It's certainly normal for smart device apps to be updated frequently, and Miitomo is no different. It's already up to version 1.0.2 in Japan as Nintendo and DeNA have fixed some early issues in the app.
What does seem to be on the way is a more detailed update to add new features, providing early delivery on the promise that the social app will continue to evolve following its launch. Well-known gamer and resident in Japan 'Cheesemeister' has been posting fairly regularly about Miitomo, and has shared an image showing that a new update will add additional friend options along with more ways to view and share "answers".
We trust that - assuming there are no logistical issues - the Western version of the app will be fully up to date when it launches; whether this update will beat the global roll-out to the punch is unclear.
In any case, we're intrigued to see how Miitomo can make an event out of answering questions.
Thanks to all that sent this in.

Glad to see they're making adding friends easier but seriously Nintendo let us add anyone even if we have to type in a long friend code!
...........I would update....IF THE FREAKIN' GAME WAS RELEASED OVER HERE ALREADY!
Anyone else worried that there's a problem with My Nintendo?
I mean we know the western delay its not an problem with Miitomo as the Japanese release supports multiple languages. So it has to be a problem with My Nintendo
@DoctorOverbuild the easier it is to add people the more Nintendo will feel the need to (as people say) "mother" people like they do on Miiverse.
personally i'm currently liking the fact that currently only friends (in person, facebook, or mutual twitter followers) can interact means Nintendo has no interest in moderating our interactions.
@abe_hikura Not really. We were told from the start that everything would be released later here than in Japan. It feels more like they're testing it to make sure it's up to speed before releasing it to the other territories.
I fear a huge increase in cat-trolling photos with Miitomo. Bring it on!
Just. Release it already?
Japan is just beta testing the game for the rest of the world. It's probably much easier for them to focus on fixing things just for Japan than it is for them to fix things for the whole world. I know there are still some people having trouble with Twitter integration, anything you type goes FULL CAPSLOCK MODE if you have autocaps turned on for your keyboard on Android, and I occasionally see some graphical issues on my Nexus 5X. I've also seen a couple posts on /r/Miitomo with people who can't even get the app to run on their phones. That said it doesn't seem to be widespread issues, just stuff that I'd expect from something that's not quite ready. I'd say this is about 90%+ ready and after the last little bits of compatibility and stabilization it'll release everywhere else.
Yeah, yeah, that's great and all, but until they confirm whether or not there's ACTUALLY going to be a western release, I really don't care.
@abe_hikura True, but what if your real life friends are not interested in downloading the app? Most of my friends are married and have children. I can't see them being very interested in Miitomo; therefore the experience will be really small and shallow for me.
well Nintendo....
announced a release date already please!
Nintendo already announced a release date: By the end of March. It's only a week before the deadline. Oh wait, I'm getting flashbacks to a certain Virtual Console game that was due by the end of 2013...
@grumblebuzzz Just who are you wanting to play with if your physical and digital (via Facebook, Twitter and Google+) friends don't want in? my point is simple as it stands Nintendo KNOWS you're only dealing with people you 'know' so its happy to leave you unattended. It sounds like you want to interact with randoms, in that case Nintendo would clamp down on swearing and will moderate player responses just like Miiverse.
Its probably also worth mentioning that My Nintendo will handle friends lists later so no doubt your NX (and Wii u/3DS if supported) friends will be added too
Lets not forget there is also a simple work around, Join an FB/Google+/ Twitter group and add people from there. Hell I'm pretty sure dedicated pages will appear soon enough
Hurry up,Nintendo! I wanna check this out
I'm interested in this, but there's only 4 people out of my friends who would get it and have a smart phone, so it might get boring quick. It'd be cool if there was a more shallow interaction with random people you meet, with the option to become friends after so many interactions, rather than the having to pick the same suit of cards thing mentioned. It could be like a more in depth street pass and a cool way to meet new people.
