@Bats1234 Since it was already an old game when it launched on switch, I imagine everything was on the cart to make it look as good as it now does on switch 2. The update is merely a patch to optimise it. Some other game which have larger downloads in the gigabytes probably have higher quality assets included to improve visuals to 4K standards.

@AussieMcBucket I’m in the U.K., I’m guessing there may have been a mistake with the pricing here!

@maulinks it’s been a stable of the souls games since the beginning and frankly it hasn’t really bothered me much. From Software ain’t a big studio with massive budgets, especially not back when the series started.

@Styledvinny79 I think we will be waiting a while unfortunately. £60+ being the norm for new big budget digital games sucks as well.

Great news, although it’s still buried deep in my massive backlog. I wonder how it looks on switch 2, couldn’t deal with the resolution on the 1080p screen for most games myself so have gone back to playing on OLED for now.

@spiderman0616 I only came across it about 10 years ago via the happy console gamer youtube channel. Great game indeed, would have been blown away by it when I was a kid. It was good timing since they rebooted the series with the blaster master zero games not too long after.

@Satans_Therapist I do understand though. Hate having to upgrade these things more than once, it’s always satisfying to get your storage stored early on so you don’t have to worry. It crazy how large these memory cards are getting for the money and even though newer speed standards have bumped the price up for newer formats, it still blows my mind as somebody who remembers computer specs from the 90s.

Managed to grab a 512gb for £50 on Vinted a couple of months ago. I’m hopeful that it will do me for a couple of years since I’m only really playing new or upgraded games on my switch 2 and using my OLED to grind the massive backlog of JRPGs that I’ve accumulated.

I’m also a physical first sorta guy apart from indies and eshop bargains but it is becoming more and more difficult this generation.

Far too expensive but would consider giving it a shot if it ever goes on sale half price because it looks like a a fun game.

I wouldn’t even pay £6.29 for the Neo Geo ports and those are games I love. I occasionally grab one whenever there is a rare discount on them.

@Untempered-Link if you have a switch and nintendo online then there are weekly ways to nab points. Check the Nintendo online tab from the switch Home Screen. Also there’s a weekly bonus for logging into the myNintendo store webpage.

Not that I’m a huge fan, but Zelda II is underrated, shouldn’t be all the way down there!

Gonna finally give this series a go, love the Ys games but couldn’t really figure out where to start for the Trails series, especially with some key games missing from the switch library. These remakes of the first trilogy will be perfect for me!

Great news. I picked the switch 1 cart up ages ago on sale for a decent price but it remains sealed on my shelf so a free switch 2 upgrade is exactly the push I needed to play this. I did play a few hours on PS3 years ago but don’t get very far.

@RenanKJ well that’s another thing I won’t be able to not be annoyed by while playing. Thanks I guess, haha.

@Truegamer79 early game is a little slow, it definitely picks up, persevere a bit longer!

Hoping for strong reviews. Really enjoyed the first game on DS many years ago and this looks like it could be great fun as well.

@RenanKJ you really think switch 2 outputs switch 1 games worse quality while docked? I hadn’t really noticed myself… AI upscaling would be something I could get behind.

Excited to eventually play these. Have already dipped my toes into the series; played the first one all the way through on PS2, about half the third one on PS3 and started zero on PS4 but Elden Ring came out and distracted me.

Unfortunately due to the game key cart fiasco, I’ll be waiting for an eshop sale to pick them up. I rarely pay full price for digital games unless it is a day one must play game or the freak occurrence that I’ve cleared my backlog.

I can see the possible switch 2 update being paid since it will probably add mouse control features.

Also thinking this might be the last Pikmin game for a while since shiggy is taking a step back from development.

@Mgalens agreed, we definitely need remakes of VIII & IX. Seems kinda strange that they jumped straight to VII for the most recent remake and also a little sad that IX is trapped on the DS. Maybe these will be next in line, I’m a little excited now.

@Mgalens I am hopeful but Nintendo’s history doesn’t fill me with optimism.

I actually went on eBay and picked up a cheapish OLED because I was so annoyed by the resolution on some games. Others seem to fair much better and I wouldn’t notice if I didn’t already know. I suppose it will be handy to have a secondary switch which is much more portable!

Have to say that this really looks great!

I really enjoyed the last two hyrule warriors games but ended up not finishing either since I burnt out on the game formula.

Will wait for sale then maybe pick it up if my backlog isn’t as daunting as it is now.

@maritroidvaniapoke for the originals, I would say to play them in release order but these remakes were released in this order specifically so that people would play them in chronological order.

I have yet to play I-II HD 2D but I very much doubt there’s much difference in the way of downgrades when it comes to game mechanics, think they added extra characters since the original was just the protagonist solo.

Being a massive Dragon Quest fan, I’ve a lot of problems with this list; but seeing as it’s a user score average, I can’t exactly complain.

Finally grabbed myself one, was half tempted to get a pair but seems greedy considering I mostly play solo.

They really need to fix the resolution so that switch 1 games can make use of the switch 2 screen, it shouldn’t be hard considering a lot of these games run at 1080p docked.

It’s a shame that a lot of games have performance boosts due to switch 2 hardware but look a blurry mess with 720p stretched to its screen.
