Re: Surprise! Fire Emblem Engage's 'Wave 3' Expansion Pass DLC Is Releasing Soon

jolteon23

@Thenewguy I have the exact same thing, while I enjoyed my playthrough of Engage, I enjoyed FE Three Houses much, much more. I can't really put my finger on what it is that is so different about Engage, but it might have to do with the characters not really feeling alive within the world/story to me. In Three Houses all the characters really came from parts of their territories and had extensive background info and connections to other characters through them. That might just be it actually.

I think they're very similar in portraying Samus' coolness, but I went for the Japanese one this time because of the location that is much better featured in the artwork. I love the look of this dark and mysterious corridor filled with enemies stretching out behind Samus.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (February 11th)

Since I'm holding off buying Metroid Prime Remastered until the physical release, I will mostly be playing Hogwarts Legacy on PS5, but because me and my partner like to do a playthrough on seperate accounts (he really wanted to play as a Slytherin, typical), it gives me the perfect opportunity to play the Divine Paralogues of Hector, Soren and Camilla on Fire Emblem Engage. And since Soren is one of my favorite characters to come out of the series, I'm also kind of glad I will be pulled away from Hogwarts Legacy.

I will be spending the weekend getting into the latter half of Fire Emblem Engage. I'm absolutely loving the game, although I think I'd prefer Three Houses' more traditional medieval style story over this one.

Elsewhere I've gotten back into Elden Ring after finally defeat Morgott last night. Eager to jump into this game some more before Hogwart's Legacy releases next week. Happy gaming everyone!

Re: Hands On: Fire Emblem Engage Is Surprisingly Fast-Paced And Delightfully Deep

jolteon23

I have been a huge Fire Emblem fan from the (western) start. And I am very excited for this new entry. I just do not understand all the comments of people being afraid it's going to be too waifu or anime-y or how this game and TH isn't for them. Of course to eaxlch their own. But anime and waifu type elements have always been a part of this series. There were literal anime and furry type people in both Path of Radiance and Radiance dawn and some had very obcvious gendered or love interested choices built into them. If that's not for you, just say that. But don't pretend it's something from the last two games. By the way, most of this is very easily skippable, like the tea time in TH, and doesn't have to impact your experience with the tactical side of it at all.

Re: Fire Emblem Engage Characters - Every New And Returning Hero Revealed So Far

jolteon23

@tenthAvatar I wholeheartedly disagree. I feel like Fire Emblem is so well received because it's bursting with personality. Other SRPGs that try a similar formula, sometimes fail because they lack heart. Especially since they've implemented voice acting it no longer feels low budget at all. (sidenote: I am a big FE fan since localization, so not objective at all )

Also, if Nintendo wanted to they could work on their more dormant franchises. But sales numbers just aren't motivating enough. Demand for games like F-Zero seems high on websites like these, but it's not likely a new iteration or remake would outperform previous installments.

Re: Nintendo Releases Stunning New Story Trailer For Fire Emblem Engage

jolteon23

I'm a big Fire Emblem fan (so, I'm not entirely objective) and this second story trailer looks amazing. I thought the reveal trailer was a bit underwhelming for what it tried to do, but this one is much stronger. I love the new countries that were introduced (I mean, c'mon realistic diversity) and I've spotted some interesting characters. Can't wait!

Re: Feature: The 10 Best Ace Attorney Cases, Ranked

jolteon23

I wish I could read through the whole list without spoiling myself. I own all Ace Attorney games, but have only played the original trilogy and the Professor Layton spin-off. So I only read those parts. Thanks for the reminder to make work of the other games on DS, 3DS and Switch!

Re: Random: Megan Fox Cosplayed As Princess Zelda For Halloween This Year

jolteon23

@Eagly I really don't think she made it "porn", in fact I think it's quite modest. She just found ways to have fun with the concept and make it sexy, nothing wrong with that imo. Saying you're not prude and then bashing women for revealing too much is not the way to go, Eagly. Same for Doja Cat, she's clearly having fun with it while also trying to stay close to the material. It was a joy to look at those photos.

I bought VLR and ZTD on 3DS years ago but never got around to playing them, because I found out they were sequels to 999. So, I finally played through 999 via GamePass this Summer and it completely blew my mind. I played through all the paths in 2 nights, I was sad to finish it. I should really boot up my 3DS again and start playing the sequels after reading this entertaining take on VLR

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (October 22nd)

jolteon23

This weekend will be the start of a well deserved week off from work. Over this weekend I'll be playing Dreamlight Valley and become best pals with Scar, my favorite misunderstood villain. It's difficult to live in your brother's shadow, you know.

I'll also be diving into Paper Mario Origami King for the first time in an attempt to work on my backlog.

On Switch I'll finally be playing the Torna DLC to prepare for XBC3 later this month. I'll also be continueing my first run of Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes.

Elsewhere, on XBox GamePass, I'll be finishing the true ending branch of 9 hours, 9 persons, 9 doors and after that I'll be moving on to Virtue's Last Reward. I'm already having such a blast with these Zero Escape games.

Re: Fantasy-Action Battle Royale Spellbreak Shuts Down Early Next Year

jolteon23

I have played and enjoyed the game for a while. It became stale eventuallly. Me and my friends have always been dissapointed that there were no new magics introduced, ever. I think BR games need to freshen up every season, like Fortnite does every time. Either with new gameplay mechanics, a new map or new items. Spellbreak did almost none of those.
