If you're a hardcore Super Smash Bros. Ultimate player, then chances are you swear by the GameCube controller. Many fans of the series consider it to be the best interface for the game, and this has led to incredibly high levels of demand for the official option released by Nintendo itself some time ago (along with the all-important controller adapter, of course).
The thing is, stock of this particular pad has been restricted for ages; it's been unavailable from Nintendo's UK store for well over a year, and this has caused prices on the secondary market to balloon dramatically, with some pad-and-adapter combos selling for well over £100.
The good news is that Nintendo's store is now showing that the pad will be coming back into stock early next year. You can pre-order one for £24.99 right now. Will you be taking the plunge? Let us know with a comment.

might pick up a another one for my gamecube
Thank you so much for drawing attention to this!
I love the GC controllers but my original one is definitely needing replacing as the dead zone has widened up too much - which makes playing my favourite games like F-Zero GX and Killer7 impossible.
I've been stockpiling official GameCube controllers this year - gone from having 2 to about 10, so I don't really need this anymore (if they'd done this 6 months ago I might have bought a stack though), but if they do a white one then I'll have it.
But will they also re-release the adapter?
If the this new one is more quiet, doesn't have loud trigger clacking, I'd get it. (probably wishful thinking)
Done and done. And I mean done.
@Spanjard
They have done. It comes up as a suggestion when selecting the controller.
Hopefully it comes to the states cause an old GameCube controller I had broke..... And I wanna but like 4 new ones haha
Thanks, homie. I pre-ordered two from Amazon last year the first day it was available. The first one delivered, but the second got canceled due to unavailability. Crazy.
I love that controller 😍
If only they'd add an extra shoulder button in these new releases, I'd buy at least 2 new ones to use as pro controllers
It's not crazy to have 9 functioning GC controller.. is it?
Can i pre-order it of i live outside the UK? They wont let me add my actual shipping adress..
Dang. I just got done buying an overpriced Japanese import a few days ago.
This is cool for people who want a new Gamecube controller, but I never bothered getting one as I have a few old original Gamecube controllers sitting around. From what I have seen the originals are still the best, but these later ones probably have a longer cord.
@gcunit Me too man, I bought three within the last few weeks. Got a brand new one and a lightly used one on sale for 85 bucks
lol i read this with the Smash Bros. announcer in my head shouting "RESTOCK!!" like he does during a Team Battle match XD
Was just checking them the other day. I had no idea they ballooned in price so much! I would have bought a set of 4 instead of just 1 when they first came out!
Since I haven't buy one of these, I have a question that may sound silly. Does it comes with the (edit) adapter to play them on Switch or does one have to buy them separately?
@Diddy64 That's not a silly question
You have to buy the adapter separately I'm afraid.
I live in Canada, anyone know if I'll be able to order locally too?
I'd like a new GameCube controller so will be looking out for one next year. The adapter I'm using was the one Nintendo released for the Wii U.
@Spanjard they're rereleasing the adapter in japan and you can ship internationally from amazon
@Elvie first place I always check for Japanese imports is Amazon Japan. You get local prices (with Amazon's usual discounts applied) and they often offer international shipping (they actually deduct sales tax for international orders so you're paying below retail price + better shipping than resellers and tenso offer). They've had 2020 restock orders up for a couple of months now.
I really hope they stock up on them this time around. I might even go for two of them myself.
I prefer the switch pro controller for smash. Although I think the right stick sensitivity needs to be a little higher.
@wazlon Thanks for answering. Looking forward to buy one or two controllers and the adapter sometime in 2020.
@KitChan Thanks for the information.
