Re: Square Enix Shows Off Chrono Cross Remaster Comparison Screenshots

@Pungu @Specter_of-the_OLED @AlexanderDaniels @Expa0
For those of yall concerned about the OST, it's not as bad as it's being made out to be. Mitsuda himself said that the "new" OST in this game is simply a cleaned-up version of the original. He said he was happy with the original music so he didn't change it, just rebuilt it from the original, uncompressed source files. The new music people are hearing lately and are concerned about are additional tracks he arranged which he said aren't part of gameplay but are available separately. The music that's in the actual game will be the original OST but cleaner, that's probably why there won't be a toggle. We have nothing to worry about.

Re: Feature: 30 Years Of Sonic The Hedgehog - The Many Faces Of Mario's Biggest Rival

I'm so, so, so, SO glad to see someone other than me prefers Adventure over Adventure 2. I always see a lot of love for SA2 (which is great to see), but it's usually paired up with the take of it being so much better than SA1, which I just can't get behind. Much more polish, yes, but I didn't enjoy the gameplay or level design nearly as much, and I was really disappointed they dropped the open areas between stages. The story of SA1 somehow felt more alive with the ability to explore the city and the ruins and such. SA1 was rough, but you could feel the love and the ambition of Sonic Team, like Naka and everyone just poured their souls into it.
Then the next game was a commercial for Soap shoes.

Re: Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection Includes Sigma Editions Because The Originals Were Unsalvageable

@Rosona @NintendoByNature The Sigma games were made easier (NG 1&2 were hailed for being old-school hard before Dark Souls made it cool), they added new characters and altered the stories to fit them, and the thing a lot of NG fans in the forums are talking about: they removed dismemberment and blood. So rather than slicing heads and arms off of demons and stuff, you just slash away at them until they fall. The context-sensitive dismemberment and accompanying blood fountains were one of the more notable visual features of the originals, and really made the games feel like crazy old samurai movies. And they removed it for the PS versions. There were other changes as well but these were the biggies.

NGB and NG2 were awesome. The non-Itagaki games (Sigma 1&2 and NG3) definitely suffered without him.

Re: Scott Pilgrim Vs The World: The Game Gets A Physical Release And Two Limited Editions

@Thwomp_Stomper I went to a midnight premiere to the movie, and it released the same night as The Expendables. So they set up two lines, and it was the nerds/gamers in one and the jocks/dudebros in the other and the two lines were razzing each other the whole time. And when the 16-bit Universal logo popped up, the entire theater ROARED. One of the best movie experiences I've ever had.

Man, I miss theaters.

Re: Poll: Do You Play Your Switch More In Docked Or Handheld Mode?

chocolate_supra

I can't be comfortable gaming in a handheld position for more than a few minutes, so I'm docked all the way. But I have a friend who doesn't have a tv and wants to play retro games, and we can BOTH play the same stuff, so I appreciate that Nintendo gives us the option. Also there are some fantastic games that likely would've stayed on handhelds if Nintendo hadn't tied the two playstyles together.

Re: Rodea The Sky Soldier Is Being Removed From The Wii U And 3DS eShops In Japan

@HotGoomba The game was ported to WiiU by a 3rd party, which is not uncommon, but when they ported it they made a ton of changes to the game without the consent of the creator. They completely changed level layouts, changed the power-up system, changed the speed at which the character moves, all sorts of stuff. And to add insult to injury, the Wii release (with the build Yuji Naka intended) was scrapped in favor of the port. Naka convinced them to package the original Wii game with the WiiU release (as it was done already and he hated the changes made in the port) then went on social media when the game came out and asked fans to make sure they played the Wii version INSTEAD of the WiiU version.

It was a messy situation. The Wii version was fun, though. Like free-roam NiGHTS.
