Re: Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Is Currently in Development

Being a sequel to my favorite game of all time, it has a lot to live up to. Makes me wonder if X was just an experiment to get ideas for gameplay in Xenoblade 2.
If this game is half as good as the original, I'll love it to death. I was on the fence about getting a Switch, but now I'm sold.
I am somewhat surprised that they're making a direct sequel, since the first game tied up the story pretty well. I can't wait to see how the story unfolds.

Re: Review: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Wii U eShop / N64)

In my opinion this is the second worst 3d Zelda. It's still a great game, like all 3d Zeldas, but it's plagued by many terrible design choices, such as Navi, the Water Temple, ect. Personally, I think this version is obsolete now that the 3d version exists.

At least in this game I can go to the next dungeon without doing an hour or more worth of filler, unlike the abomination that was Twilight Princess.

We have to wait till the 17th for Star Knight? Ech, I was hoping I'd be able to get it tomorrow. Oh well. In my opinion, Star Knight ruins a lot of the fun of making your own armor sets because it's so insanely powerful.

At least we get the G rank metal Raths and G rank Dalamadur. Now all we need is GX Crimson and GX Tempest.

EDIT: Apparently G rank Dalamadur isn't in this pack, what a shame.

Getting past the first boss takes some patience, but if you can get past it then all the other bosses are easy, they're all the same.

Also, there's this one planet that's really linear but is a huge difficulty spike. I'm still stuck there for a matter of fact.

It's a decent game, but definitely get it on sale.

Re: Guide: Everything We Know So Far About Nintendo's Deal With DeNA, Smart Device Plans and More

I'm a bit worried about this. From my experience, the average mobile consumer is a cheapskate. They don't want to get anything with a price next to it on the Apple Store, but are pulled in by microtransactions that promise to enhance mediocre gameplay(but doesn't). If Ninty doesn't adapt to that model, they won't have much success outside of already present Nintendo fans. It seems like they're trying to pull in a new audience here, but it may not be easy without shifting their outlook. They want things like Pokemon Shuffle. However, there are still ways they could do things, such as offering demos of games debuting on other consoles, or having an app that has videos of upcoming games on it. Maybe a NES remix game, except it's free and offers VERY limited parts of NES games, but then you have the ability to buy them in full.

There are definitely ways to do this right, but I'm worried that they'll keep on the same as they always have.

Re: TEMBO THE BADASS ELEPHANT, The Game Freak and Sega Collaboration, is Sadly Skipping Wii U

potatomage7

This isn't really a game I think I'd like, but still it's a bit worrying. Pokemon is a huge thing to me, and it always has been. I don't want to have to buy another console if by a slim chance this means Game Freak is moving away from Nintendo. Honestly, none of the other consoles on the market appeal to me. I might miss out on an exclusive or two, but I can get 95% of what's on the PS4/Xbone on Steam.

This probably doesn't mean anything but the reveal of a seemingly mediocre platformer, but if it does, I'll be very sad.

@R_Champ No problem, I hope you're not disappointed.

By the way, the game is practically built around customization. It has a really cool system that's kind of like the Espers in FF6, but they change your stats and sometimes your class, so everything is incredibly flexible and customizable. You only have 4 party members, but you can change them into practically anything you want. That's what really sells the game for me.

Re: Apex 2015 Ends With The Conclusion Of A Bitter Rivalry And A Failed Chance at Redemption

The only good thing that came out of this is that I'm very tempted to get into competitive Smash so I can try to kick Leffen where it hurts. It wouldn't be near as bad if he was just an anti-hero, but he isn't. He's just a straight up jerk. I was practically praying for Mango to win. Leffen needs to be taught a lesson, especially since there's probably going to be a lot of other people emulating him and making the competitive Smash community a terrible place.

@R_Champ Golden Sun is great, it's in my personal top 5 RPG's of all time. Of course, I can't guarantee that you'll like it, but I personally loved it. Really cool battle mechanics and nice graphics for a GBA game.

I wish I could get W101, but I don't have enough space on my Wii U or enough money to get an external hard drive.

Re: Video: You NEED To Play Metroid Prime Trilogy

potatomage7

Oh boy. I really want this. I really do. But I don't have an external hard drive and a limited 25gb to store games. To add to this, I don't have a Wiimote and nunchuck. Is this worth some of the limited space I have? I don't want to get something that i don't like, and will take up that much space. Is it worth the 8/25 of the space and $40 for the controller?

Re: Nintendo Download: 29th January (North America)

potatomage7

I'm just hoping they'll eventually put Golden Sun: The Lost Age on the eShop... If they don't soon, I'll have to resort to emulation.

I'll have to see if I have enough space, if I do I might get MK8. I need to get an external hard drive soon.

Re: Preview: Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate Takes the Series to New Heights

potatomage7

@JaxonH Ah, I see.

The demo isn't really a very good measure of the game. I wish there was a bit better way for me to get acquainted with the gameplay. Maybe I'll try to borrow a friend's copy if they ever get one. Sorry for sounding like a noob, I probably should have tried the game a bit more before I made that comment.

Re: Preview: Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate Takes the Series to New Heights

potatomage7

Ok, I've never tried a Monster Hunter game before. However, the 4 demo did not impress me. The first thing I noticed was the frequent loading screens. It's very annoying to have to load an area so often. However, the main problem I have with it is the fact that there's no indication that you're doing damage besides the blood effect, and if there's a way to tell, I haven't figured it out. I'm just pressing buttons but I can't tell how much damage I'm doing. It makes it feel like I'm not doing anything to it, when I probably am. It'd also be nice to have an option to have a camera that follows you, using the touchscreen or d-pad is very awkward. This problem will probably be fixed with the New 3ds though.

Most of these problems are with the series itself, so maybe it's not for me. I love hunting monsters in other games for sidequests and things, and I love grinding for equipment, so I thought I would love this, but I'm not really feeling the demo.
