@Swizze MK9 would make sense if they make it quite different, for example a Story Mode with RPG ( or even openworld) elements would be nice (think of Diddy Kong Racing or Mario Golf Advance), especially since MK8 lacks single-player content.
@carlos82 If they want to top Mario Kart 8 they should add a Story Mode (maybe like the mission mode in Mario Kart DS ) with Adventure Elements and Singleplayer-Focus.
For the next Mario Kart they should make a Story Mode with RPG and Adventure elements (maybe take cues from Mario Golf Advance, Mario Kart DS and Diddy Kong Racing).
Otherwise there is really no justification to ever make a new Mario Kart game.
It looks and sounds really wonderful. I'm happy that a high profile studio is tackling a traditional Zelda formula at last. In the last years Zelda-likes were mostly resigned to rather unoriginal nostalgic ripoffs.
To me the gameplay seems like an evolved mainline title, although the "Legends" addendum in the name seems to suggest that it's a spin-off.
Maybe they only present it as a spinoff to test the waters with the new formula, and if it's well accepted by the fanbase, "Legends" will be merged into the mainline series.
@nesrocks To be fair, it's mostly cryptic due to the poor english translation. Also, the manual actually contains some very valuable hints to find the last dungeons.
I'm glad they added the overworld, I love the freedom and non-linearity it gives the game.
Fun fact: Ocarina Of Time was originally supposed to be all dungeons as well: In the early stages of development the entire game took place in Ganons Castle with several sub-dungeons. This may explain the design of Ganons Tower in the final game.
The Demo of Ghostrunner was pretty fun, but the lack of gyro controls is really annoying and prevented me from buying the game. I hope they will still patch gyro in.
@oxcar There were actually a surprising lot of adult-targeted games on N64. Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Turok 1-3, Doom, Quake 1+2, Resident evil 2, Starcraft... I know that the common belief back in the day was that N64 has only kids games(which probably impacted sales) but nothing could be further from the truth.
@BloodNinja Yes, but the Theme Parks, Movies and Merchandise are all based on their games and rely on their popularity. When Mario is no longer cool, people won't have any more interest in watching a Mario Movie, so unlike Sony & MS, Nintendo can't fall back on their other products if they fail in gaming.
I'm actually a bit disappointed that this is "just" a traditional Kirby with 3D movement. I think that Kirby what would work well as an Open-World game with RPG elements.
@noobish_hat Funny, whenever Zelda II comes up, there are people who will rant how terrible that game is, yet I've never heard a substantial argument beyond "It's different from other Zeldas" or "it's hard".
Thats EXACTLY my type of game! Zelda II is one of my favorite games, Castlevania II was a bit rough but had a lot of potential with the open-world design and the day-night cycle. I'm really looking forward to this.
It sure will release in 2022. I mean, they've been working on it for 5 years, despite the game taking place in the same world and the same engine as BOTW 1. I don't see why they would need more time for this.
@BTB20 Even if you don't have enough stamina, you can still replenish stamina while climbing by drinking potions. The ingredients for them are ubiquitous from the beginning of the game.
@Venus_Adept Yes, I would have preferred if you have to solve shrines first, to increase your stamina. But Stamina-enhancing food is ubiquitous in the game world, so in the end it's not really necessary. Stamina-orbs are really just for convenience, not a necessity.
@TCF I think the freestyle gameplay in BOTW is overrated, it makes the game too easy and removes the excitement if you can just go and climb everywhere right from the beginning.
Wait, there are patents for gameplay mechanics? Then how come there are so many mario clones (platformers) and doom clones (first person shooters)??
There are even BOTW clones like Immortals Fenix Rising.
How can people seriously vote for Zelda II? It's not just an amazing challenging game, but also one of the MOST IMPORTANT ones in gaming history! It's one of the original metroidvanias and has been cited as an influence on many modern indie masterpieces such as Hollow Knight and Shovel Knight!
Besides that, it's funny how people love Dark Souls, yet cannot accept difficulty in a Zelda game. I actually think that Dark Souls is for the most part more difficult than Zelda 2.
@Clyde_Radcliffe We actually do have Brain Training on the Switch, and it works well with the stylus. It's a disappointing version as it lacks content, but if Nintendo wanted to make more DS-Style games like Trauma Center, it's definitely possible on Switch.
I very much enjoyed this game, although it felt a bit save and by-the-numbers. Also the non-existent difficulty was disappointing, especially given the relatively "adult" presentation.
@Jamie_R Who drew attention to her age? Actually the entire article does not mention once what her age is. Which makes it even weirder to assume that she is a grandma.

Wasn't there a rumour of a Switch-exclusive Resident Evil game??
Re: Capcom Just Started A Countdown Timer, But What's It For?
The rumored Switch-exclusive Resident Evil game!!
Re: Nintendo Reveals The Next Wave Of Salmon Run For Splatoon 3
I don't understand why this is a new game. They've already announced a massive DLC for Mario Kart 8, can't they just do the same with Splatoon 2 ??

It's so disappointing that you still cannot move your character around in Tennis

Re: Japanese Charts: Switch Continues To Dominate In A Largely Unchanged Lineup
Not bad for an almost 5 year old console.

Re: Even Miyamoto Doesn't Like "Stupid" Navi In Zelda: Ocarina Of Time
Disappointed to hear that they made the combat easier. I think the battles in OOT had so much unused potential.
Re: It's Now Been Three Years Since Metroid Prime 4's Development Was Scrapped And Restarted
What I actually wonder is: What were Retro Studios doing all the years before they started working on Metroid Prime 4???
Re: Pokémon Legends: Arceus Is 'Exhilarating' And At Times 'Surprisingly Difficult' According To Japanese Media
The problem is, that the source is Famitsu. Aren't they the ones who gave Sonic Forces a score of 35/40 and Demons Souls only 29/40?
Re: Ghostrunner 'Project_Hel' DLC Delayed To March
@anoyonmus I think they have patched up the performance. You can try the demo, it runs pretty well. Still no gyro controls, unfortunately.
Re: Ghostrunner 'Project_Hel' DLC Delayed To March
The Demo of Ghostrunner was pretty fun, but the lack of gyro controls is really annoying and prevented me from buying the game. I hope they will still patch gyro in.
Re: Zelda-Inspired Adventure 'Airoheart' Could Be A Treat For Fans Of A Link To The Past
Wonder why they made the graphics almost the same as ALTTP, yet the music is nowhere near as good.

Re: Talking Point: How Does Microsoft's Purchase Of Activision Blizzard Impact Nintendo?
I seriously wonder how Sony is going to react to all of this. Are they buying any new studios as well??
Re: Talking Point: How Does Microsoft's Purchase Of Activision Blizzard Impact Nintendo?
I guess Switch won't see Diablo 4. Probably not a big loss.
Re: Feature: 14 Nintendo Switch Ports We'd Still Love To See
@MisterMan What? Witcher 3 and Doom Eternal are Graphically much more demanding games than Dark Souls 3 and they run on Switch.
Re: Feature: 14 Nintendo Switch Ports We'd Still Love To See
I would add the FromSoftware Games to this list. Where is Dark Souls 3 and Sekiro?

Re: Pokémon Legends: Arceus Gets A New Six-Minute Overview Trailer
So is this just an outdoors game? So far they haven't shown any dungeons.
Re: Yes, Saints Row IV Is 93% Off And No, It's Not A Mistake
@Gwynbleidd Most video games are actually "entertainment with button pressing" , so I don't see why Saints Row shouldn't be considered a game
Re: Yes, Saints Row IV Is 93% Off And No, It's Not A Mistake
@Poco_Lypso Are you implying the game is cheap because it's bad? It actually got an 8/10 on NintendoLife
Re: Toree 2, The Delightful Low-Poly Platformer, Gets New Levels In A Free Holiday Update
How did I miss this game? I love 3D platformer and N64 graphics. We need more retro 3D games!!

Re: Poll: What's The Worst Legend Of Zelda Game?
@MrGawain Neither has BOTW for that matter.
Re: Poll: What's The Worst Legend Of Zelda Game?
@Ultimapunch Lol, Links Awakening on GB is almost identical to the Switch version, except for the graphics. Hardly garbage.
Re: Poll: What's The Worst Legend Of Zelda Game?
@Eel Not random. You can Jump, Duck and Slide to hit his weak spot.
Re: Poll: What's The Worst Legend Of Zelda Game?
@Ultimapunch How do you know?

Re: Quake Has Received Its Second Major Update For Nintendo Switch - Horde Mode, A New Free Add-On And More
I'm pleasantly surprised that Bethesda provides console mods for Doom and Quake, but I wonder why there are still no mods for Skyrim!

Re: Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain Gets An Extended Overview Trailer
I think this looks pretty cheap for a 30€ game, seems more like a free-to-play mobile title.
Re: Review: Unsighted - A Fantastic Top-Down Metroidvania With A Warm, Vintage Feel
Can you really call a top-down game a Metroidvania? I think this kind of game is really just a Zelda-like or Action-RPG.
Re: This Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Randomiser Moves Everything Around And Steals Your Items
I think Nintendo should add an Official Randomiser to their games at some point.

Re: Random: Xbox Celebrates The GameCube (And The Dreamcast!) On Their 20th Anniversary
@Greatluigi Dunno, Wii and DS didn't have much M-Rated games either and they sold really well.
Also, gamecube had at least the Resident Evil games, Eternal Darkness and Metal Gear.
