Digerati has announced that Paranautical Activity is headed to the Nintendo Switch, releasing next week on 26th June.
The game is an arena-based FPS that mixes old-school shooter action with a roguelite twist, featuring a graphical style reminiscent of Minecraft and a pulsating dubstep soundtrack. The game had a rather controversial launch back in 2014 on Steam, but has since found more stable footing, actually releasing on Wii U a couple of years ago.
Key Features:
- Unique FPS/Roguelite combination
- Procedurally generated levels
- Insanely fast gameplay
- Hidden levels
- Over 100 items
- 40+ enemies
- Ridiculous bosses
- Kick-ass dub-step soundtrack
Players in Europe can pre-order Paranautical Activity now from the Nintendo Switch eShop to grab themselves a 20% discount on the launch price, taking the game from £7.19 to £5.75. Pricing in other regions is still to be confirmed.
Did you play this on Wii U? Will you be taking advantage of the pre-order discount? Let us know if you're interested in the game with a comment below.

Looks too dark and the logo is exceptionally ugly. Like the stuff I've been drawing 10 years or so ago.
Also there's nothing unique about mixing Roguelite and FPS anymore.
It looks like an Unreal Tournament mode for Minecraft.
Game is hugely flawed, i played it on PS$ long ago. Unless it's almost free i'd say avoid.
@Steel76 100000000000000% agreed. Just make some normal games. It's boring and now completely done to death.
Roguelite + Procedurally generated levels?
I was interested until I saw that. Two gaming fads I am really not a fan of.
Roguelite means, we can't be bothered to create a proper map, make the computer make it.
It's just laziness.
Also I think the pixelated graphics thing has been done now.
When I see something like that, I realize how bad Nintendo handle indies on the Switch.
You can hear, here and there, that the Switch has more than 700 games blablabla and guess what... the catalogue is full of stuffs like that thing...
Basically, you have 3 real big exclusives, 100s of ports(wiiU/3DS/PS3/PS4/X360/ONE/PC) and 600 indies (some really good but a vast majority of crappy stuffs).
So Nintendo should be more selective with indies because in the collective consciousness, Switch starts to be assimilate to a place where anybody can throw his poo there...
At least if all those indies will be drown in a massive catalogue of exclusives 1st and 2nd party, ok then.
Sadly it's not the case...
Voxel graphic style, rogue lite, "arena fps like" (it's not), procedurally generated levels
Not for me
Hahahaha @ that 'Kick-ass dub-step soundtrack'
Terrible.
@YANDMAN I agree with you both.
Immortal Redneck is way better than this crap !
I liked this game. I would probably pass unless it had multiplayer. That would sell me.
Many years ago, I wrote for a site where another writer reviewed the Steam copy of the game, giving it a poor score.
The developer then started to personally attack people in the review comment section.
This was not too long before the infamous threat to Gabe Newell.
Because of this, I've never bothered to attempt to try this game, and I'll quite happily continue to pass on it.
Hopefully, they'll avoid issuing death threats against Nintendo.
(Yes, I know the game has since been handed off to another developer.)
