Sometimes Nintendo's weirdness can brighten any sky and make the sun shine that bit brighter. OK, we're exaggerating a little, but it can make us smile - the concept of The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes fits into this. Any plot that puts fashion at its core in Hyrule is always going to be a bit bonkers, and its randomness even prompted us to turn an E3 demo event into a daft short story.
It's a game prioritising fun above all else, then, but the latest video on Nintendo's Japanese channel to promote the game and explain its concept is delightfully quirky. The wackiness is at the start, in which the extravagant King weeps bitter tears and tells a tale in the most melodramatic style imaginable. Check it out below.
The voiceover rather reminds us of Brian Blessed, the hugely respected British actor who is also known for his humour and readily identifiable voice. He actually gave a characteristically enthusiastic voice-over for a Nintendo UK ad campaign not too long ago, for Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D.
In any case this writer now wants Tri Force Heroes more than ever before.

That was weird
That princess looks nothing like Zelda I've seen before
Admittedly, this does look really fun, but it's super corny. Ah well, day one buy for me!
Well I enjoyed the new footage
I only watched it without the sound, but it looked great, especially the at the start
I'm really looking forward to this!
@KirbyKirbyKirby maybe because its not zelda
Great multiplayer game. Zelda Four Swords on GameCube with four players was so great.
It's like this weird world, with a princess that may or may not be Zelda, where a strange generation of the King is directing 3 hero's who might not even be Link. It's like a Zelda game that might not even be a Zelda game! All this ambiguity, it's such a weird way to deviate from traditional Zelda, but I kinda like it.
Looks cool, I would love to play as a Samurai more often
This looks like a lot of fun.
Still on the fence about this. I'm not sure if single player would be as fun since it's designed for co-op, and I'm not a big fan of co-op games. I do really enjoy Zelda games though and this one looks fun, I just think single player might not be too great. It looks tedious to switch back and forth constantly and it'd be difficult when speed is required.
Ooh! I'm gonna get it! 😆 hype!
Looks fun! I think this is the first time we took a look at how the single player experience work. Might not be a day one for me, but a sure buy eventually.
The more i see of this game the more i think its a stop gap by nintendo till the next 3ds zelda
They need a triple pack especial edition package because I'll have to buy the game three times to play it with family. (Wife and kid).
It's definitely...a unique Zelda experience (with the story, and overall theme of the game), but hey, it looks to be a fun game, gameplay-wise, and I'm definitely getting this day one (Treehouse at E3 was convincing enough for me). I do worry about the release of Zelda U (I mean, they could at least show us some footage).
I like that Nintendo is trying new things with their established franchises. I think these kind of games compliment the main games really well and money wise it makes a lot of sense.
@EverythingAmiibo this does look super cheesy.
Ah, nice footage! It seems the game has 32 dungeons. The dungeons are pretty small, so the amount of dungeons makes up for that. I also like that box-art (the one shown in the trailer, better then the one shown top-right on this page). That intro was very weird though, and very unlike Zelda!
