The nature of using money to gauge interest still doesn't sit quite right with me, but forcing consumers to put their money where their mouth is certainly sounds like something Kamiya would do, so I'm not really surprised.

Genealogy of the Holy War and Thracia 776 are unlisted because I haven't gotten around to playing them. IntSys has been dropping hints at remakes and western releases, so I'll wait for them to officially come to the west since Genealogy's gameplay speed gives me a headache.

Inclusivity and representation are good things (when handled well), but that can't be the backbone of a game, just as it can't be the backbone of a movie or a book. This game just... doesn't look fun. It looks like one of those low quality DS games with a random celebrity's face attached to it as a doomed marketing tactic. Typically, so-called "pandering" tends to be the result of a minority author who wants to give their minority some representation. This doesn't read that way at all though. This game comes off as thinking that inclusiveness is a substitute for quality, rather than an additional feature.

@J-Plap it does though? If a trans man (that is to say F2M) is attracted exclusively to women, they would be straight.

In all seriousness? Trans people can be straight too dude. In other words, yes there are heterosexual people in the LGBT+ community.

@travisrusko You're right, ideas do have real world consequences: yours include forcing children to live a life that is not their own, and watching them grow up into depressed adults. Your understanding of sex and gender is deficient, and it will cause real world harm to someone if you do not learn better. Morally speaking, it is you who are in the wrong. That is not a subjective opinion, it is fact.

It's understandable if you're unaware, because it's a relatively newly explored branch of science, though it was likely studied at the early 20th century Institute for the Science of Sexuality, where the term "transsexualism" was coined before it was shut down and had its records burned by the Nazi Party. Modern science is producing overwhelming evidence that gender-- as well as physical sex --is determined by more than what's between the legs.

Very nice! Glad to see Nintendo continuing to open the doors on self-expression in their games. The comment section will eventually be overrun by angry bigots who were never going to play the game anyway, but it's nice while it's still calm.

Very cool, good for them, but I seriously hope they're not seriously counting this as part of the Platinum 4. Consumers deserve better.

@Alucard83 The last four Fire Emblem games allowed you to play optional maps to level yourself up, starting from early in the game.

@Gasarakii There's datamines showing data for 2 more DLC patches in 3H, so either they got scrapped or they're coming later on. Personally I think if we get anything more this year it'll be around April 20th, since it's the 30th Anniversary of Fire Emblem.

Hopefully with their continued growth, they'll be able to make new games with the strengths of both the old (stronger, more challenging gameplay) and the new (well-written characters that aren't the main character).

I feel like the emotional impact of watching Sans and Yoshi duke it out to Techno Syndrome would be too much for me to handle. I love it.

... Anyway, sounds like a decent read. Maybe this will help me bide my time while waiting for Heart of the Woods to finally hit Switch.

I got the original DMC but am struggling with the controls and camera - do I need to play the first two before i go to DMC3? I know the second one is largely considered skippable but I'm not too sure about the first

@Borngis I think they haven't shown the full roster quite yet - Marth, for example, had his game in 1990 and he's not there either.

Hyped, but cautious after the the recent paywall issues in both Pokemon Sw/Sh and their mobile titles. Not gonna be thrilled if they announce that several villagers will be behind a DLC paywall.

Considering Activision-Blizzard's newfound dedication to angering consumers of all stripes, I have to wonder why they decided this was the best idea.

@kobashi100 Oh yeah, big time. Not only was the original Catherine transphobic, but the remake doubled down on it so hard that the localization team had to go the extra mile to make it even mildly acceptable in the English release. It's still awful in Japanese though, so it's still not worth giving them money.

I swear if we get six straight months of trailers for this Catherine trash like we did when it came out on PS4 I'm gonna riot. Bring us P5!

@Flamesiegmund Finally, someone else who shares this sentiment. I've been struggling through each route since I compulsively play each game as "Fashion Emblem." I was hoping they would un-gender lock some classes (like war master) for similar reasons. Doesn't seem to be happening either.

Hopefully this year is just an off year for E3, and they won't double down on this influencer nonsense instead of ditching it outright. Most of the games announced at the Xbox and Square Enix conferences end up on Sony as well, so I really don't care if we don't get Sony there.

I'm usually down for their character design choices, but uh... why does Professor Oak look like he's having a mid-life crisis?

The difference between the professional-looking cover art and the Newgrounds-adjacent in-game art really threw me. A shame, I've been looking for a new shmup to blow some time on until the big game releases in March.

I think they should've gone with a Pokemon-trainer style approach and made it Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude. Fire Emblem fans would be more than happy, and not a sword in sight! Does it make any thematic sense for the game? No! Does it matter? Even less so!

Fingers crossed this leaves other Square characters up for the picking. I really enjoy Sora, but I'd much rather have Crono.

No shame in that, it's a brutally overrated console. The smash community's obsession with its controller continues to confuse me.

Man oh man, is this thread going to be a mess. Fire Emblem's my favorite Nintendo IP so I can't say I'm upset that Byleth is in, but it's sad to see Sakurai held down by corporate restraints.

It's being held captive in a vault with Pokemon Diamond and Pearl remakes.

Still not 100% sure what this game is or how it got so universally known, but I liked their work on NieR:Automata so I'll probably snag this

Wow, talk about unprofessional. I never really saw the N64 losing to the PS1, but it seems to me that any problems the N64 might have faced could be sourced to its cartridge format and uncomfortable controller.

@pumpknsniper The subscription creates an unfair environment where F2P players are put at a blatant disadvantage. Nintendo does not need this to make money off of Fire Emblem Heroes - as discussed in a NintendoLife article within the last week, FEH made Nintendo over half a billion dollars last year through orb purchases alone. This only deepens the divide between those who are able to spend the extra money to be at the top of the leaderboards, and casual players who can no longer reasonably keep up in PvP modes.

Yeah... I think I'm done. Iwata stayed away from mobile games for years because he thought they prioritized profit over integrity and quality. Now, half a decade after his passing, Nintendo has not only proven him right but betrayed his legacy to boot. I've defended this game for far too long. I'm gone.

This is not how I imagined we'd get Persona 5 on the Switch, but it really is the funniest way possible.

Who wants to bet GameFreak slaps a price tag on it?

@Anti-Matter I cannot possibly imagine a worse idea than switching Pokemon to a real time battle format. The problem with Pokemon has been with the constant addition and subtraction of features without any attention to player feedback. Nobody is out here protesting the gameplay style.

Hopefully all these games moving in on Pokemon's territory will put some pressure on in the upper management at GameFreak. Maybe they'll finally start caring about what their players want again.

Currently taking the time to change all of the Fire Emblem stage music to Paths That Will Never Cross. This may not have been the DLC that Gotham wanted, but it was the DLC that Gotham needed.

Hopefully Smash fans will have calmed down by now. This reveal is still the funniest thing to happen all month, though.
