If you're yet to check this game out, we'd urge you to read our full review to see whether or not it feels like a good fit for your tastes. There's some pretty good combat and genuinely funny writing to enjoy, although we did feel that it perhaps leans a little too heavily on Zelda: Breath of the Wild for inspiration.
Have you been playing Immortals Fenyx Rising? What are your thoughts on it so far? Tell us below.

"genuinely funny writing to enjoy" This is a lie!
@jump that's your opinion.
Just got it, and it's already damn fun. Are we still beating the "relying too heavily on Zelda" dead horse, though? The devs did say they looked to BotW's approach to puzzles for inspiration, but otherwise? So far my Fenyx can't even climb [most?] trees - how the HECK do you even discuss a BotW clone where you can't climb trees???😳😆
And overall, personal experience dispelled the last shreds of silly parallels as usual - from the surfaces Fenyx does climb to combat controls to climbing high towers for recon and map updates (the thing BotW itself may have arguably borrowed from Ubisoft games)... the games really plays a whole lot more like a fantasy/mythology Assassin's Creed (not a shock when you know the game came from some of the same creators). You know, that franchise which combined open worlds, climbing and stamina bars before it was cool.
I really enjoyed this game, but I fell off early in the first DLC, which is mostly a series of tougher challenge vaults. I haven't tried the second DLC yet because I've been playing other games.
Couldn't enjoy this on switch at all, it was so muddy looking and the amount of motion Blur gave me worse sickness than Skyrim VR!
Such a shame as there was a decent game in there, I just wish I had picked it up on PlayStation or Xbox and I would have gotten a free upgrade to new gen instead of being stuck with old tech.
Haven't broken into the main game yet but I am considering picking up the season pass with its current 30% discount. Knowing me though the pass will be on 50% or even less by the time I actually get round to playing it.
@jump I really agree with you. I bought this game 2nd hand and THANK GOD I didn't pay full price for such a bad excuse of "humour"... The opening dialogue is so cringeworthy, and what I got after wasn't much better.
Over time, I’ve seen more and more people on my Switch Friend’s list playing this game, and putting in quite a few hours.
Great game, been playing on ps5. Totally ok that it's basically a BotW ripoff because it's very fun.
I'm 50 hours in so far and am loving it.
@Mr-Fuggles777 I don’t doubt your experience, but for me the game looks great. However, for large games like this I always play them docked to my TV.
@Mr-Fuggles777 Someone here expects 4K 60 FPS with TXAA enabled on the Switch
@poudigne Well yeah, like how Friends spent 10 years as the biggest comedy show, other people just don't have taste ;p
@jump That just still your personnal taste... some will agree some will disagree.
@poudigne I think you need to take it up with the writer of the article for saying it's funny without the disclaimer that it's just opinion. How dare they! ;p
@mikegamer not really, I expect a game to at least be playable.
Monster Hunter Rise is Standard Def handheld but is an absolutely amazing game and looks stunning - Immortals FR is a blurry mess with zero draw distance, a vaseline filter and excessive motion blur.
I do want this game, might get it next year.
@jump an article is always based on the writer's opinion? why would do they need to make a disclaimer.
@poudigne You seem to need a disclaimer about everthing written on the internet as an opinion for some reason ;p
@poudigne I believe that was sarcasm.
@Kiz3000 where did you see 30% off the season pass?
@BooJoh I simply gave up on the first DLC. The puzzles and challenges were the weakest part of the game for me, so I didn't want more of that. The second dlc though is all I liked from the first: exploration in a mythology and incorporating that lore inside gameplay. With the added bonus I know nothing about Chinese mythology, so I have no idea where it's headed (even though the setup is very very similar to the main game, basically identical)
I liked the demo enough to pick up the game, but I ended up getting a physical PS4 version that was on a pretty good sale. Still, the Switch version seems to include everything and look pretty decent despite the downgrades, which deserves recognition. It helps I also like the setting and story - including the humour, though I admit some of it really is cringy (Hermes is especially annoying). FYI some of the jokes land much better if you’re familiar with Greek mythology, while some of the meta-humour is also on point, including some comments from Zeus in the quest descriptions.
The humor is definitely hit or miss, but I mostly enjoyed my time with the game. On the fence about going back for DLC given my backlog but you never know.
I backlogged this game but also totally forgot about it. May not bother anymore unless I can get it real cheap
This game is very good. The writing is not especially funny.. I would just call it more lighthearted. If you're looking for a serious story about gods and monsters this is not it. I will have to boot it up and see what "performance improvements" we're really made. I find that it performed pretty solidly in handheld but chugged a bit when docked.
@Pirate1 I just checked and it is 25% not 30%, my bad. This is on the UK eshop BTW.
This game just didn’t click with me. I played it pretty heavily for a couple weeks, and haven’t touched it since. Whatever magic BOTW had going for it made me want to explore everything. Immortals.... not so much.
I really like this game a lot, but it has crashed several times on me (switch version). Hopefully this update helps.
@mikegamer Not really, it's just about a smooth gameplay experience with a good looking game - both of which Immortals fails at. I picked it up on switch and was taken back at how bad the game looked and how horrible and inconsistent the frame rate is - docked or handheld. Really great game on other platforms - falls dramatically short on the switch.
@hippoeater I missed the part where that's my problem. Should've looked at videos.
@mikegamer who said it was your problem? It's someone commenting on your stupid comment. Are you not sure how the internet works with communication between people? I'm sorry you aren't so skilled at such basic human interactions.
@hippoeater Wow, calm down, Karen. Take your Prozac.
