Re: Humble Bundle Will Begin To Cap Charity Donations Next Month

davidevoid

Obviously it'd be nice if they could keep it completely open to the buyer to split the payment across all three but let's be honest, the people who should be getting paid are the developers/publishers, then charities and then Humble Bundle. I wouldn't be surprised if they're doing this because of feedback they've recieved from developers.

Re: Introducing The SNES-Themed New Nintendo 3DS XL

Been wanting to upgrade from old XL to 'new' XL for a while, this could tip me over... if I had the money and wouldn't sell out almost instantly! This'll be on Nintendo's website for an hour before being completely selling out, I can see it already.

Very very happy to see Luigi's Mansion 2 and Kirby Triple Deluxe getting the Selects treatment, hopefully Smash for 3DS will go that way too (fingers crossed - aka broke!)

@thesilverbrick Although it's difficult its actually not that off putting and it's pretty easy to jump into and have fun with. I definitely know that feeling though!

@xxAcesHighxx just out of curiosity do you own the game? I do, and I think it's great! But simply because it has randomly generated stages doesn't mean it is endlessly replayable. The gameplay falls into a very specific routine rather quickly and the only thing that ends up changing with each playthrough is how the player actually plays the game (do they take it slow and try and progress through a higher number of stages or go quickly in order to get a high score).

Everyone's perception of worth or value:money is different though, I just know that although I love these kind of games I would rather put £9 towards something with more variety or length. Pricing is a tricky thing to balance, the potential being that if its too high no-one even bothers to give your game a try. I think a lower price would be far more enticing although I know new Switch owners are willing to gobble anything up at the moment!

The game is usually £6.99 on Steam but is on sale a fair amount (you can get it there for £2.09 right now!).

GoNNER is a great game but I personally wouldn't pay £8.99 for it. Whilst a lovely game and designed perfectly there isn't tons and tons to it and it's not likely to last most players more than 3 hours. If it ever goes down to around £4 I'd say it's an absolute instant buy.

Re: Review: Fullblox (3DS eShop)

Two years later and I have to admit I was wrong, this is a great game! Definitely up there with the first game yet it adds a lot of different mechanics that keep it fresh. A very solid 8/10 from me.

Has anyone tried this on the 'New' 3DS? Curious as to whether this sorts out the framerate issues.

Re: GoNNER Brings Procedurally-Generated Mayhem To The Switch eShop On 1st June

I love GoNNER. There is this tension of how fast you should play. If you play fast you earn points quicker but miss out on items and secrets plus you are more likely to make a mistake somewhere. Or you can be methodical and try and make it through as many stages as possible but in the end finish up with a low score. I really enjoyed the art style and the way the music and sound effects work along with your gameplay style and the game can become quite addictive. Only downside is that you are basically doing the same thing over and over, and for a long time you'll be seeing the same things again and again. It's similar to Downwell in this sense, there is always a sense that you're not seeing all the game has to offer (because it's so difficult to get far!).

Re: Review: 3D Thunder Blade (3DS eShop)

I personally agree with the review. I put a couple hours into it when it was released on the eShop and didn't really enjoy it then and have given it another shot on the Sega 3D Classics Collection and I still feel it's simply not that fun to play.

I feel the gameplay is frustrating as you helicopter is always blocking the view, it's the same with After Burner but that gets away with it through having clear visuals and making up for it in other areas (like the thrill of it all!). Here, I feel like I'm having to just speed through as quickly as possible, simply moving around the screen and hoping for the best. It's nice to go back to for 5 mins every now and then but when all is said and done I'd much rather be playing almost any other M2 3D Classics game; Super Hang-On and Fantasy Zone II W being personal favourites.

Re: Yes, You Can Charge Your Nintendo Switch In Tabletop Mode

I'd probably use one of those stands anyway. The Kid Icarus stand comes in handy with my 3DS XL, just takes the weight away completely and makes the 3D way more stable through minimising potential movement.

I'll pick up a stand when I eventually pick up a Switch in a year or so!

Re: Poll: What Did You Think of the Nintendo Switch Presentation?

davidevoid

No showing of online services such as eShop and Virtual Console was a big misstep to me personally. Plus no captivating launch games (aside from Zelda of course). However they really communicated the JoyCon well in the presentation and I'm really excited by the motion control, sensor and 'HD' rumble of the controllers.

Mario Odyssey left a bitter taste in my mouth, I'm sure it'll be great but the sight of Mario running around a city inhabited by humans just brings back memories of Sonic '06...
