Today I caught a train and played Metroid Prime. Despite owning a Switch since launch day and playing countless games on trains over the years, playing Metroid Prime, on a train, was just a mind blowing experience to me. The last time I played this game was when it launched for GameCube and I still associate it with cutting edge. The remaster feels like cutting edge again. Except, this time, I'm playing it on a train. Can't believe I still get these eureka moments, but oh boy, I really do. When I got home a whacked the switch in the dock and continued playing on 50" TV. The Switch is such an awesome all round console. Love it

Excellent. All of that relationship social nonsense from three houses did my nut in. I just want to fight. Thought my fire emblem days were over. Kudos to the devs for having the balls to change it up. Gone from not interested to very interested and will probably pick this up day 1.

Here's 3 ideas. 1) Transfer all digital sales to the new platform - we don't need to buy mario bros for the gazillionth time 2) Make it fully backards compatible with all Switch software, and 3) Improve the online hub on both Switch and Switch Pro, so you can see which platform your friends are on. Then add new features just to the Switch Pro version such as trophies, groups etc. That way, players on Switch will want to upgrade to Switch Pro when they see that their friends are bragging about trophies etc.

Oh, and bring back Miiverse

Looks perfect to me. I spend 99% of my switch gaming sessions sat on the sofa. I consider it more handheld than portable. So bigger the better if you ask me.

I missed the direct but wow that's a lot of games

Despite being a life long Nintendo fan, have never played a Pokemon game. The longer it goes on the more daunting a proposition it sounds.

Picked it up last night and been playing it pretty much straight since. About 10 hours in to GTA3 and am having a blast. Yes it's a 20 year old game - it hasn't aged particularly well but if you take it for what it is, then it's still a whole load of fun. People keep expecting miracles then surprised when they don't get them. Just be thankful we have these pieces of gaming history on the switch at all!

I’m really enjoying skyward sword. I had bad memories of the wii version mostly due to motion controls. And the same happened with the switch version until I decided to ditch them and go buttons only. It was a good decision. The frustrations are gone and can finally appreciate the game for what it is.

I remember getting lost on hyrule field in ocarina of time - that feeling of isolation and grand scale. Here I am running around this massive field and my home village being so far away. It seems negligible now, given how big the hyrule map is in breath of the wild. But 12 year old me, playing oot on my trusty n64, late at night - I’ll never forget that feeling. Truly magical.

Yep, I dusted off the Wii U to grab zero mission from the eshop, and was also amazed at how many titles are sitting there in the VC. If only the VC was brought to Switch ... I just don't get why they are not doing it. Literally leaving money on the table.

Last night i started playing Mario Sunshine on the TV, then my flat mate comes home and wanted to watch Netflix, so I picked the switch up and continued playing on the couch. This was the same in the Wii U era and I have got so used to being able to do this so seamlessly that I honestly don't know how I would cope without it!!! Patcher is sooo wrong (at least in my experience)!!!

@sanderev Even if something does happen between m$ and Nintendo, there's no way Nintendo are putting 1st party games on a more powerful xbox, at least when they're still selling their own hardware. Literal suicide!

Never played any of these games and certainly haven’t got a spare 200 hours. Sounds like BL2 is the one to go for. Would I lose anything by jumping straight into BL2 and skipping the original? Or do ya recommend playing the first one?

A huge backlog of unplayed games is an absolute understatement. I’ve got at least 10 to get through, including Fire Emblem which I’ve only put 5 hours into. Just couldn’t get into the game but when this animal crossing addiction dies off again I’ll be diving head first back into three houses

Square remade the Secret of Mana for Playstation. Is switch getting this port as well? Seems odd to give us Trials of Mana remastered and not Secret of Master remastered ...

Jeez Louise! I forgot Watch Dogs came to Wii U! Star Fox Zero with traditional controls would be sweet. Was a great game but the insistence on the duel screen thing ruined it. Super Mario 3D World is an obvious one. Just a matter of time really

Would much rather GTA5!

Seriously don’t get the goose game obsession. I played it and finished it. It’s alright. It’s good enough. It’s funny. Is it a top 10 game of the year? No chance. Should it be the reason a title like Fire Emblem misses out on the top 10?! A scandalous thought!! Who cares really, it’s just a list. But it’s not just this site there seems to unanimous praise for this game. Good for the indie community and all but let’s not get carried away!

This is pointless. However it has got me thinking. I have about 10 N64 memory cards and I can never remember which game is stored where. Nowadays memory is cheap, so imagine such an addon that acted as storage space as an alternative to using the N64 memory cards. now that’s an idea ...

@BlueBlur101 I kind of agree with you - I’ve never really got this either. I guess playing in the role of Link for an epic adventure that takes like 100 - 200 hours or whatever to get through somehow warrants the genre tag? Despite the name, RPGs traditionally focus on gameplay where you constantly level up, which there isn’t too much of in BOTW. I’d class it more of an adventure game. After all, playing for 200 hours as Arthur Morgan in RDR2 doesn’t class that as an RPG does it. Weird!
