Re: Ubisoft's Live Action Commercials For Mario + Rabbids Are Rather Weird

pazuzu

@mateq
I think when people complain about terrorism and things like that in entertainment they get upset because the entertainment is no longer escapism. Like I was at a book store and saw a teen book about a school shooting, and I thought why would I want to read this? I don't want to read a fictional story about a scary event that could potentially happen to me. But I totally get that someone else might want to, it can allow you to experience it but still have power over it I guess. I think a lot of people want entertainment to be fun and light hearted to distract from the crap that happens.

Re: The First Pokémon Sun and Moon 'Global Mission' Was a Bit of a Flop

pazuzu

I had made a trainer account and signed up for all that online stuff for an earlier pokemon game, but couldn't remember my password or my ID. You can't retrieve your ID unless you sign in and you can't change your password unless you know your ID. Everytime I went online in Pokemon it said game sync failed, but I could still participate in the global mission and online missions. I only caught 28 pokemon for the mission.

Re: Preview: Singing and Dancing in Disney Magical World 2

pazuzu

@Ryu_Niiyama
I don't think you'd need to play the first one to like the sequel, but it might give you a better appreciation for it. From what I've seen the worlds have changed a little bit with their layout and the graphics improved, and there's some new ones and new things you can do in this one. So it might be cool to see how it started and how it's improved. But you can just jump in with this.
I definitely recommend both though, the first one was a lot of fun and I'm really excited for the sequel!

Re: Japan Weekly: Famitsu Reveals the Ultra-Kawaii Puyo Puyo Chronicle

pazuzu

That puyo puyo game looks fun. I hope it gets localized, I'd definitely buy it.
Drat, I saw a bit of that exegutor. I've been trying to avoid the new pokemon and the alola forms. Although that's proving harder than I thought. oh well, not a big deal if I see some ahead of time. I'm really excited for sun and moon!

Re: Talking Point: Pokémon GO's Next Major Update Should Target Gen VII Pokémon

pazuzu

I see the benefits of doing it that way, I think it would really amp up hype for the 3ds game- maybe get some people to go out and buy it and a 3ds too if they don't already have one.
However, I personally wouldn't like it because I want to see the new pokemon when I encounter them in the 3ds game. It's already hard enough to avoid pictures of new pokemon- especially since Nintendolife uses the pictures for their articles on the main hub rather just in the articles themselves, I have to scroll by really fast and avoid looking at my screen.
But if I just saw them randomly in pokemon go it would kind of ruin it for me, but I understand that a lot of people don't share that feeling.

Re: Poll: The Nintendo NX - Where Do You Stand on the Future of Nintendo?

pazuzu

So far I'm unimpressed. I already have a wiiu and a 3ds,so I'm set for my home console and portable. So the NX would work for someone who doesn't want to buy two different systems, but I don't mind it. They also said it'd be totally different and new but playstation already did this with the vita.
However, I have faith in nintendo, they haven't let me down yet with a console, so I might get more excited when it's fully revealed.

Re: Poll: Will You Still Be Playing Pokémon GO at the End of 2016?

pazuzu

I'll definitely still be playing since come October it will finally be cool enough to walk around outside. Right now we can pretty much just drive around or sit in the car with the AC on. I'm excited to go for bike rides and walks and look for pokemon. I'm actually going to play more in the winter months.

Re: Feature: What Are Your Thoughts, So Far, on Pokémon GO?

pazuzu

It'd odd about the trespassing, all the stops I've been to have allowed you to use them from the parking lot or sidewalk with no need to actually be on the property. I did feel a bit weird about the stop that was at a funeral home though.
There's also a gym located at a preschool, so I picture having to battle a bunch of children.
So far its been fun and exciting. I hope everyone stays attentive and safe.

Re: Pokémon GO Now Competing With Twitter In Terms Of Daily Active Users

pazuzu

I'm really liking it so far. I haven't really experienced any issues with it other than it being a bit slow at times, but that's how my Internet is all the time. I've even seen quite a few other people at the stops too; and I'm going to places in my town that I normally wouldn't. Its been really great, I hope it has lasting power for everyone interested in it now, I know I'll be playing for a while.

Re: E3 2016: Catch Up With All of the Nintendo Action From Day Two at E3

pazuzu

@LeRaposa
Apparently it was a Japanese direct, so its not a part of E3, they showed 4 new pokemon and I guess that's about it.

The only game I'm not really interested in is monster hunter, I downloaded a demo but I wasn't really into it. But monster hunter stories looks more my speed so maybe we'll get that one over here.
So far I've got nine new games coming out I want and I still have a list of older games I'm interested in, plus the NX- I need to start working overtime.

Re: E3 2016: Zelda: Breath Of The Wild E3 Coins And Shirts Already Being Hawked Online

pazuzu

@ekreig
I personally don't consider this scalping. I do have a problem with someone buying all of an item and selling at an inflated price- like amiibo. But this is something you get by going to an event, yeah the price is steep and ridiculous, but maybe worth it to someone who had no way of going to E3 so this is the only way they'd get it. I only consider it scalping if you actively prevent someone from buying something just so you can sell at profit.

Re: Eiji Aonuma Rules Out The Option to Play as a Female Link in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

pazuzu

We all play games that are fun and enjoyable- maybe you look for action or maybe a deep story, but we play games because they are fun. Game play and mechanics should be, and probably are for everyone, the most important aspect of a game. However, it is really awesome to see representation in a medium that you love. If you love comics but barely see any characters of color in them it can be disheartening, especially living in a society that already makes you feel "other". If a little girl grows up loving video games but hardly ever sees female protagonists it can be saddening, it can reflect the idea that females are lesser or incapable of doing things and being heroes.
Of course video games are make believe (most of them anyway) and are there to entertain and are a product and reflection of the artist, but being more inclusive would be a big step. As gamers or nerds most of us might already feel like outsiders, so shouldn't we strive to be more inclusive and accepting?

Re: Eiji Aonuma Rules Out The Option to Play as a Female Link in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

pazuzu

I would love a game with Zelda or Linkle as the protagonist. Get some cool back stories and watch them develope as characters. Link doesn't have much personality, but enough to make him enjoyable and leaves room for me to imagine him how I want. It would be cool to have that for Zelda too.
One of the reasons I enjoy Hyrule Warriors so much is because I can play as so many female characters, it was awesome to get to play as Midna.
I think female gamers deserve more than just a gender swapped protagonist, that seems like a cheap cop out, we deserve full female characters- with personalities, someone we can watch grow throughout the franchise, someone who can become established. I'd prefer that over a female Link, not because I think Link should always be male, but I think we can have awesome female protagonists.

Re: Poll: Did Nintendo Triumph With The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at E3?

pazuzu

I'm excited for zelda, it looks really interesting and completely different from what I'm used to in a Zelda game. I didn't watch all of the footage though because I love exploring and didn't want a lot of the scenery or areas to be spoiled.
I'm really looking forward to pokemon, I'm excited for all the new features.
There are a lot of nintendo games coming out soon that I'm really excited for.

Re: Video: Marvel at the Madness of Dragon Ball Fusions

pazuzu

I watched a little bit of the show on cartoon network, but this game looks really cool. I would definitely get this, and then go watch the anime. So I figure if someone like me who isn't really a fan is interested, they could reach a large audience.

Re: SurveyMonkey Intelligence Breaks Down the Declining Usage of Miitomo

pazuzu

Understandable that use has dropped, but comparing it to candy crush and clash royale is a bit unfair.
I only check in on miitomo every couple of days, it just didn't offer enough for me since my only friend on there is my husband. There's no mini games other than miitomo drop and I get ripped off on that a lot. I'm sure it'd be a lot more fun if I had more people on there, but as it stands, it's just not the right kind of app for me.

Re: Nintendo Introduces Two New Splatoon-Themed amiibo Dioramas

pazuzu

Ooh those are neat, kelp dome is one of my favorite stages. I really don't have the room for them though, my two shelves are running out of space. I'm super excited for the squid sisters amiibos though! And since I didn't get the three pack I can pick up the color variant inklings.

Re: Random: Japanese Gamers Decide Which Starter Pokémon Is The Most "Seriously Useless"

pazuzu

I guess it's because I don't play competitively but I've liked all the starters. I'd pick whichever one I thought looked the best and trade with my brother later in game to get the other starters, or just have more playthroughs. I mean there's definitely ones I like more than others, but I wouldn't consider any to be useless; but then again I don't pay attention to stats or anything, I just play through the story.

Re: Soapbox: How The Evolution Of Pokémon Can Unexpectedly Influence Play-Through Experiences

pazuzu

I've never been into the competitive scene, I try to catch all the pokemon but focus on the ones I think look cool. I think I still play the new games with the same mindset that I had as a kid.
I dont really do breeding, I tried a bit for shinies but it was a time suck so I abandoned it fairly quickly.
My only issue is the trainers are too easy, the gyms and elite four don't offer much challenge. I like having the experience share since I don't think having to grind equals more challenging, but maybe it's too effective at raising your pokemon quickly.
But I've enjoyed all the pokemon games, I like that it lends itself to different play styles. There are different aspects to focus on for whatever you're interested in. I just kind of do my thing, my competitive friends make fun of me, but whatever I'll just keep catching the ones I like.

Re: Nintendo is Getting Into the Movie Business

pazuzu

It could be neat. They have a lot of IPs that would translate well to movie. I'd prefer a movie that expands the universe or lore of a franchise though, not just a straight adaptation.
I remember a lot of rumors about a metroid movie a few years ago, and of course those zelda netflix rumors.

Re: Smartphone Animal Crossing And Fire Emblem Will Both Be Free-To-Play

pazuzu

Eh, I've got plenty of free to start games that I never spent a dime on, you just need some patience.
There's also some that you can spend like 7 to 15 dollars on but it ends up being like an actual game.
It just depends on the game and what your money unlocks, I'm confident that nintendo will handle it well.

Re: Disney Magical World 2 Heads To North America This October

pazuzu

@Pokefanmum82
I read the style savvy article first and was super excited, but everyone in the comments kept mentioning Disney magical world, so I scrolled down to see this article and my goodness this is going to be the best year.
Holy moly I'm so excited, I've got pokemon, DMW2, and Style Savvy to look forward to.

Re: Disney Infinity Has Been Cancelled

pazuzu

@worldstraveller
That's what I was wondering because I've been waiting for information about Disney Magical World 2. Bandai Namco was the developer for the first one though, so I'm assuming Disney licensed it out and didn't develope it directly? But I really have no idea how developing works, so I'm just hoping.

Re: Video: A Snappy Analysis of the Pokémon Sun and Moon Trailers

pazuzu

@Kirk
Ha, I see your point. I viewed those types of commercials as trying to dispel the "gamers are friendless weirdos" stereotype by showing that they can in fact be social and bring people together.
It's interesting to look at different marketing strategies, hooray for economics and anthropology.
