Re: Random: Pixel Artist Reimagines Zelda II For Game Boy Advance

This made me realize that I really miss GBA-style graphics, lol, I hope there will be an indie revival as with 8-bit graphics.

Also Zelda II is easily the most underrated Zelda game. It's in fact one of the most influential NES games, being an inspiration for modern indie titles like Hollow Knight, Shovel Knight and Infernax.

Re: The Super Mario Bros. Movie Teaser Trailer Is Finally Here

@Azuris I agree, Mario looks weird with that wide face BUT I think it's better that way for the movie. I mean, Pratt's voice is also very unusual for Mario so it makes sense to also change the design a bit.

I think it would feel worse if we had Pratt with the regular Mario design, because the association between that design and Martinets voice is too strong, and breaking that association could be even more off-putting.

@Chunkboi79 Some tracks fit the combat better, other's feel at odds with it (IMO). Of course it's also a matter of taste.
Just saying that for a game that makes so many references to retro Zelda games I would have preferred an OST along these lines. I think the music feels a bit too futuristic for such a game.
But It's not a big deal anyways, I'm just being nitpicky.

Re: Talking Point: Which Zelda Game Should You Play First?

chipia

I really depends on the player:

  • Into challenging games? Take a NES Zelda or an Oracle game
  • Want a game for beginners? Wind Waker or Twilight Princess
  • Into interesting narratives? Majoras Mask
  • Into open world gameplay? BOTW

Zelda is such a diverse franchise, I think it's impossible to represent it with a single game.

Re: Random: This Super Mario Maker 2 Fan Spent Seven Years Crafting 'Super Mario Bros. 5'

@Jeronan Hmm... SMM2 was very similiar to SMM1 at launch, but the updates added lots of new content.
Also most Switch owners never had a Wii U, so they wouldn't notice the similarity (just like with Splatoon 2).

Maybe a problem is the mandatory NSO subscription to play other people's levels. Since that's the main appeal of the game, it becomes almost unplayable without NSO, and I guess many people did not want to pay that.

Re: Stardew Valley Creator Shares Update On Version 1.6 Release

@CodyMKW Which makes me wonder why the developer cannot add official mod support to the Switch version. I mean, some Switch games like Quake already have a limited amount of mods.

The lack of mods is currently the one thing that keeps me from buying the switch version of Stardew Valley.

Re: The Hardest Games On Nintendo Switch

@BabyYoda71 It took me also a long time to beat Darker Side, but I'm not sure if I consider any part of it actually "hard". It's mostly just punishing, because it's long and you have to restart the entire level every time you die.

Re: The Hardest Games On Nintendo Switch

It's a good idea to make such a list as nowadays most games are so easy that it's almost hard to find challenging stuff.

However, the short length of this list only proves in what a poor state modern hardcore gaming is.

Also, Tropical freeze does not belong on this list. The secret levels may be hard, and maybe the monkey boss, but the rest is at best moderate. I found the SNES Donkey Kongs harder.
