TV for big and social games (Mario Party, Xenoblade etc) Handheld for Indy & puzzle games and for games that need connected controllers (tetris, mario 35)
Nintendo released stats saying that there was roughly an even spread of handheld/TV only/both play styles. I think handheld just out edged TV only by a couple percent.
So he might understand the concept (it's really not that hard) but he is wrong in this instance.
The header image just shows the vast step up in visuals from 7 to 8!
I have both games several times so I'm not going to get the double pack but it's worth the investment for those who've not played either game. That's easily 200+ hours of video game for £35.
@Gumbo1995 I totally agree. I thought there would be some restrictions because it is Niantic but monetisation of Pokemon's biggest hook (trading) is a new low. Still, I'm not going to let it worry me. It's a game after all. I just feel sorry for the ones that will feel pressured to pay for the "cool down".
It's an odd move. I can see why people are annoyed.
Personally, I've found what hatches from eggs are usually not worth the hassle. The "Dragon" week showed that in an amazing way. Either the stats are poor or I got Tepig for the hundredth time. I think I've had one shiny and one max IV Pokémon hatch since the game started.
Good that some it the other benefits are now permanent such as the daily bonuses and remote raid passes.
I didn't think Niantic would monetise transferring Pokémon between games but here we are.
Since I've not been lucky enough to catch any shinies in the mainline games a part from Red Gyrados. I've been saving shiny monsters to transfer so I can have some on the big screen. I don't mind it taking forever to do, but that is a seriously shady business practice.
@Northwind @pod It is indeed physical copies. It's all formats that can be bought physically. There were plans to include digital sales but that's quietly gone away since Nintendo doesn't release digital numbers anywhere.
Also, in the UK at least availability has been strong. I had no problems picking my copy up from Amazon (Inc £5 discount, win!) on Friday. The Nintendo UK store has sold out though.
@Brummieendo90 yep, it'll be horrible if Microsoft gets any bigger.
I think that they're buying studios to explore the option of becoming a huge publisher if Series X and S fail to hit the mark.
The only console they had that challenged the norm was the 360 and that's because of Sony's mistakes but Sony managed to turn that around. Xbox One and the OG has been nowhere near as successful as Microsoft hoped.
I don't think Microsoft would know what to do with Sega if they did buy them. Most of Sega's income comes from outside video games.
If we look at the reason for Microsoft buying Zenimax (GamePass), I think it's more likely they'll go for EA as they've just rolled EA play into the service.
EA have had a close relationship with Microsoft in the same vein as Bethesda since the first Xbox and their sport and RPG games fits with the Xbox demographic.
Even though Zenimax is a big corporation this is bad news. There will be less options across platforms for gamers to choose and less original games.
Think about what Microsoft did to scalebound. If Platinum was self publishing, that game would've released. Instead they spent 5 years only for Microsoft to pull the plug and for platinum nearly went bust.
I can see Microsoft only using them for specific series such as id for Doom and Wolfenstein, or putting Arkane on Dishonored only.
Look how long it was between Rare games after they got shoved on Kinect, or that Ninja Theory are making their first sequel after a pretty perfect story.
Had to cancel my preorder due to needing to pay for an unexpected medical bill. Luckily there seems to be a lot of stock about so I'll get it next month.
If this is correct, it's interesting that the Switch version is cheaper. Probably because the PS4/Xbox will be upgraded for "free" to the PS5/Series X.
Hmm. I think this adds more fuel to the Switch4k rumour rather than current hardware. They always seem to get a bit press happy when a new console is coming.
If EA Play only allows access to games on that system then it'll be pointless since it's just reskins of FIFA and a few other titles. This is totally an EA thing to do, so perhaps I'm jumping to conclusions.
But if they're looking a full service that would mean pushing either streaming, which hasn't been tested outside of Japan, or they'd need more powerful hardware to run games like Battlefront and Battlefield.
On its own, it looks like EA trying to get money for not a lot of work but when it's combined with Nintendo's quietness on its pipeline & some big 3rd party games going dark (Hey Doom Eternal, Prince of Persia, the rumoured Tony Hawk port, Crash 4 etc), I think something big is coming soon.
Normally I'll go through shopto or Base but for this I went directly to Nintendo just for this type of reason.
F to everyone effected, although stock is still available on the Nintendo UK site so it's not as limited as it seems (and definitely not a Scalpers paradise).
One of the things I did like about BotW was the backstory. It annoyed me we never really found out what happened. Now, we're going to! I can't wait for this, although the timing of it isn't great. I have a feeling it's going to get drowned by the new consoles.
Pre-ordered! I'm happy about this because even though I have the originals, I can play this off the telly AND I'm hoping Sunshine's controls are fixed.
Haven't played the game but I thought it strange that after one complaint the Devs decided to step in.
I initially thought that the team shouldn't have made changes because it's one point of view - someone could well want to be free of a wheelchair.
However, after reading the statement and follow up replies from Thunder Lotus I can understand their reasoning. Here's what I'm referring to from their Twitter:
"Also, without getting into too far into spoiler territory, saying this is the character's own perspective doesn't actually hold water."
So if this isn't the message the team wanted to convey, then I don't see the problem with changing it.
I know this is all a rumour and such but can't we learn from the Metroid Prime trilogy and Pokémon Stars that it's best not to listen to "credible" rumours and just wait for announcements?
Played for an hour last night and I'm currently sitting on a 10-4 streak for team Chicken. It's the best start I've had to a Splatfest since the Wii U days
This is why the e-shop needs sorting out. I loved the original pc game back in the day and have no hesitations picking up the release last year. Gonna wait for the definitive edition.

Re: SNK Apologises For "Offensive Ad" Featuring Fatal Fury's Terry Bogard
Well these comments make me not want to be on this site any more.
Re: It's Been Three Years Since We First Embarked On A Super Mario Odyssey
It was a good game but felt like another 3D World rather than Sunshine or Galaxy 1. I finished it but had no drive to 100% it.
Re: Nintendo Is Releasing Three Switch Bundles In Japan Next Month
@Liam_Doolan but this one has matching wriststraps!
I can't believe Nintendo included black ones with their colourful bundles. It makes no sense.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel #65 - Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem
The Japanese box is too busy for my tastes so I voted for ɐɔᴉɹǝɯⱯ ɥʇɹoN ⅋ ǝdoɹnƎ
Re: Poll: Do You Play Your Switch More In Docked Or Handheld Mode?
50/50 for me.
TV for big and social games (Mario Party, Xenoblade etc)
Handheld for Indy & puzzle games and for games that need connected controllers (tetris, mario 35)
Re: Random: Test Your Nintendo Knowledge With This New Video Series
Wow some of those are hard. Fun little quizzes though 😊

Re: The Original Fire Emblem Is Coming To The West For The First Time Ever On Switch
I can understand it not being on NSO NES. But Nintendo have spent actual time localising this only to have it as a limited time release?
There's either something wrong with that or it's the most Nintendo thing Nintendo have done in a while.

That Midna statue is incredible!
Re: Video: The Monster Hunter Movie's First Official Trailer Is Here
@TheFrenchiestFry his Mortal Kombat film is brilliant and rather close to the original. With some tweaks.
This looks fun!
Re: Random: Minecraft Steve's Smash Ultimate Win Screen Is, Erm, Unfortunate
So if that's the sword, why isn't he holding it? If it was in either hand it'll be fine.
Re: Nintendo Has Wiped The Pikmin Short Movies From Wii U And Put Them On YouTube Instead
@Abeedo if you've bought them then you'll still have access. If not, then no as they're getting pulled as well.
Re: Looks Like Pokémon Sword And Shield's Physical DLC Bundle Will Cost $90
If you look on Facebook marketplace you can find copies of Sword and Shield for £25.
Re: Minecraft Steve's Smash Bros. Release Date And Further Details Will Be Revealed This Weekend
@noobish_hat yep. The rule is an amiibo for every character. However, we might get 4 since we got alternatives for Bayonetta and Cloud.
Re: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's Next DLC Fighter To Be Revealed Tomorrow, 1st October
@Teksetter I agree. Purple overall Luigi variant needs to be his own character.

I wouldn't be surprised if stardust is also used.

I voted once a year because it pretty much lives in the dock. 😉
Re: Pokémon Sword And Shield's The Crown Tundra DLC Launches Next Month, All Past Legendaries Appear
This sounds meaty. If the boxed package is a reasonable cost, I'm buying it.
Re: 10 Second Ninja X Brings 'Blisteringly Fast Hardcore Action Platforming' To Switch
This gave me blisters on the PS4!
The lag from the dual shock was also painful. Hopefully it'll be more forgiving with the joycon locked to the console.

A re-release or remake or anything would be nice so that the price of the DS games can come down!
Re: Poll: What's The Best 3D Sonic Game?
Eek. That's not a good list. I'm sure some people will love the 3D games but I'm not one of them and not just because of the play style.
Granted I've not played colours which is supposed to be the best one, but still. Eek.

Re: Nintendo 3DS Production Has Officially Come To An End
I thoroughly enjoyed the 3DS from its release until today and definitely beyond. It's the only console I've played so much I had to get a replacement!
I tried to fix it but the screws stripped and I couldn't get into it without breaking it beyond repair. I was gutted.
Re: Review: Super Mario 3D All-Stars - Three Of Mario's Greatest Adventures Come To Switch

The greatest, most well known and loved Pokémon of all time! And Pikachu.
Re: Review: Super Mario 3D All-Stars - Three Of Mario's Greatest Adventures Come To Switch
Disappointed with the lack of Galaxy 2, but welcome the changes to sunshine's controls. That was the only thing holding that game back.
It'll be a good trip down memory lane to play all 3 again.

Re: FIFA 21 Costs £45 On Switch, Despite Being Another 'Legacy' Reskin
Let's not forget, new box art and new menu icon. It's not ALL just a reskin.
Being honest, this is a Mickey take. Even EA acknowledge it with the wording on the box and eshop description.

Re: This Animal Crossing Nook's Cranny Set Is Being Officially Reviewed By LEGO
As lovely as this would be, this won't get past licencing stage since Nintendo will want all of the profits and not give anything to the creators.
It's the same with the Zelda sets that constantly get voted for by the community.
