Re: Community: Found A Great Switch Game We Didn't Review? We Want To Know

kenyowa

It's hard to call it a "hidden gem" after being featured at EVO 2022, but you never reviewed Melty Blood Type Lumina. It's the only fighter I really play anymore. Characters feel very light and easy to move, and recent updates have made it more amenable to more hardcore players. Those unfamiliar with its predecessors or the visual novel that it's based off of might find the rather basic character designs to be a detracting point.

Re: Bandai Namco Has Officially Launched Its New Logo

@BloodNinja Bandai most definitely puts out a lot of manga as well as anime, more than enough than to be considered an "on the side business." Their in-house anime studio, Sunrise, makes all the anime for Gundam and PreCure, which are both way bigger in Japan than in the states. Additionally, they publish a lot of the big video game adaptations of Shonen Jump manga - namely Dragonball and Naruto.

Re: Poll: How Can Summer Game Fest And E3 2022 Improve On Previous Years?

kenyowa

They need to pick up their pace. The most grating thing about both of them is how their hosts feel the need to try and inject more personality and conversation in between each game, which ironically has the opposite effect of making me hate every second of it. This ESPECIALLY goes for when the "trailer" is just the dev talking to the camera for four minutes with no gameplay or even a real trailer shown (this should also just be stopped in general because it's annoying). They need to go back to the basics and relearn from Nintendo Directs - at the absolute most, you throw in a couple of words hinting at what's next and a little jingle. At absolute most, you can have someone talk for over 20 seconds maybe every 10-15 games, but only when you're about to drop some news that's likely to matter to EVERYONE.

tl;dr, they need to cut it with trying to talk up each game a lot before they present it. It comes off as insecure and reads as a lack of confidence in what they're presenting.

Re: Nintendo Fears A Popular ROM Website Could Make A Comeback

Nintendo's quaking in their boots thinking about all the old games they wouldn't be able to resell for $60 with a mediocre Switch port. Or all the games they can forcibly push into obscurity, never to be seen again because they're "not profitable." You won't catch me crying with them.

Re: Soapbox: Zelda: Skyward Sword Is Good, Actually

I played this game with a friend where one person would hold the wiimote and the other would hold the nunchuk. Personally I thought the game was fine, though the flying sections drove me nuts sometimes since I was delegated to wiimote.

Re: Trails Of Cold Steel IV Locks In Western Release Dates, Launches This April

kenyowa

Played through all of the Western games + Zero/Ao last year and was enamored by them. I'm excited to see this come to Switch like Cold Steel 3, but I hope NISA is seriously considering porting the Zero/Ao Switch/PS4 ports they're getting in Japan. Not sure if Cold Steel 1+2 still falls under XSEED publishing in the US though, but I'd love those as well.

Re: Shigeru Miyamoto Gives Super Mario Fans A Sneak Peek Of Super Nintendo World

kenyowa

I really don't care much for Mario, so I'm not too interested unless they expand past that. I wouldn't dare to hope for any mention of Fire Emblem in the Japan or Orlando parks, but some Zelda would really go a long way.

@nessisonett I can't imagine them doing anything too creative with the food here outside of the deserts. I'd expect deep fried mushrooms though.

Re: The Original Fire Emblem Is Coming To The West For The First Time Ever On Switch

kenyowa

Me, a wary consumer: There's no reason this shouldn't be on NSO. Not to mention the limited time-only nonsense AGAIN, not that long after receiving a torrent of complaints about a similar practice with the Mario packs. It's a concerning tactic that will either end in mass backlash, or the migration of the practice to more AAA game publishers.

Also me, a Fire Emblem simp: crying as I pull out my wallet

Re: Nintendo Has More Media Projects In The Works Beyond The Mario Movie

kenyowa

A Fire Emblem movie or tv series would be great - though I think the Tellius games would probably pan out a lot better as a source material than the multi-route catharsis-allergic Three Houses. Majora's Mask would make a good Zelda movie, and I'd be down for a Metroid movie as well. I just hope they look at their non-Mario franchises once they're done with the Mario movie.

Re: Game Director Swery Will Rewrite At Least One Scene In Deadly Premonition 2

kenyowa

@RazumikhinPG It is commendable! But unlikely. Call me a cynic, but regardless of whether the scene in question now bothers Swery, it's the company that stands in the way of that change without a larger push for it. Then again, considering they have to put out a patch for the FPS anyway, the idea of tacking on this change becomes a lot more possible.

Re: The ESA Reminds Us That E3 Will Return

kenyowa

Will it, though? They had companies dropping out long before people started talking about the coronavirus outside the context of China. I'd love for it to come back with that convenient burst of information at the start of each June, but I have some doubts the game industry will still take them seriously by that time next year.
