Re: Video: We "Opened" An Original Nintendo Game Boy From 1989

idork99

so sorry about that Zion! you’re a brave soul!

on the other hand, at least you have the original box with all the instruction booklets, game link cable, and headphones!

don’t know how much of “too much money” you paid but I’d pay a decent amount of money for the original Game Boy with its original box and all of its contents.

Re: Popular Game & Watch Hacking Videos Are Being Targeted By Nintendo's Ninjas

idork99

it takes tools and talent to hack this thing. I personally couldn’t do it.

like many of you here, I’ve played the hell out of Super Mario Bros. on many Nintendo systems through out the years starting with the original NES. oddly enough, this Game & Watch hardware has to be one of the best ways to play this game. the controls are super responsive. with that said, that is the reason I was intrigued with the hacking as I’d love to play more NES games on this little hardware. I’d love if Nintendo released more Game & Watch games in the future. fingers crossed for a Zelda one with part I and II from NES

Re: Video: So, Are People Still Playing 3DS Games Online?

idork99

I forget that Kid Icarus has on line! does anyone still have the stand that comes with the game? I do and I continue to use it in various ways (Wii U game pad, Switch holder).

anyhow, I recently started playing again on my 3DS after a couple of years of abandonment and have only tried out MK7 on line. I’ll have to try out SF4 now that I know it’s still active.

Re: Feature: Ten Arcade Games We'd Love To See On Switch

idork99

classic arcade games have been present on the Switch since day one and the library grows every week! I’m grateful for the long list of classics available.

and like this feature, I, too, have ten arcade games I’d love to see on the Switch. many readers have their own list. we’ll just have to see what arcade retro goodness 2021 brings to the system. kudos to all the companies for bringing all these classics and for more to come!

Re: Random: Family Video Closes Its Doors After 42 Years

idork99

I live in the West Coast of the US so I had never heard of this family chain.

but I can relate with the loss of a video store. I grew up with the obvious Blockbuster and Hollywood Video, but I also rented from many other local places that slowly closed one by one. weekends were magical as a child as it meant no school and playing a new game that I rented every weekend!

RIP physical rental stores 😢

Re: Super Mario 3D World Teaser Webpage Tells Fans To "Stay Tuned" For More Details About Bowser's Fury

idork99

will I be returning to SM3DW? YES!!! personally, I believe it’s the best Mario game in the franchise! playing solo is fun. but when played in co-op is where the game really shines! one of the best co-op games ever made. can’t wait to play on line as well!

as far as Bowser’s Fury, I feel that it’s going to be what Lost Levels was to the original Super Mario Bros. what the New Super Luigi U was to the New Super Mario Bros. U: painfully difficult.

Re: Random: This Mario Kart And LEGO Mario Fusion Is A Work Of Genius

idork99

awesome idea Playfool! extremely creative!

I’m a SUPER fan of the Mario Kart franchise so MKL:HC was an automatic purchase for me. the thing that surprises me is how I’m still enjoying creating courses! I felt that it was going to be something I played with for a bit and would just have the kart for display but I’m still enjoying it! highly recommend to all Mario Kart fanatics!

Re: Frustrated Fan Makes My Nintendo Physical Reward Stock Checker

idork99

I recently used 800 of my hard earned Platinum Points on the Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit - Decoration Kit. It really gives my home made courses that Mario Kart touch.

but I do agree that Club Nintendo was better and gave out more rewards for your purchases. sure, I did like a hundred + surveys for all of my purchased games but the payback was awesome! shirts, posters, video game soundtracks...a whole lot more merch than they offer now.

Re: AGDQ Schedule Includes Hades And Super Mario Bros. 35 Speedruns

idork99

Celeste has been out for a good while and I just keep hearing about how great the game (and music) is. I need to purchase soon.

same with Hades. I’m not much into rogue type dungeon crawlers but the reviews (plus several game of the year awards for 2020) have been very positive that I’ve been tempted to purchase.

so, I won’t be watching AGDQ for these games until I try them out.

Re: Feature: Switch Puts The Arcade Of Your Dreams In The Palm Of Your Hand

idork99

cool feature!

since the Wii, I’ve always appreciated how Nintendo gave players access to past hits via the virtual console although limited mainly to the games from their past consoles.

with the Switch, I love that they have brought a ton of classics in their original arcade format! as a child who grew up in arcades in the 80’s, the Switch has become the arcade of my dreams in the palm of my hand!

Continue? yes I will! (inserts virtual coin) 🪙

Re: Feature: What's The Best Way To Play Super Mario Bros. In 2020?

idork99

I have purchased Super Mario Bros. many times over as many of you.

I don’t know if it’s because it’s the most recent release but if you’re sight is still good, the Game & Watch release has to be one of the best ways to play. the d-pad and buttons are small but the controls are super responsive!

Re: Don Your Green Beret, Konami's Rush'n Attack Hits The Switch Today

idork99

I used to play this game on the NES when first released. I never made it far as it was pretty difficult at the time. I’ll prob give this one a go for purchase.

btw I love Hamster and all the work they’ve done with the Arcade Archives! every time I purchase a game, it feels like I turn into a child that has gone back in time with an endless amount of coins 🪙 in my pocket 🥰

Re: Random: Super-Clever AR Hacks Make Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit Really Shine

idork99

cool video! I’m inspired to be more creative with the track creation!

also, I recently received my Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit - Decoration Kit courtesy of My Nintendo (and my 800 Platinum Points that I had to redeem). https://my.nintendo.com/rewards/ff9412a16807b251 it’ll be nice to give my tracks that authentic Mario Kart feel with the in game billboards. plus, it comes with the additional eight arrow fences so I’ll have ten in total with the additional two that come with the original package. gotta get the creative cap on to make some unique tracks!

Re: The Wii U First Launched Eight Years Ago Today

idork99

the Switch is pretty much a portable Wii U!

the positives of owning a Wii U: backward compatibility with the original Wii, and that you can play some games from the GBA, and DS library via virtual console.

you can play almost all the A-list games from the Wii U on Switch (MK8D, DK Tropical Freeze, NSMBUD, Pikmin 3, TLOZ:BOTW, and SMB 3D World) but, of course, you’ll have to pay to own them again on your newer system. Even 3D All Stars, with the exception of Sunshine, you can play SM64 and Galaxy 1 (and Galaxy 2) on Wii U.

Re: Scalpers Are Trying To Flog The New Game & Watch For £200, But Don't Fall For It

idork99

here in the US, I was fortunate enough to grab two; one for play and one as a collectors item!

on Friday, I had to go to four different places before finding one at a GameStop 25 minutes away from home.

early Sunday morning, I noticed that my local Wal-Mart (the very first place I went to look on Friday) had seven in stock according to their website so I went to have a look. sure enough, they had them and was able to grab a second one.

the strange thing about that last purchase was that I went back to the Wal-Mart website right after my purchase only to see that they no longer had them in store for pick up. furthermore, they only had them for online delivery at $100! that’s double the price!!

Re: Japanese Charts: Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit Speeds Into First Place

idork99

@Heavyarms55 just like @GrailUK says, the actual kart doesn’t move that fast. especially at 50cc. also, when going at 150/200cc, the camera blurs making it a bit difficult to see the AR obstacles on the track. so if one has a little bit of play space, you still can come up with some good tracks that you’ll see clearly on your screen and have a blast with it even at 50cc IMO

Re: Random: It Turns Out Some Cats Love Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit

idork99

@wazlon I don’t have carpet so I’ve yet to try. regardless of terrain, just be sure the area you kart is clean. the kart picks up a lot of debris and I’ve read reviews in which the wheels had a lot of hair get stuck within the tires making them difficult to impossible to control correctly. otherwise, Live kart is pretty awesome!
