Minecraft Steve's Smash Bros. Release Date And Further Details Will Be Revealed This Weekend

Huh. I have no problem with this choice. There are definitely others I would rather have had, but oh well.

Steve is finally in, the mob vote was a clue to him going to Smadh Bros Ultimate

so this will be the traditional sakurai stream. excited to watch!

I have absolutely no idea anymore who the other characters of the fighter pass will be. Everything's possible at this point.

Also, I would really like Steve to have a taunt in which he turns into a Tetris block. Any block, really.

In before people complain it's not the exact character they want from the entire world of video games.

I’m endlessly curious how the building mechanic works. This looks to be one of the most insanely unique characters in the game. I’m mega excited to see Sakurai make sense of it all.

There are still 4 more characters in the Fighters Pass, and Steve already looks like a really unique fighter. I'm especially excited to see how the new Minecraft stage will work.

Could Smash really be a celebration of gaming without including the best-selling video game of all time?
I don't even care about Minecraft that much, but it makes perfect sense.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised Steve made it in since this is the same person who put characters like Game & Watch and Duck Hunt into Smash for their quirkiness and historical relevance. I just hope Sakurai doesn't choose to put in a Fortnite or FNaF rep in the roster next because those game series are "popular" with kids.

I was shocked by the reveal, but excited.

I think this a smart move by Nintendo, via marketing.

Guess Microsoft got a second one this time. As much as I don't like the character, it is understandable why he was chosen.

@noobish_hat yep. The rule is an amiibo for every character. However, we might get 4 since we got alternatives for Bayonetta and Cloud.

@Savino You mean PlayStation character? The closest ones we got were Joker and Cloud Strife, PlayStation would had gotten a third one had Crash Bandicoot got in. We still got 4 more to go so hopefully one of them is him otherwise tough luck.

Cloud from Final Fantasy VII is in the game. So are Sonic and Mega Man which both appeared on Sony hardware?
And Bayonetta, Joker, Hero, Ryu and Ken, Snake, Simon and Richter.

I seriously doubt Kratos, Spiderman or someone from the Last of Us or Horizon franchises will be joining the roster. They're not really … 'defining' characters enough, I think? Maybe somebody from the Tekken franchise?

Also, there's PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. A game only for Playstation characters.

I hate everything about Minecraft

No thanks. For most any other character I would have tuned in but damn this has got to be one of the most disappointing choices they could have gone with.

Well that was underwhelming, but we'll see how the Minecraft character(s) play in-game, who knows maybe Steve (and Alex) will be fun to play as.

@Ludovsky I just hope they don't waste it on an Overwatch or Monster Hunter character or any avatar style character really. We already got like dozens of avatar style characters in Smash Ultimate it's really kinda lame now. Avatar characters are characters that had little to no real personality and often had male and female version of themselves such as Robin, Wii Fit Trainer, Corrin, Inkling, Byleth, Yoshi, Pokemon, Pokemon Trainer, Villager, and Miis.

@Savino No Sony-exclusive characters like Kratos or Nathan Drake, but there are third party inclusions like Snake, Joker, Richter and Cloud Strife, whose debut franchises have a strong association with PlayStation platforms

I got it spoiled beforehand but that was an amazing reveal. This character looks amazing.

@Entrr_username Byleth was sort of disappointing, but is really fun to play as.

@Entrr_username Byleth at least has personality. And fun looking moveset. Steve looks incredibly dull and boring and I hate how he's animated. I can't stand it. The animation style is part of the reason I never got into minecraft and it's certainly not going to sell me on playing Steve in Smash.

I'm happy for his fans but I couldn't be more disappointed myself.

@Yosher I understand that the movement animations look off even if they're supposed to replicate the main series. I still feel it's worth waiting till Saturday to get a better understanding of the movement.

Imagine a Steve amiibo, that almost seems too legendary to be real...
