@FLUX_CAPACITOR You're misunderstanding my point, I absolutely adore Zelda so I'm not sagging them for taking their time with it. They came out and practically guaranteed it was coming out this year at the game awards and now are quietly retracting that. I would rather they make the best game possible and not rush it out. Nintendo is having an image problem and a software drought and this hurts both. They've been working on Zelda since 2011 and Zelda typically lands in November. So this has effectively pushed the Wii U title to November 2016. The can't release it outside of the holiday window, at least I can't recall the last time a console Zelda did. The only way they can save face with this is by announcing quite a few releases for 2015 at E3. I love Nintendo, see screen name, and I know that delaying the game will only make it ether in the long run. In the short term though, this makes Nintendo look bad, like quite bad. The Wii U has a hard enough time with software droughts. As for my comment on hiring more staff, I stand by it. Nintendo really should use some of the bank roll to increase the studios and team sizes. More staff and studios would mean more games in development, thus more games come to Wii U and less software droughts.
How about you use your billions in the bank and hire enough staff to get this our the door. Missing Holiday 2015 is a huge mistake and will only further degrade the Nintendo brand name.
"Splatoon is to shooters what Mariokart is to racers" is a great quote, the shooter genre has become stale. Too many games look and play almost exactly like each other, CoD releasing every year with minimal changes hasn't helped matters. I'm really forward to this games and I hope it becomes the phenomenon it deserve to be.
I'd actually like to see a Zelda game where you can choose between playing as Link or Zelda. Either at a character select screen or on the fly, this "save the Princess" is an old trope by now. Zelda kicks but in Smash so why not in the main series? On a side note I'd also like to see Princess Peach in a similar role, Super Princess Peach did a decent job but they should have went even harder. Maybe kept the Mario powerups instead creating those silly one. Girls and hearts I get it but why can't girls kick some but too. Samus Aran has been kicking but for years...
MewTwo is easily my favourite Smash character, Lucario just isn't the same. Can't decide between Little Mac and Lucina for my favourite new character though...
I can't believe how many comments are "Nintendo needs to do what I want, not what they want." I don't understand this generation, Nintendo isn't perfect by any means but they're the only company that continually attempts to disrupt the industry and create new standards. Ps3/4 XB1/360 is more of the same. I will eventually purchase ps4 and XB1 but the games they have are not the ones I wish to play. Prettier graphics and more polygons hasn't impressed me since the Gamecube era. Good gameplay has always been the most important factor to me and Nintendo brings it consistently. Watching movies for games and over used QTE have become standard and they bore the heck out of me. If I want to watch a movie I'll put an actual movie on. That doesn't mean that I'm opposed to story in games, the Last of Us had the most amazing story of any videos game. I didn't enjoy the game play and controls, forcing me to play right handed shooting controls is a pet peeve of mine. Before anyone wants to comment about it, try playing CoD with the opposite handed controls and the comment. One final thing, whatever happened to "if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all." I can't believe the amount of negativity I read online, constructive criticism is quite rare. Usually you're reading some insult about how you're an idiot for liking Nintendo or Sony or Microsoft. Gamers as a whole need to grow up already
I'm all for new ways to play, I just need Nintendo to prove their new concept and go all in. I love my Wii U but it's concept has still yet to be proven...
Excellent interview, isn't it just ridiculous that a video game can chop off a little boys head or have simulated sexton with a hooked but god forbid we have a game that talks about the birds and the bees...
@Nintendian Do you remember what happened to Sega when they kept rushing out new hardware? 32X, CD, Saturn and Dreamcast? They lost all consumer confidence and went under.
@Grumblevolcano I'd love Nintendo do to give F-Zero GX/AX the remake treatment akin to Wind Wake. With the implementation of online and leader boards, ghosts, I think that would allow Nintendo a good gauge of the market. Plus that game was possible the best, most difficult racer ever built.
I'd personally love a remake of both Super Metroid and Metroid 2 both given the zero mission treatment with expanded content and updated graphics. That being said, Metroid Dread would be amazing. I picture it as 2D Metroid with a Dead Space vibe.
I never got into this, I bought Tri and tried to like it but never played online or enough to really get into it. Plus dying all the time wasn't exciting, but the way this one is better for beginners I may get into it.
Really enjoyed the first one, looking forward t ok this release. Now if only Square would make a proper remake to ff7 with the lessons learn from BD. FF7 with fast forward through battles and encounter rate changes would be sweet.
"Nintendo is doomed!" Troll, troll, troll "They should make games on iOS/PS4/XBone! " troll, troll, troll "Iwata should step down!" troll, troll, troll
Sega Genesis was great, Saturn not so much but I thought Dreamcast was revolutionary, alas it was ahead of it's time though. SEGA ' S biggest mistake was repeated hardware launches, Genesis followed by 32X and SEGA CD, Saturn and Dreamcast all launch much to close or often. Nintendo is starting to launch too many portables, 3ds, xl, 2ds and now the new 3ds. I thought Wii U was a bad name but new 3DS is just ridiculous. I love Nintendo and want them to do well but this Co fusion created by these names just isn't helping them at all. Wii U is my favourite console of this generation but people are flocking to XBONE and PS4 because they believe they will find the games they want there. Wii U certainly has a better current lineup and even this year is looking good but there is too much uncertainty for Joe Blow to purchase one. Nintendo needs to unify other their account system and their messaging. I don't want Nintendo games on tablets but a proper Pokedex that interacts with the games, a Wii fit U app, integration with their games or mid verse apps are all welcome. Nintendo isn't going bankrupt anytime soon but it would be nice for them to catch up to the rest of the competition. Voice chat while gaming with friends, online leader boards and account unification are top of the list in my opinion.
@ryanrybot Underground hasn't been released yet as far as I know. It was suppose to release for PC last summer. With this news and a lack of news from Underground it does make you wonder if Underground is even coming at all now.
