nice way to trade-in physical copies for digital downloads at a discount... Did download The Cave and Balloon Fight. Poll should allow for picking multiple options!

Definitely a strange list, missing many games I would have considered more strongly for a top 3 list for myself (picked Shovel Knight, Affordable Space Adventures, and SteamWorld Dig, but these games would have made it a harder choice):
Art Academy: Home Studio
The Swapper
Human Resource Machine
Toki Tori 2
CastleStorm
Child of Light
Sword & Soldiers 2
Art of Balance
The Fall
Stealth Inc 2: A Game of Clones
Thomas Was Alone
Pushmo World
Chariot
Trine 2
Nihilumbra
