Re: Arcade Archives Rod Land

I can put up with missing sound effects (boom) but the slowdown in Rod•Land on Switch 2 is insane. Watch the flashing 2P text. It's there on Switch/PS5, though less noticeable. This is the first Arcade Archives game I've bought. Not a great first impression. Requested a refund.aI can put up with missing sound effects (boom) but the slowdown in Rod•Land on Switch 2 is insane. Watch the flashing 2P text. Re: 1994 Classic 'Little Big Adventure' Is Getting A Full Remake, Out This Year

I played the PC version of this back in the day. I have been following the remasters of 1&2 since they were announced a few years ago, at the same time that a reboot was announced (which looked awful, went nowhere, and was cancelled before or even began).

The lack of focus and tumultuous journey so far on these games leaves me uncertain what is or isn't being released, and in what form. Here's the blog post where they acknowledge the problem and try to explain what they're making: https://www.littlebigadventure.com/en/reboot-remaster-or-remake-the-answer/

Consider me cautiously interested.

Re: Review: Endless Ocean: Luminous (Switch) - A Meditative Marine Milieu, But Incredibly Shallow

It's disappointing to see such misinformation in the article the "collect 2000 fish" goal, and bogus fish names. I guess it's trying to poke fun at the game? As @Sraosha says this is a pretty important point to make clear and not cause confusion. You know, the sort of thing a review should excel at.

It's also surprising that there's such clamour for realistic games, and then as soon as a realistic games comes along it's panned ...for not being unreal enough.

This game was originally a Playdate launch title but is now multi-platform. It's a really great arcade-style high score chaser.

Re: Review: Dordogne - A Watercolour Wonder, Imperfect Yet Touching

I've been watching this game since 2018 when I saw a tweet about it from even earlier: 2016. https://twitter.com/cedric_babouche/status/782687182700023812

That's around 7 years to make it a reality!

Total respect for Cedric for securing funding, building a team, and seeing his vision through to the end.

It's one thing to look at a game and make a snap decision about it, or play it for a bit and do the same, but it's another thing completely to understand the sheer amount of time and effort that goes into creating a game like this (or any game really). Bravo.

(had to get some French in there)

Re: Soapbox: Playdate Sold Out In 20 Minutes - Is It Time For A New Nintendo Handheld?

gingerbeardman

@Chocobo_Shepherd Playdate can also display to a monitor

@Amsterdamsters curious if any scalped units will sell when it's still possible to buy one directly from the source

@Spiders @dimi already has GB emulator https://twitter.com/dmierau/status/1280953878091952128?s=21

@Spider it has a software option to flip the screen for left handed players. Not ideal but a concession at least.

@KateGray misleading to say this is sold out.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl #79 - Kuru Kuru Kururin

@Jayenkai Eighting's Kururin was the reason I bought a GBA and Mitchell's Polarium was the reason I bought a DS (though Polarium GBA, released later, is a better game IMHO).

I played through Polarium GBA a handful of years ago. And I played through both GG BA Kururin games on a Greek beach half a lifetime ago. The 2nd Kururin is even better, of you can deal with the Japanese text.
