Like @UltimateOtaku91 says, it's a very different matter to make a a game guaranteed to sell millions than one trying to find a minority audience. That minority , together, will have to pay for the full price of development. The same applies to lots of different "limited edition" products. It's tricky, but it is what it is. Production costs must be covered somehow (if you're lucky).
As far as I'm aware, the drifting issue only affected the first generation of Joy-Con and never or rarely Joy-Con produced from 2019 onwards. So I don't see it happening to the Joy-Con 2 anytime soon.
But of course you can't sell a replacement without creating some unfounded panic!
@WilloftheFans That's true especially for RPGs and certain other games. Personally I'm very much in favour of smaller games - I don't need to be playing the same old thing for hundreds of hours. But then it's my choice to buy smaller indie games instead. AAAs today are huge -and therefore expensive- whether we like it or not.
Initially, I was just as shocked by the game prices as everybody else.
But, on second thought, games have cost 60 € for a decade or two, and they have 10 or 50 times the amount of content (and pixels) they used to, so... I guess it makes sense.
Most of these remakes and resurrections seem to be full of flashy effects that make it nearly impossible to focus on the gameplay. At least judging by the trailers - I find that so off-putting I never really try the games myself. Are they really as bad as they make them look? Can the effects be disabled at least? I’d be up for some brick-breaking!!
Unrelated, but I'm playing (and thoroughly enjoying) The Great Ace Attorney 2 (within Chronicles) and I'm flipping out that the game is PEGI 12, but USK 6! I mean, it's all about murders and corpses everywhere, graphics included. Every other piece of evidence has blood stains. There's a weird coroner who wants to dissect you alive for fun. I wouldn't want to leave this game anywhere near a 6 year old, German or otherwise...
Each game used to come with what, 100 points? So you needed to buy 150 original games for the freaking statue? I’m sick of people singing the praises of the old Club when the fact is that their prices in points were outrageous. You needed to buy like 20 games before you could get a keyring. With the new system, every single reward is accessible to anybody, and for silver points that you get for free. So what’s to complain about?!
The nitty gritty details in the article are not what matters here. The point is that these IPs are now known and enjoyed my many more people than 7-10 years ago, so that’s a much bigger fanbase, looking into the future.
Finally someone says it! I’m happy with 60 fps for more modern things (sci-fi, racing…), but I find it jarring in retro experiences (medieval fantasy like Game of Thrones, lovecraftian 1920s horror, or even Hogwarts Legacy). I’m in a generation that grew up with 24 or 30 fps and that’s what looks cinematic to me.
I put so many hours into this with friends! One of my favourite things was creating our own libraries of voices and SFX, sadly that won't be an option on consoles!
I loved this back in the day, played it a lot on PC. I wonder how it stands the test of time, but I'm definitely happy to see it back, and curious to take it for a spin!
Isn’t this list physical only? I have the impression that the physical distribution of Emio hasn’t been very widespread, it seems to be unavailable in various stores, including Nintendo’s. It must be selling more digitally (unlike, say, Bluey, which is typical mall fodder).

@bloody_velvet Weren’t those the colors that released with Super Mario Party? 🤔 And that game is from 2018…

“a sensible approach to pricing” is not a thing in Europe. Like, there’s laws AGAINST that. It’s called a free market, buddy.
