Re: Review: Superhot - Super Fun, Sort Of Brief

gordjscott

I got the chance to play this in VR (Oculus I believe) and having to literally duck and limbo to avoid the bullets really made this shine.
I can imagine it's still good in non-VR, but I'd vastly recommend the former option if you ever get the opportunity.

Re: Review: Deponia - An Amusing Graphic Adventure Which Is Totally Overpriced On Switch

gordjscott

I absolutely love this series, very similar in style to the third MI.
But yes, the price here is utterly ridiculous, especially considering you can often get all 4 games for mere buttons in the Steam sales.
A genre better played with a mouse anyway imo.

It's hard to judge whether price should really be commented on in a review, but I feel that this instance deserves notice.

EDIT: I paid full price for this back in the day on PC, and I'm pretty damn sure it cost nowhere near this.
It also launched on PS4 within the last few months at a much lower price.
I agree with the point of it being a brand new game for the system, but the price should at least be in line with other recent variants.

Re: Feature: Why Pokémon: Let's Go Is The Perfect Entry Point For Pokémon GO Players

gordjscott

I'm a longtime player of the series, and I'm very much looking forward to these games.
Solely because I'm the kind of person who likes to have a variety of fun.

EDIT: Maybe it isn't the mainline series games that are daunting to new players, but rather the 'fans' that will belittle anything Pokémon related that is less than a max IV shiny Arceus.
I've spent years avoiding tournaments and the like because I've always found the fanbase my age to be majorly toxic.

Re: Over 1,000 Developers Want To Bring Games To Switch Using GameMaker Studio 2 Engine

gordjscott

1000+ developers have registered interest.
That doesn't mean 1000+ shovelware titles will suddenly appear on Switch.

Anyway, there are a lot of credible indie games made using GM2.
Examples already on/coming to the eShop, or generally well received are:
Undertale, Minit, Hyper Light Drifter, Hotline Miami, Gunpoint, Risk Of Rain, Uncanny Valley, Home, Nidhogg, Rivals Of Aether, Downwell etc.

Re: Nintendo Download: 9th August (Europe)

gordjscott

I know they weren't added today, but today is the last day they are on sale...
Resident Evil Rev 1 & 2. Apparently there is a discount normally when you buy one when you already own the other.
Does this stack with the Summer Sale price? Hopefully someone can verify.

Re: Paranautical Activity Is Bringing Old-School FPS Action To Switch Next Week

gordjscott

Many years ago, I wrote for a site where another writer reviewed the Steam copy of the game, giving it a poor score.
The developer then started to personally attack people in the review comment section.
This was not too long before the infamous threat to Gabe Newell.
Because of this, I've never bothered to attempt to try this game, and I'll quite happily continue to pass on it.

Re: Review: KORG Gadget (Switch eShop)

gordjscott

@Koudai1979 You could do that too, but the audio wouldn't be of the best quality sadly.
Not to the standards you'd wish for with studio work I mean.
If you just wanted to take a quick recording off for demo purposes, it'd suffice though.

Re: Review: KORG Gadget (Switch eShop)

gordjscott

@shani I'm not lazy, as it isn't a matter of time involved. I'm sure you are aware that recording through the headphone port will never give as clean, quality results as an in-DAW export.
Thanks for the attempt to insult a fellow user though. It was appreciated.

Re: Review: KORG Gadget (Switch eShop)

gordjscott

As a simple DAW, it's excellent.
The lack of any means of exporting audio or even MIDI is baffling though.
I've taken to using 3.5 stereo jack to twin mono 1/4 inch just to get my ideas onto PC through an interface, but obviously that's just ridiculous lengths to go to.

Re: Praise The Sun, We're Getting A Dark Souls Solaire Amiibo

gordjscott

@rjejr The pose is merely a cosmetic thing, just for greeting other players mid-game. The poses are generally available already in the game, though I'm unsure if the player was able to do 'praise the sun' in the original DS1. Hopefully someone will clarify.

So, yeah, it's pretty much to sell the amiibo on the attraction of the physical model alone.

Re: Switch Surpasses Wii U Lifetime Sales in UK, But Its Dominance Isn't As Strong As Elsewhere

gordjscott

Nintendo have never particularly had a strong retail presence here in Scotland.
A good indicator for me that the Switch has been doing well is that the likes of Asda and Tesco (general supermarkets) now have permanent Nintendo sections at their media aisle, which I haven't seen since very early in the Wii's lifespan, pre-shovelware outbreak.
I also personally know more people who own a Switch than who own an Xbox One, which pleases me to no end.

Re: Review: Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon (3DS)

gordjscott

@UmbreonsPapa To be fair, it is correct that it has never been officially stated that these would be the final main series games for 3DS.
However, it has also never been officially stated that Matt Damon isn't a space bagel from Xenatron-7. We're just assuming that isn't the case.
