Man, I missed Animal Crossing of all things. >.> . Well that and I couldn't recall the name of that particular DKC level. I've played all of these at least.
@Joeynator3000 Actually, in 2nd gen they had lowered stats (due to their stats determining shininess, and the stats that were shiny being low ones). It wasn't until third gen that they got up to normal ones.
@VoidofLight We probably will see it end when the Crypto bubble crashes. It's a completely unregulated market, and like the housing bubble before it is going to wreck the economy when the bottom falls out. But it'll also put an end to mining being in serious demand when that happens.
@XBontendo That's good to hear. I was quite looking forward to that one honestly, but for obvious reasons never got it. It looked so dang fun in the previews.
@rjejr you get my point, I'm tired okay. All I meant was that a delay means that something unexpected happened, not that the game was intrinsically harder to develop.
@rjejr You're telling me a game that took 5 years to develop using reused assets and physics engine, is likely to be delayed? I'm not saying developments gotten easier, but a game like this should be far easier to predict the length of development. The probabilitiy of delays aren't about how difficult a game is to develop, but how likely it is that unseen factors will break the planned timeline.
@Gwynbleidd They aren't patenting falling angles. The patent only covers situations where:
1. The button inputs involved are identical, specifically A for toggling states and R for speeding up. If a different controller labeling scheme is used it's invalid.
2. The falling character is wielding a bow and arrow
3. The archery stance is changed based on the angle between the current direction and a set reference angle
4. The player can speed up falls
5. The player can toggle between horizontal and vertical stances at will.
6. It's from a third person perspective.
If any condition is not met, the patent doesn't cover it.
Edit: also, the point of a super specific patent like this is it prevents anyone else from releasing a more generalized patent of the idea that this would be a specific instance of, making sure they can't be locked out of using it.
@Snatcher The goal was being able to open to menus at once (the same way cloning was done in v1.1). Once they found the fly menu could be glitched, the rest of that was just connecting that to the box menu. Complicated to pull off? Yes. To figure out? Nope.
@Vortexeo My point was that your post stated you could remove ~12 characters that easily (sorry not looking back to find it right now for exact numbers). But realistically, it's more like removing ~4 characters. Ditching Echoes barely counts in reducing roster size.
Nintendo: We are committed to removing bias in our hiring and promotion decisions and making sure only the most qualified candidates are hired and promoted, and expect to see a more women working here and in managerial positions as a result.
@AstroTheGamosian ARMS isn't their last big new IP. LABO comes to mind as a crazy risk (that didn't pay off), they own Astral Chain even if they didn't develop it, and certainly supported it's creation. Ring Fit Adventure also got crazy big as a new IP, and was certainly a risk after Wii Fit U flopped. They published and helped fund both Daemon Ex Machina and Octopath Traveler too.
@Dethmunk Lol, like exploits and glitches weren't being used in Speedruns from the beginning. Glitchless categories exist for a reason. They just rarely get news articles on them.
@GrailUK It doesn't just matter if it's redistributed. For example, say I paint a copy of the Mona Lisa. My friend likes it enough that they ask to buy it from me. I sell it to them.
No forgery occurred, since the buyer knew that they weren't getting the original product, but a reproduction.
After playing Impossible Lair and watching them make a game that actually came close to Tropical Freeze in quality on a tiny budget, I have renewed faith that Yooka-Laylee 2 could finally catch up to the old Banjo-Kazooie titles. The developers have made it clear they are well aware of what people didn't enjoy with the first title, and I expect that feedback to help shape the sequel.
@RupeeClock The Switch occasionally downloads a log of all current game versions to check against. You'd need to have had it in airplane mode since the patch came out. Though... Usually it's set to let you play without the patch .
@Mauzuri People were upset about ORAS not including the Battle Frontier or a replacement, that was the big thing I remember. Which is an issue here too so.
@Rpg-lover ...when did I ever deny any of that? It's totally rockstar fault. All I said is that it's relevant for Nintendo Life to report on the version of the game in Nintendo consoles.
@Rpg-lover The fact that it's the second highest profile Switch game releasing this month (after Pokemon, before SMT V) means it's relevant news to Switch owners.
@IronMan30 I think we'll mostly skip the 'no games' people this year. Whether or not we have exact dates, Nintendo has already announced publishing 8 games in varied genres. Usually we go into the year knowing 2-3.
@DeusX One problem with that... Using a months worth of electricity for each transaction is inherently unsustainable, especially as the amount per transaction will always continue to scale upward, so anything done on blockchain will actually become unusable sometime within the next 10 years.
@the4seer Okay whoops, I misremembered that you were talking about the dislikes and the angry comments, not the boycotts, that was someone else.
And... is that a problem that it has had a target on it's back? Nintendo is blocking both P2P gaming and gaming on servers they don't own or pay for unless you pay them. They literally aren't providing a service, they're just blackmailing the public (the same as Sony and Microsoft). No matter what they offer on the service, it won't change that fact.
That said... this isn't a weekly update, this is their big biannual investor's meeting. I didn't say they could, would, or should update weekly.
@the4seer Well, obviously there are numbers. My point was more you were talking about boycotts and the like being pointless, and the only ones I ever heard were about the expansion pass. I don't see how the data here says anything about people disliking the expansion pass.
@the4seer You do realize that those numbers are for the base version? The expansion pass apparently isn't doing well enough for them to publicly share the numbers, which usually means it's at the very least performing below expectations.
@twztid13 Okay, quality of the policy aside, the people there mentioned were only hired 8-11 months before the game released. How did they have a choice to work on 25%? On top of that, when someone leaves, how are they to know how long the 25% requirement is? Games get delayed all the time.
@johnvboy Maybe. But I can at the very least say (as I did in my first post) I'm aware of multiple people who cancelled their subscription in confusion and I had to explain what was going on so they would get the base level back and I could play with them. I'm just curious how extensive that problem is.
@johnvboy The issue is many people don't listen to the explanation. They hear people complaining about NSO being $50 on social media, and assume that means the whole service.
Most casuals aren't going to watch the video announcement or follow Nintendo's twitter after all. They'll only hear what they see on their feeds.
@johnvboy I dunno, I don't think the messaging is striking well with casuals either. This is totally anecdotal, When I went to play smash with my friends when Sora came out, I found out two had (without talking to each other) cancelled their NSO memberships because they though the whole service was rising to $50 and didn't realize it was optional.
At least the hardcore audience understands it's optional...
What a trolly title. The most influential launch title ever? Perhaps. The best? Certainly not. BotW, Halo, and Super Mario World are all far more consistently quality games.
Edit: before you ask, I played it first in either late '96 or early '97, and 100%ed it at least half a dozen times over the years. I love it, but it's got problems.
@Tharsman No, the last announcement was that they'd be working as a supporting developer for Blizzard and no longer making games of their own (I.e. subcontracting). Now it's a full merger.
Dang, hard choice. 3 Deluxe's inclusion of co-op makes it the best so long as you can use that. 2 is by far the most replayable, while 1 remains a finely tuned challenge even today.
@DomGC That's BS. Sword and Shield DLC was the first main series content I ever skipped in my life (having gotten every 3rd version til then). If SS's base game hadn't been a disaster, there was no way I would've missed out on it. People can change their mind on buying something they usually would...
Hm... I played this back when it first released. A lot of fun, though I don't feel like it totally nailed the ending. Hopefully the extended version might tweak some of the things didn't quite work.
I think I'd disagree with the last part. While Deltarune C1 definitely struggled with forming it's own identity, I feel like C2 was much more successful at breaking out of Undertale's shadow.
