Re: EB Games Australia Opens Up Nintendo NX Pre-Orders At $999

pazuzu

@JaxonH
All caps to me means yelling. I thought they were going for those loud annoying people who frequent game stores and brag about all the money they have, because I've met a lot of those types.

Anyway, I won't preorder the console, but I am starting to set some extra money aside. Gotta save extra for a couple games to get day one too.

Re: Launching NX Next Year Is The "Proper" Thing To Do, Says Nintendo Boss Tatsumi Kimishima

pazuzu

There's really no winning is there? When nintendo releases a new console, people complain that there aren't enough first party games launching simultaneously. But if they delay the launch so there are plenty of first party games releasing people complain.
I'm super excited for the future of Nintendo. I've got mobile games and apps to look forward to. The NX is exciting even if I don't know anything about it. There's still 3ds games coming out I want and plenty of old games on my list to get. Plenty of wiiu games I'm still playing.
I'm excited and looking forward to what Nintendo is bringing out. I'm going to stay optimistic and upbeat.

Re: Parent Trap: Welcoming A Yo-Kai Into The Family

pazuzu

I got the game when it first came out in the U.S. I hadn't heard about it before but it looked interesting and I really like Level 5 so I figured I'd take a chance and its been so much fun. It's a lot of fun exploring the town and working on all the side quests and the battle system is neat. Definitely feels different than just a pokemon knockoff.
I just started watching the show on Netflix and got my husband and sister into it too, so the show has plenty of weird humor to keep adults interested. And Ive been playing Yokai Watch Wibble Wobble on my tablet. I like that you can enjoy the game or show or app on their own, but I think it adds to the experience when you're more involved. I think if enough people give it a try and recommend it to friends, it could easily be a new phenomenon.

Re: Fire Emblem Mobile Game Will Offer "Accessible" Yet "Engaging" Gameplay

pazuzu

@KoopaTheGamer
I think it's a great idea to make these kinds of games more accessible, and I never understood why fans would be upset that something they like can now reach a wider fanbase. I haven't played many rpgs, they can seem a bit daunting to the uninitiated, so a mobile app could be a great way to expose people like me to the concept and get a good feel for it. And then go out and buy the retail games.

The point of these mobile games is to attract new people to established franchises. I doubt Nintendo will replace beloved series with strictly mobile games. It creates brand awareness; someone downloads a LoZ app and really enjoys it, then they go out and buy the games.
The more people Nintendo can get to play their games, in any format, the more they increase their revenue, which means they won't go out of business.

Re: Rumour: More Claims Made For New Legend of Zelda on Wii U and NX, Gender Choice For Playable Character

pazuzu

@CrazyMetroid
It's not necessarily gender politics. People always assume that when the status quo is changed its because developers are kow-towing to some agenda. Maybe nintendo decided for themselves that they want to integrate a female main character for their series. Maybe they think they can reach a wider audience and make more money.
It's also might not be "a female link", they could introduce a new female hero of time, maybe Linkle, maybe someone new. Link would be the male option, and the female option is someone else. So its not just a gender swap, it's a choice between two different characters that allows you to play as you're preferred gender.
I personally don't see a problem having two different options as your hero of time. I don't know if I'd pick the other option because I'm partial to Link, but having that option doesn't really change the way I would enjoy the game.

Re: Nintendo's Updates Its Guidance on Super Mario Maker Level Deletions

pazuzu

I'm not a fan of levels that require you to use a glitch or exploit to beat, but obviously a lot of people enjoy figuring those levels out and like them, so I don't think they should be deleted. Unless they somehow create issues and corrupt data I don't see the harm in allowing people to play the way they want.

Removing bad words I can understand, but I still think it's a bit silly. It's not the end of the world if a kid sees a bad word, they're most likely hearing it at school or using it themselves outside of home. And what exactly will they consider a bad word? Different countries and cultures consider different words bad. They apparently deleted courses with "poo" in the title, and I don't know anyone who considers poo a bad word.

Re: Rumour: More Claims Made For New Legend of Zelda on Wii U and NX, Gender Choice For Playable Character

pazuzu

@Smokingspoon
Haha doesn't everyone consider grunting to be romantic? I like how they just sort shout one word and the rest is text bubble, maybe they could add a couple words and it wouldn't be too bad, but I don't know how I feel about whole conversations being voiced.
Linkle didn't seem sexualized so maybe they'd use her as a model. But who knows, maybe she finds the master heels and her Zora suit is a skimpy bikini.

Re: Rumour: More Claims Made For New Legend of Zelda on Wii U and NX, Gender Choice For Playable Character

pazuzu

Voice acting can really kill a game for me, so hopefully if they go that route it would be well done. I like the weird grunts and random sounds the characters make in zelda, but I'm open to voice acting. Gender option is cool, Ive always wondered why games dont offer more customization. I don't know if I'll play as a female though, I really love Link, but the option is cool.
I'm always open to any direction a developer is trying to go in their new games, might as well try out something new. They obviously know games so if they think its a good idea then I'm excited to try it.

Re: Miitomo Update to Expand Friend Options and Features

pazuzu

I'm interested in this, but there's only 4 people out of my friends who would get it and have a smart phone, so it might get boring quick. It'd be cool if there was a more shallow interaction with random people you meet, with the option to become friends after so many interactions, rather than the having to pick the same suit of cards thing mentioned. It could be like a more in depth street pass and a cool way to meet new people.

Re: More Official Pokémon Go Gameplay Details Emerge

pazuzu

Will you miss out if you don't do any real life travel? I can't really go anywhere so it would suck to miss out because I can't travel to national monuments or art instalations. I'm still excited to see the end product but I just wonder if it'll be a fit for my lifestyle.

Re: Review: Pokémon Ranger (Wii U eShop / DS)

pazuzu

I really liked the ranger games when they came out. They were a fun way to expand the pokemon universe and I loved that I got to interact with pokemon in a different way. Itd be cool if they made some more.

Re: Weirdness: Drew Barrymore Is Now Pokémon's Fashion Ambassador

pazuzu

If it's affordable I will definitely rock some pokemon fashion. I like the idea of clothes that are more an homage to the games than just a tee shirt with pikachu on it, which I think would be the direction Barrymore would take it. And it if it gives us a chance to maybe wear some clothes from the game that'd be awesome.

Re: Pokémon Sun And Moon Confirmed For 3DS Release This Holiday Season

pazuzu

@charlieonholiday
I don't understand why people get upset when information is leaked ahead of time, it's not nintendo's or gamefreak's fault. "Well with the leak yesterday this didn't give us any new info." Well duh, it was supposed to be new info but of course people mine the info and leak it. To be upset that this was underwhelming because you got the information ahead of time seems silly to me.

Re: Pokémon Sun And Moon Confirmed For 3DS Release This Holiday Season

pazuzu

I liked the video, it tapped into nostalgia and reminded me of my child hood and why I love pokemon. I hadn't heard the leak, so the reveal was exciting for me.
You don't want to give away too much info right off the bat because people will lose interest, you need a steady stream of info. More art and game play will be out soon enough. However, pokemon s&m brings to mind other things... All in all, I enjoyed the video.

Re: Preview: Hyrule Warriors Legends Takes The Battle On The Road

pazuzu

I own the WiiU version already, but I'm excited for the 3ds release. My 3ds gets ways more play time than my wiiu now. I think this is a better fit for portable, for me anyway. Can't wait to play as Tetra. The switching characters sounds great, I spent way too much time having to run to different keeps on opposite sides of the map, so I think this will make it more enjoyable.

Re: Super Mario Bros. Z Creator Launches New Patreon Page After Nintendo Takedown

pazuzu

Copyright is tricky. Sometimes fans make awesome things with copyrighted material that can fill a void that the company isn't doing. I mean, there's a lot of awesome stuff on etsy using nintendo's characters. It could be mutually beneficial, nintendo might not have the time or resources to make Splatoon clothes, or Zelda crochet figures, but someone on etsy does. They make money, and more nintendo merchandise is out there. Maybe i'll wear a cool splatoon shirt out and someone asks me about it, I'll tell them it's for this really cool game, it's advertising. It helps build up the fervor for nintendos games too. I can get more invested in a franchise when I know I can buy all sorts of merchandise associated with it.
But I get where the companies are coming from. Someone is profiting off their intellectual property and your characters are now out there in a way you didn't set out to create. What if someone uses a character in a way nintendo didn't support? Basically the characters could engage in activities nintendo doesn't condone, or make a political statement nintendo doesn't back. It doesn't just come down to profit, nintendo owns their characters and determines how theyre used and seen by consumers. If I gave out free shirts with mario supporting a presidential candidate, nintendo could issue cease and desist even though I'm not making money.
So all in all, it's tricky.

Re: Research Highlights That Older Gamers Drift Away From Competitive Gaming But Still Enjoy Strategy

pazuzu

@Einherjar
Pretty much the main reason I stay away from that. I love games, but I'm just not that great- I seem to plateau and can't improve past a certain level, so I don't want my team mates yelling at me that I screwed something up or opponents just harassing me. People say you need to grow a thick skin and not be a baby, which yeah that's good advice, but I also think maybe people shouldn't be such big jerks.

Re: Research Highlights That Older Gamers Drift Away From Competitive Gaming But Still Enjoy Strategy

pazuzu

I guess a lot of people grow out of gaming as responsibilities take over. But the older generation is who started it all. I grew up with the NES and SNES because my mom wanted it to use herself, and we got each subsequent nintendo console and a couple playstation. I'm in my twenties but I guess I reflect the older gamers, unless we're assuming twenties is over the hill. Splatoon is as competitive as I get and I'm not super into online co-op. I really dont see my mom playing any type of online multiplayer, but I'd say that's more her personality, and mine, than age.

Re: 3DS to Continue as a 'Major Pillar' of Nintendo's Business

pazuzu

There are so many older games that I'm still playing or replay often. And so many more games I still need to get. I'm definitely not bored with it and don't see that happening anytime soon. I guess if you only like specific franchises or types of games it might be slim pickings, but for me, I have a long backlog of games. I still get a lot of street passes when I'm out and about. I prefer the 3ds over the WiiU, a lot of nintendo games seem better portable. I'm still playing wiiu routinely but not as frequently as the ds, mostly splatoon and group games when friends come over. I hope the 3ds has a couple years left because I'm certainly not done with it. But if they quit releasing new games at least I know I've got a lot of old ones to start.

Re: Animal Crossing amiibo Cards Series 3 Lands in Europe on 18th March

pazuzu

@Starz
Yup. Series one was better for me, I didn't get too many repeats. But with series two I've only bought four packs and ended up with two whole packs of repeats. Luckily my friends play so I can give them my repeats. I might just stick with the figurines from now on.
I did find an etsy shop that takes the chip from the cards and will build a figurine for you using polymer clay. I think they charge about 20 USD. Kind of steep but they looked well made.

Re: Here's Exactly What Has Changed With Fire Emblem Fates' "Skinship" Petting Mode

pazuzu

I dont think that was changed because it would offend anyone, I think it was changed because outside of Japan people will think this is weird. I mean, I'm not creeped out by it, its more just comical than anything else. However, I think it would be better if the overly sexual tones were taken out. I used pokemon amie, its fun to see how they react, I love that volbeat shakes his butt, it shows their personality. "Petting" or whatever could be a cool way to interact with characters and learn personality, but with a human it maybe shouldn't be so sexual. Maybe some other type of interaction. Anyway, in the US most people would just think this is weird.

Re: Rumour: New Splatoon Mini-Game Arriving Soon with Fresh amiibo Figures in Tow

pazuzu

@abe_hikura
With amiibo doing as well as it has, im hopeful that more franchises will get their own. I really hope we get more zelda, maybe with hyrule warriors legends coming out. I really want a tetra amiibo, and a stand alone midna.

I'm still working on my amiibo challenges, finished all but end boss for inkling boy, and haven't started any others.

Re: Parent Trap: Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival Goes Where Other Wii U Games Don't

pazuzu

I had reservations about the game when we got it, I didn't know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised. It's not very involved but it is fun. The stalk market is what keeps it interesting during the board game part. I don't have any kids, just play with my husband and our friends and we all enjoy it. It's a fun game to relax with and trash talk each other.

Re: More North American Women Own A Games Console Than Men

pazuzu

@Airola
I have a feeling a lot of the guys who get super upset over girls gaming are the ones who have been rejected by women. So they assume they can't get a girlfriend because women just don't understand. It's not that they're asking non gamers, or, gasp, are maybe a douche. It's the women. Which is so weird because I know so many women gamers, like it's not hard to find a woman who enjoys gaming.

But this is also the same community where most female characters are ridiculously scantily clad, and if you cosplay as said character you get harassed and called a slut. If the devs or console company change the outfit, they cry censorship and demand it stay the same. But you're still a slut if you cosplay in an outfit they demanded stay.
The uproar about this poll is really about ethics in gaming polling right? Not to harsh on women who enjoy gaming,right?

Re: More North American Women Own A Games Console Than Men

pazuzu

@supergardie
Yup, I hoard all my systems but my husband trades his in for the newest model. He also sells his older games a lot and I like to replay multiple times. Granted he's more fps and my gaming is more varied so his games don't necessarily lend themselves to replays.
I think the more interesting study would be the gaming habits between genders to see if there are any trends. Since its obvious women play games too.

Re: More North American Women Own A Games Console Than Men

pazuzu

@pika677
My husband will only buy xbox, I on the other hand will purchase and use multiple consoles. I actually know quite a few women who use more than just nintendo. I also know plenty of men who exclusively use nintendo. I know guys who love the super "girly" games and women who love "bro" games. That's not to say you can't find a gendered bias when it comes to favored game consoles. I just wish everyone would stop making it a thing and realize people like all sorts of different things and just focus on making good games instead of going for some type of fan service.

Re: More North American Women Own A Games Console Than Men

pazuzu

It's strange to me to think of people just not playing games period. Gaming has always been a part of my life. My family owned the NES and SNES because my mom. My dad doesn't play games other than mario kart and only with us kids. I had all the nintendo consoles growing up. We got the Playstation and my brother and I played. My female friends all played video games growing up. Granted I think some quit as we hit high school as gaming was nerdy and for boys. As an adult all my female friends play games, because I have friends with similar tastes. We became friends because we game. Three of my female friends are so into gaming that they have various tattoos from games. I own more consoles and games than my husband, consoles and games I bought for myself. I'm sure more men than women own and use consoles, but women definitely have their own consoles, and not just because their husband or boyfriend has one. I think women aren't as vocal about gaming so sometimes it seems like no women game, but we definitely do!

Re: Video: The Pokémon Company Shows Off the Current Zoroark Distribution

pazuzu

@Crimzonlogic
Ha, I never put two and two together. I bought the dragonite pack a while after the distribution so it never occurred to me that they were timed together. Now I know to be on the lookout.

I haven't played sapphire in a while, just when I forget about it, they do some distribution so I have to start up again.

Re: Video: Just Who Exactly is Miitomo Designed for?

pazuzu

@manu0
I'm pretty sure the app will be available world wide, you'd probably get it from the android market or apple store. From what I read it basically sounds like street pass on ds. Anyone with that software can meet each other, I think this one is supposed to be more interactive and reach a broader base since almost everyone has a smart phone.

Re: Video: Just Who Exactly is Miitomo Designed for?

pazuzu

@manu0
I kind of remember an article saying once you've met someone you have the option to add them as a friend and then you can talk/hang out with them. But you both have to add each other as friends. I don't know if its like a Facebook thing where it sends a friend request to be accepted or declined.

@Tindre
Haha yeah, unique seems like a back-handed compliment. "Well, I've certainly never seen that before..." Over at gamefaqs.com there's a thread for sharing your work, you could post some stuff there.

My game prompted me when I first started so I've had the HNN from the get-go. Using it has helped me get ideas and it's really fun to see what others create. It also allows you to get custom designs from houses if the owner is willing to share, just talk to Lottie while you're visiting.
