Gamecube was definitely one of the greatest nintendo consoles. It still surprises me how a console with such a great selection of games sold so poorly.
@BlackenedHalo You should give Daggerfall Unity a try. It's free, legal, and totally awesome, especially with mods. It's basically Elder Scrolls 2 ported into Unity Engine, with much better graphics, controls and less bugs.
Fun Fact: Daggerfall was an inspiration for Minecraft!
I honestly don't have a problem with Switch having a longer life cycle. I'm actually perfectly fine with the current Switch graphics, so a Switch pro does not seem interesting to me.
However, I think Nintendo should try to bring more AAA Third Parties to the Switch. It's a shame the Switch is missing out games like Red Dead Redemption 2 or Sekiro.
@BlackenedHalo The Switch is ALWAYS going to be subpar compared to PS/Xbox for the simple reason that it's a handheld. Even a Switch Pro won't change that.
They should really change Samus Arans design. Currently there are 3 major Nintendo characters that look almost the same: Peach, Zelda and Samus are all the same typical model blondes. How about making a character look asian?
@Friendly I played them decades ago, so I don't have a clear memory how they originally looked, but seeing characters without shadows in 2021 is really awkward. This is supposed to be a remaster.
Interesting, the japanese version of Zelda II has many differences. For example you can choose after level-up which attribute you want to improve. So you can e.g. play the game with a low-HP but High-Mana strategy
@Duffman92 Just because a flaw has been present in earlier Mario games doesn't mean that it's OK to remain in new games. Video games have developed a lot since Mario 64 and Sunshine. Also, the Worlds in Mario Odyssey were not "fleshed out" at all. Worlds like Hat Kingdom, Cloud Kingdom, Dark side (and others) were tiny and lacking in content.
And earlier Mario Games had a much better difficulty curve than odyssey, I've recently replayed the old games on NSO and they had a much steadier and more satisfying difficulty curve.
Such an overrated game. The difficulty stays very low, even in most of the post-game, and the worlds are disappointingly small. I hope the next Mario game will be more ambitious.
A bit off-topic, but did they actually fix the bad performance in Darksiders II? I'm interested in the game but afraid of performance problems at launch.
This is long overdue, and they should port GTA IV and V as well. These are old and wildly popular last-gen games, they should run well on switch and find a large audience, I don't understand the decision to not port them.
I'm not gonna get this now as the selection of games is a bit small and I've already played most of them. It would be interesting if they added more hidden gems, like Ogre Battle and Goemon.
Paying extra money for this seems weird, given that the default service is already lacking.
Also, having Genesis games in there could confuse a lot of people, who don't realise that the much bigger and cheaper Genesis Collection already exists on Switch.
Many of the Genesis games are also free on mobile.

Re: Watch: This Is What Grand Theft Auto Definitive Trilogy Looks Like On Switch
I honestly like the look of this. It looks very nostalgic, without being ugly, hehe.
Re: Skyrim Anniversary Edition Now Available On "All Platforms", Fibs Bethesda
@Jeronan Oh, I see. I guess Skyrim is one of those games that is simply not made for console, since mods are such a big part of the experience.
Re: Skyrim Anniversary Edition Now Available On "All Platforms", Fibs Bethesda
I find it so disappointing that the Switch version has no mod support, despite the high price tag.
Maybe they will add Mods to switch for the anniversary?
Re: Cryptic Tweet From Minecraft Developer Hints At 1.18 Update Coming Soon
I hope they will add a higher difficulty at some point.
Re: Nintendo Uploads New Big Brain Academy Switch Overview Trailer
Looks like a cheap free-to-play mobile game so far, I think 30$ is still too much for this.
The same is true for Brain Training on Switch which was so lacking in content, I think it should have been only 10€ at most.

Re: Gallery: Rockstar Shares First Screenshots Of The GTA Trilogy For Nintendo Switch
It looks pretty bad, there are no shadows at all! Seriously?
Re: GTA Trilogy's Physical Edition On Switch Appears To Require A Download
Not a great cover, it doesn't represent the content of the games well.
Re: Here Are The Top Ten Best-Selling Nintendo Switch Games As Of September 2021
Animal Crossing, Pokemon and Mario Party don't deserve to be on this list. Where is Mario Maker?

Re: This Zelda II ROM Hack Removes All The Annoying Stuff To Present A Totally New Adventure
Zelda 2 was great as it is. Such an underrated game. I think it's the predecessor of modern Souls-Likes and Metroidvanias.
Re: Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity Version 1.3.0 Is Now Available - Wave 2 DLC, Adjustments, Fixes And More
Will there be a NintendoLife review for the DLC? I think there should, because they same substantial

Re: Review: Metroid Dread - Quite Possibly The Best Metroid Game Ever Made
Does the 12 hour playtime also include the replaying of a section after dying, or is it really the net time, i.e. without repeats due to game over?
Re: Review: Metroid Dread - Quite Possibly The Best Metroid Game Ever Made
@Controller-Drift I agree, 12hours seems too short for an expensive 2D game. But if there is serious replay value or bonus content I may bat an eye.
Re: Review: Metroid Dread - Quite Possibly The Best Metroid Game Ever Made
@anoyonmus The review is already on metacritic, it already contributes to the 88 score.
Re: Review: Metroid Dread - Quite Possibly The Best Metroid Game Ever Made
@anynamereally SO true. I actually think that Animal Crossing: New Horizons deserves a review update, that should be more critical.
Re: Review: Metroid Dread - Quite Possibly The Best Metroid Game Ever Made
I'm sure it's a great game but since Animal Crossing: New Horizons I've become skeptical of overly hyped games with perfect scores.
Re: Dragon Quest X Offline Has Been Confirmed For Switch, Launches In Japan Next February
The graphics look a bit like a mobile game, but I'm always happy about a new Dragon Quest.
Re: Konami Competition Tasks Indie Devs With Reviving Its Classic IP

Re: Bandai Namco Is Changing Its Logo In 2022
Ugh. Speech bubble logos are typically associated with messenger apps. A very misleading logo that does not make sense for a video game company.

A bit off-topic, but did they actually fix the bad performance in Darksiders II? I'm interested in the game but afraid of performance problems at launch.

Re: The Donkey Kong Series Has Surpassed 65 Million Sales Worldwide
They should really make another 3D Donkey Kong. But maybe more linear, like Mario 3D World, instead of the collectathon in DK64.
Re: Review: Darksiders III - A Poor Switch Port Of A Distinctly Average Series Entry
I remember reading that the performance of Darksiders 2 was also problematic at launch. Did they eventually fix this?
Re: Here Are All The Changes Coming To Triangle Strategy Thanks To Player Demo Feedback
I wonder if the "Hard" difficulty is the same difficulty as in the demo or even more difficult. I would love a more hardcore strategy game.
Re: Review: Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania - Feature-Packed, But Far From Top Banana
Wow that's disappointing. I wonder why they had to remake them in Unity. Couldn't they just port a simple remaster?
Re: Video: Metroid Dread TV Commercials Are Coming In Thick And Fast
It makes sense to shoot the ad in a metro, as the game has been literally named after the Metro, due to its underground setting.
Re: Review: Knockout Home Fitness - Too Limited And Lightweight To Be A Contender
I wish there were more quality Motion Control Games on Switch. I think there is still a lot of untapped potential in them.
Re: New Pokémon Legends: Arceus Trailer Reveals Brand New Pokémon, Kleavor
I wonder why this is the first Pokemon that does not have two editions.
Re: Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl Trailer Shows New Pokétch HM App, Poffins And More
So is this just a graphics update of the original, or are there significant new gameplay additions??
Re: New Pokémon Legends: Arceus Trailer Reveals Brand New Pokémon, Kleavor
It doesn't look bad, but given that the last pokemon games were mostly for children I remain sceptical of anything pokemon
Re: Video: We've Actually Played Metroid Dread, Does It Meet Our Expectations?
I'm glad that the first impression is good, but then again, previews tend to be much more optimistic than actual reviews.
Re: Every Nintendo Switch Online N64 Game Ranked
I'm not gonna get this now as the selection of games is a bit small and I've already played most of them. It would be interesting if they added more hidden gems, like Ogre Battle and Goemon.
Re: Rumour: Game Boy And Game Boy Color Games Still Expected For Switch Online
@KingMike They can just use a smaller window size for the GB emulation to simulate a smaller TV, as they did with the SNES games.
Re: Rumour: Game Boy And Game Boy Color Games Still Expected For Switch Online
@Kidfunkadelic83 Dunno, I remember playing GB games on the TV with the Super Gameboy and they looked great.
Re: Rumour: Game Boy And Game Boy Color Games Still Expected For Switch Online
Along with Oracle Zeldas and Pokemon Gen 1 and 2. That would be something.
Re: Record Of Lodoss War: Deedlit In Wonder Labyrinth Is Coming To Switch This Year
This has heavy Castlevania vibes, I like it. Also, nice that such an old anime is still supported by game developers.
Re: The Shadowrun Trilogy Is Coming To Nintendo Switch In 2022
So these are the succesors of the SNES Shadowrun? I've never heard of them but it looks great. They remind me of the early Fallout games.
Re: Blossom Tales Sequel To Be Published By Playtonic Next Year
The owl and the Eagle on top of the tower are practically copied from Link's Awakening, the ocarina is the same as in OOT.
Taking inspiration from Zelda is fine, but they could be more creative with the way they handle the source material.
Re: Blossom Tales Sequel To Be Published By Playtonic Next Year
I mean, I liked the first game and I'm happy that it's getting a sequel...
..but I hoped this would be more original. In fact this seems to copy Zelda even more agressively than the first game.
Re: Feature: Our Verdict On Mario Golf: Super Rush's 3.0 Update, Including New Characters And Courses
So is the game finally worth it for single players?
Re: PlatinumGames' Hideki Kamiya: Bayonetta 3 Will 'Exceed All Your Expectations'
@Old-Red I disagree. Her design is ok, but I think the way the camera zooms on her, or how she loses clothes during attack is definately over the top.
