In case you needed a reminder, Bayonetta 3 is launching later this month on October 28th - this month, Umbra Witches! It's crazy to think that prior to September 2021, we hadn't the foggiest idea when this game would show up, and now it's almost here.
The lucky ducks over at Game Informer have managed to get extensive hands-on time with Bayonetta 3 and are currently showcasing various aspects of the game on the outlet's YouTube channel. The first video is a relatively brief overview of everything new in the sequel, including the rather fancy 'Demon Masquerade' mechanic, environmental puzzles, side activities, and the introduction of 'Embryos' as the game's primary currency. The second video, if you scroll your peepers down below, serves as an introduction to the new playable character Viola, an Umbra Witch in training. Equipped with a sword, Viola doesn't have access to the wide range of weaponry that Bayonetta is able to utilise, but she uses throwing knives for her ranged combat and is also able to call up Cheshire, her demonic cat companion, for the more trickier in-game encounters. It's also mentioned that while Viola is slightly slower to control than Bayonetta, she more than makes up for this with increased power.
Something else to note is just how gorgeous the footage is, particularly during Viola's showcase. It certainly puts to rest the nagging concerns this writer had regarding the game's visual style in comparison to the first two titles. Here's hoping everything will come together to make Bayonetta 3 the best entry from PlatinumGames so far!

With how much Nintendo promotes this IP...I never actually played any of the entries, maybe one day!
Also kinda sad how they fund this while they don't even own it but refuse to make another FZero.🥺
I became a father last month, and the currency being embryo’s feels incredibly dark now…. Got to step over that point though I guess, since the rest looks to my liking.

The lack of Taylor voicing Bayo and being forced to play as this Viola (who basically DMC4 Nero) is really killing my hype. The more i hear and see the more the magic seems lost.
@Arkay Someone's got to keep the lights on at Platinum, and Nintendo has the best track record for funneling the studio's chaotic energy into finished, high-quality products. Though I'd agree they also have a growing collection of abandoned franchises that could really use some love.

@Arkay Two problems with FZero: 1 Nintendo argues that they would have to come up with something that lets it stand out of the past entries. 2 FZero and Future Racers in general aren't selling so great.
I personally believe that even if they don't sell well, among those 100 Mio switch players out there are enough to at least justify an HD remake of GX.
But on the other hand, GX and X both aged pretty well and are still a lot of fun today. Its not like other IPs where its better to play just a newer game as their formula has been improved over the years. FZero remains FZero.

Still think this game doesn't look as good as Bayo 1 and 2. Not looking forward to playing as Lady Vergil...
I've played Bayonetta since day one of launch back on Xbox 360 and loved the sequel. As soon as I saw Viola I lost all interest in Bayonetta 3 and I won't be buying. I think Platinum Games has lost their magic.

Second: I feel you. With becoming a parent, I also experienced a change in my perception of how children are depicted and treated in media. That can be, that you can't swallow some stuff that easily anymore. But it also - and that happens surprisingly often - can totally add value to how you receive a work and I came to see that as an advantage overall.
@valcoholic that's the thing, it's been so long since a new entry that they literally do not have to reinvent anything!
Hell, like you mentioned I'll gladly take a GX "remaster" with newer tracks and online play.
@Arkay whats weird to me is that other racers never really tried to copy FZero. Other future racers usually always go the same path as WipeOut. More obstacles, tracks that feel more like playing an action level, enemies with weapons, less speed and less racers. I mean for one or two franchises thats fine, but even new entries like FAST Racing or Redout are just no real replacement for the crazy dynamic of bolting along with 29 other racers. It is crazy how unique it feels to just play FZero X on NSO, like 25 years after launch. What a crazy achievement in gamedesign!
I cannot put a finger on it, but somehow this game looks less enticing then Boyonetta2.
Is it Bayo's new hairstyle, the colour scheme of the enemies? Mmmm not sure, I'll be waiting for reviews before I decide to pick this one up.
@ohithere The Viola design certainly puts some doubt in my mind. Hopefully the character proves to be good enough.
