Re: Launching NX Next Year Is The "Proper" Thing To Do, Says Nintendo Boss Tatsumi Kimishima

akaDv8R

@Mr_Zurkon Sony never made a profit from the PS3. Right up until the PS4 launched, it was still costing Sony approx. £600 to produce each unit, and were selling for around £250.

That is the reason they had to sell off their laptop division, close down 2 offices (loosing around 5000 workers), closed all their Sony Centers. They needed the money just to bring the PS4 to the market.

As of February this year, the ONLY part of Sony that was making ANY profit, was their insurance service.

Re: Launching NX Next Year Is The "Proper" Thing To Do, Says Nintendo Boss Tatsumi Kimishima

akaDv8R

@SLIGEACH_EIRE If you look back on this site, quite a few months ago, a spokeswoman for AMD stated, the the NX GPGPU is the biggest they have made for a home console. It has also been built to the exacting standards Nintendo wanted.

Square Enix tweeted, "From Early Dev kits. what we can do, can only be done with immense power and cutting edge technology".

I really don`t think NX will be under powered. I hope I am not proven wrong.

Re: Review: Star Fox Zero (Wii U)

akaDv8R

Like many Miyamoto games, in a few years, this game will be looked at as a landmark in design.

Miyamoto himself, has stated that it would take the average gamer, maybe 2 hours to become familiar with the controls, and then get better and better, the more you play.

I wonder how many reviewrs actually spent more than an hour or so before submitting their reviews? ANY reviewer worth their salt knows, STAR FOX games have always been on-rail shooters, and this one has been in tne media for quite a while now, and we ALL know/knew, it was taking the same course. However, these so called EXPERT reviewers, are astonished and appalled that the game IS an on-rail shooter.

This game simply could not have been done on any of the other two systems, because of the Game Pad. Unless you think the Vita could have done it....lol. Many reviewers in general, simply have a hate toward Nintendo, and nothing is going to change their mind.

At the end of the day, it is down to each individual, if they like or dislike the game. I personally will be downloading the game, and Project GUARD come midnight Thursday.

Re: Star Fox Zero's Arcade Mode Is Aimed At "Advanced Users", Claims Shigeru Miyamoto

akaDv8R

A few people commented on here a few days ago, concerning the third person view on the TV. When firing, the lasers don`t exactly match up with what you are aiming at, and that is what the Game Pad first person view is for.

This is actually quite true in real life. If you fire an Assault Rifle from the hip, you may be aiming in the direction of a target, but the chances of you actually hitting, are reduced. Once you bring the weapon up to sights, obviously, the chances of hitting your intended target go up exponentially.

Is it right to have it in a game? I don`t know, and won`t until I have actually tried it for a longer period of time. The same goes for ALL the people that were slamming the decision to do this.

Re: Talking Point: PS4K 'Neo', NX and Supplemental Computing Devices - Home Console Gaming May Be Changing

akaDv8R

@ElkinFencer10 It has been regarded for years in Console terms.

For a Console to be reagarded as 'NEXT GENERATION', the technology inside, primarily the CPU and GPU/GPGPU has to be at least 2 years newer than the previous console.

So, if 'NX' turns out to be a brand new cpnsole, then it would have to be regarded as a 9th Gen console. However, if 'NX' is an add-on for Wii U, then I presume the Wii U would still stay as an 8th Generation console.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo NX Source and Details Gain Some Traction

akaDv8R

@foobarbaz Sony releasing Playstation 4.5, would piss a LOT of people off. Only 3 years ago, customers slapped down up to 500 U.K. pounds for a Playstation 4.

Also, if the main attraction of the PS4.5 is the 4k compatible, then I personally don't think it will sell too well, certainly not at the moment. There simply are not enough CORE GAMERS out there, who have access to a 4k TV.

Also, by calling it PS4.5, and NOT PS5, that smacks of the console certainly not being that much more powerful than the PS4. I know quite a few PS4 owners, and they are already peed off with Sony, if the rumour is to be believed.

Re: Miitomo Tops iOS Chart in the US and Hits Three Million Global Downloads

akaDv8R

@Pikachupwnage Why you ask? One reason could be that, not ALL Nintendo users own Smart Phones.

Why has games like Drie Club and The Last of Us on PS4 not sold over 27 million units? There at least that many PS4's out there, so it should those titles should have so,d that many units. No?

Not everyone downloads something the day, ket alone the minute it becomes available.

Your expectations for the first day of launch are rediculous.

Re: Talking Point: My Nintendo and Its Account System Start The Process of Unifying Platforms

akaDv8R

@dres Hmmmm, that is where I digress.

Both Xbox 360 and PS3 were exponentialy more powerful than the original Wii. However, tbe Wii walked all over them in terms of sales.

Let me guess.....'Oh, the Wii was just a lucky hit at the time'. Was it? Or was it Nintendo being innovative?

Both Sony and Microsft tried, and failed miserabley to copy the idea.

Even the head of Sony stated a few months ago, 'The gaming industry NEEDS Nintendo, not only for its fantastic 1st party games, but also because of their innovation'.

Re: Talking Point: My Nintendo and Its Account System Start The Process of Unifying Platforms

akaDv8R

@Minotaurgamer By your logic, Sony and Microsoft have never been cutting edge either.

Both use C'PU's that are over 2 yers old, when the consoles released. And both used AMD GPU's, again, that were over 18 months old.

As was posted on this very site, and a few others a couple of months ago. Square Enix Tweeted,' What we have been able to do with early Dev kis, can only be done with immense power and the latest CUTTING EDGE technology'.

Lastly, a spokes woman for AMD, came out and said, 'It is the biggest GPGPU we have ever built for a home console, and has been customised to Nintendo's exacting standards'.

Re: Talking Point: My Nintendo and Its Account System Start The Process of Unifying Platforms

akaDv8R

@Harmunt It has been known for over a year now.

If you have a Wii U, and have loads of games on it, and it goes wrong. All IS NOT lost.

A simple call to Nintendo, and they will simply transfer all the software to your new Wii U, f you decided to buy one of course.

My Wii U developed a problem some time ago. I got another system, called Nintendo, gave them the new Serial Number, plus my NNID, and all was good. I was able to re-download everything again.

Re: Video: Check Out the New Hyrule Warriors Legends Characters on Wii U

akaDv8R

Call me thick (many have lol). I was under the impressions, that Wii U owners of the original game, would get the extra characters for FREE. I just loaded up Hyrule Warriors on my Wii U. There was a pretty hefty update, and then a quick DLC install.

However, upon reading the CHANGE LOG, I am now told, I HAVE to purchase the 3DS version to use these extra characters on my Wii U.

I find this rather disgusting on the Developers part. Forcing me to pay 40 U.K. pounds, and then what-ever for the Season Pass is just not on.

Even thougn it has been a while since I have played the game, my interest was pricked by the thougnt of some FREE extra charachters. So, for those that do not want the 3DS version, or are unable to afford it, they are being penalized.

Personally, I WILL NOT be handing over even more cash to the Developers. I feel sorry for the people that play the original game still, but unless they part with, let's face it, quite a substantial amount of money, will be getting nothing new.

Not impressed by this 'blackmai,' type technique at all.

Re: Star Fox Zero Will Include An Invincible Mode For Inexperienced Players

akaDv8R

None of us, as far as I am aware, has even tried this game yet, and a LOT of people are already slating it.

Why not wait until the game releases, read some reviews, check out some actual gameplay by PLAYERS on YouTube, and then try and make an INFORMED decision.

Some people call themselves Nintendo Nuts, or fans, but are the quickest to slate anything new that Nintendo is trying. You can bet anything you like, both Sony and Microsoft will be looking at this game, both in terms of controls, and the dual screen layout. They get their ideas from Nintendo, the head of Sony said so himself, quite a few months ago.

Also, for the people on here asking for info on online multi-player, you should look back at a few videos that were posted on this very site a short while ago. Miyamoto stated, there is no online multi-player in this game.

Re: Review: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD (Wii U)

akaDv8R

If anyone has read one of my previous comments, you will know that I only scratched the surface of this game when it first launched.

I have heard and reac many differing opinions as to how good this game compares to other Zelda games.

I would really appreciate it, if people who have played the game before from the NL community, could give me their opinions as to what they think/thought of this game. All opinions are much appreciated.

Re: Review: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD (Wii U)

akaDv8R

@J_watch No worries buddy. As I said, we each have our own opinions, and they are just that, OUR opinions. We have no right to try and force them onto others.

It is not just because of the HD make over that I am getting the game. I only ever scratched the surface of the original version, so it will be virtually like playing a whole new adventure for me.

All the best for the future mate, keep on gaming.

Re: Review: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD (Wii U)

akaDv8R

@J_watch They no doubt tried 60FPS, but I guess there were dips in a lot of places.

What is wrong with 30FPS anyway? The game is running slighlty faster than normal TV/films run at (28.9 avg.), so is perfectly playable.

I would never tell anyone that they should buy a game, not my business. All I am saying is, with the extra's, FULL 1080P, not upscaled, amiibo support, and a constant 30FPS, in MY opinion, it is worth a purchase. I do however, respect your opinion, which is no more, and certainly no less valid than my own opinion.

Re: Rumour Buster: Let's Clarify Some Issues With Those Recent Nintendo NX Predictions

akaDv8R

@Jin15 Some of what you say is true. However, as was shown on this, and many other web sites a few months ago. A spokes woman for AMD, who make ALL the GPU's for ALL consoles, stated that the one they had built for 'NX', was the biggest and most powerful console GPU to date. She also stated that it was built to the exacting specs that Nintendo had asked for.

We also know that 'NX' IS x86 architecture this time, finally leaving behind the Powet PC tech. With their growing interest in the mobile market, and teaming up with Japans largest mobile games company, having mobile function intergration is not that much of a stretch of the imagination.

But, as has been said before, until probably E3, there are going to be a LOT more rumours, and we won't know for sure, until Nintendo feels it is safe enough to release the full specs. Releasing info now could be financial suicide. If Microsoft or Sony were able to quickly knock something together, and get it to market before Nintendo is ready, bang goes any innovation they have come up with.

Then again, the other two look to Nintendo for innovation, so what ever it turns out to be, you can almost guarantee, the other two will take bits from it, and incorporate it into their next product.

Re: Ori and the Blind Forest Director Criticises Secrecy and Lack of Access to NX Devkits

akaDv8R

We already know Nintendo HAS given out EARLY Dev Kits to certain Devs.

As has been reported on this site over the past few months, both Square Enix and Bandai said they already had the kits.

Bandai tweeted, 'NX is a HOME CONSOLE, first and foremost'.

The guy, and his team have never released on Nintendo systems, but expect to be at the top of the list when it comes to getting info and Dev Kits. It actually shows his lack of knowledge of how companies, especially console companies work.

Re: Rumour: Star Fox Zero Facing Development Niggles, Another Delay Could Happen

akaDv8R

@roboshort I know what you mean.

However, we already have some info as to the power of 'NX'. When Square Enix Tweeted a few weeks ago, and it was shown on this very site.

They stated that, with the EARLY Dev kits they have, the stuff they have been able to do, can only be done with immense power, and the latest cutting edge technology' Obviously, because of NDA's, they are not allowed to give out specific info, but it does give us some hope that Nintendo have learned from some of their mistakes.

Re: LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens Trailer Leaks Ahead Of Official Announcement

akaDv8R

I have said it before. Suddenly, WB cannot do enough for Wii U owners. Season Passes and now this.

It seems to me that, project 'NX' looming on the horizon has a few Devs thinking, 'This could be a BIG hit'. So, they now give us stuff they have not given us before, in the hope most users will forget the days when they could not distance themselves from Wii U quick enough.

I could be wrong, it has been known....lol. Just an observation from a life long Nintendo user.

Re: Interview: Learning More About FreezeME, a Surprising 3D Platformer for Wii U

akaDv8R

When I read that he basically created the game just by himself, it took me back to my Amiga days. The guy, who in his spare bedroom, created the first Worms game.

I applaud these kind of Devs, and take my hat off to them. We should ALL be supporting these Devs., as their next game could be the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Whilst it is not going to be everyone`s kind of game, it will be a day one purchase for me, when it releases in the UK.

As he said himself, he could have stopped, and got a "proper" job, earning a great deal more money. I thank him for choosing to go with this game, and wish him all the success he deserves.

Hope to see many more games from this guy/studio in the future.

Re: Nintendo Dominates Festive Sales in Japan as 3DS and Wii U Lead the Way

akaDv8R

@HandheldGuru97 If you are hinting that NX is going to replace the 3DS family, I seriously doubt it.

You only have to go back a few days on this site, where a top Nintendo executive stated, the 3DS is here to stay, for a long time to come. Also, having fairly recently released a new 3DS, they would be alienating thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of people who have just purchased one of these new hand helds.

The new 3DS is not just a quick make over either. Brand new head tracking, vastly improved 3D effect, faster processor, faster GPU, nrw storage system. You don't invest time and money into that kind of stuff, just to basically, throw it out of the window just over a year down the line.

Re: Feature: Five Key Reveals and Releases That Will Define Nintendo's 2016

akaDv8R

@Peach64 I agree with a lot of what you said, expecially about most of the various sections of Nintendo are working on NX, either the tech ot games.

When it comes to their mobile role, I seriously don't think it will impact on their main home console division. We already know there is only going to be around 4-5 games released up until late 2017. I am sure, if they do well, then more will follow. Nintendo would need to just create a small team, dedicated to poring games to mobile decices, and then DeNa will do the rest.

Without dount, NX needs a fantastic launch lineup, and this is what makes me think, this is the reason we only know of just a few Wii U and 3DS titles coming this year. Obviously, there could be games that they just have not announced yet, and nothing would surprise me about Nintendo announcing something at the last minute.

Re: Review: Minecraft: Wii U Edition (Wii U eShop)

akaDv8R

@123akis Hope your time with XCX is going better than my time mate.

I am having to do a LOT of side quests, to try and level up, before actually taking on most of the Story Mode missioms.

Hope you had a great Xmas buddy, and may our group and friendships last for many years to come.

Re: Super Mario Maker Director Shares Details About the Upcoming Update

akaDv8R

@Nathan SOME people are NEVER happy with what they have got.

You KNOW FOR SURE it would have been simple to add in the features you asked for, do you?

How about giving us a MARIO KART making game, which includes everything from ALL the past MK games, I am sure it would be an easy title to create.

Unlike a LOT of DEVS, this is stuff that Nintendo have/are making after the initial game launched. Why not be grateful for what you are getting....FREE OF CHARGE?

Just a thought, eh???

Re: Nintendo NX Doesn't Need To Compete With PlayStation 4 And Xbox One To Be A Success, Claims Analyst

akaDv8R

Just a quick point. If people think that Microsoft Game Division will simply release a new console within a year or so, that is twice as powerful, think again. Whilst Microsoft as a whole, has a lot of money, its console division is bleeding money, left rignt and centre. They had to borrow over 2 billion dollors from tbe other 2 thirds of Microsoft, to buy out the Devs of Minecraft. Also, at this point, having lowered the price of their console 6 times, they are not making any money back on their investment.

As for Sony. Everyone knows, the PS4 is make or break for them. Selling off their laptop division, closing ALL Sony Centres, selling off over a third of its music division, and closing down 2 offices, with the loss of over 5000 jobs, just so they could afford to bring the PS4 to the market. Whilst it is selling well, again, they are not making any money YET. The only division of Sony's that is making money, is their Insurance Division.

Lastly, even if they had the money and resources, I really cannot see either of them releasing a brand new console within their current consoles 4th or 5th year. The Xbox 360 lasted 8 years before being succeeded, same with the PS3.

Re: Feature: Time to Vote for Your Nintendo Life Game of the Year Awards 2015

akaDv8R

@Sligeach Control wise, I think most people are happy with the motion controls. Yes, it does still need a couple of features (changing loadout, backing out).

Voice chat is NOT essential in this game, that is what the on screen map on the Game Pad is for.

Yes, Nintendo actually copied what most other Devs are doing with most games, locked some content on the disc. However, I do believe they have made up for this with the sheer amount of FREE courses, gear and weapons, releasing on a nearly weekly basis.

But, if you are not happy with a game, you are not happy.

Re: Minecraft: Wii U Edition Will Support the Wii U Pro Controller, Voice Chat, and USB Keyboards

akaDv8R

@day How do you know for sure, Microsoft allowed this game to come to Nintendo? Just like with Sony, this is a deal that could have been done before Microsoft bought the company. Keeping to that contract could be a LOT cheaper, then breaking it, and then having to pay Nintendo what could be, a huge amount of money.

Yes, Nintendo did spoil us, especially with the Game Pad, and off-TV play. However, does that mean that EVERY game has to use those features? Of course it does not. I, and most other users, don`t know why Minecraft is not using the Game Pad in the way it could/should be. However, if there is enough backlash, I am pretty sure it would not be too hard to implement such a feature. Or maybe they tried, and for some reason it just did not work.

Like someone has already said, a lot of people will be glad this title is finally coming to Wii U. It is not my kind of game, but it does have a massive following. Also, this could bode well for NX. If there is a deal in place for a NX exclusive version, that alone could sell a lot of units.

Re: Review: FAST Racing NEO (Wii U eShop)

akaDv8R

@GoldenGamer88 Apparently, and it can only have been done using great Compression. The game is around a gb in size, if not smaller.

It sounds incredible to me how they have fitted everything in, but I guess that is where the COMPRESSION comes in.

Re: Review: FAST Racing NEO (Wii U eShop)

akaDv8R

@gatorboi352 It was the same for MK8 at the start. It should not be too hard to get a patch out, that forces the Game Pad to only display what that particular playing is seeing.

It is hardly GAME BREAKING stuff, or for you, maybe it is. If so, I feel sorry that you will be missing out on a FANTASTIC game, that has taken 3 years to develop.

Re: FAST Racing NEO Release Date and Pricing Speed Into View

akaDv8R

@RoomB31 Nintendo pushed this game like crazy at E3. They have also showed it in the last Direct.

The fact it is NOT a first party game, is the exact reason they would not launch along side XCX, which is almost a 2nd party game. And to price it so low, after 3 years of development, they want to maximise their sales.

A LOT of owners will have been saving for XCX, and probably wouldn't have the extra cash to buy both at same time.

Re: FAST Racing NEO Release Date and Pricing Speed Into View

akaDv8R

@RoomB31 There was no way they were going to release a game that has been in development for 3 years, in the same week that XCX launches.

A Demo would have been nice though. I think it could have put a lot of people who are on the fence about the game, at rest, and allow them to see what an awesome title it is going to be (hopefully) .

Re: Rumour: NX Set for 2016 Release With Nintendo Targeting 20 Million Shipped Units

akaDv8R

@russellohh Yes for the Wii, however, Wii U dev kits hit 3rd larty developers around 6 months before the console released.

Criterion were moaning that they had only 6 months to create Need for Speed Most Wanted U. Turns out they should not have worried, as it is the same as the PC version.

Personally, I would imagine Xmas 2016 would be the best time to launch. People will have had time to take in everything from E3, and with the right line and ADVERTISING, they should be on to a winner.

Re: Feature: Our Top Wii U Games - Third Anniversary Edition

akaDv8R

@VeeFlamesNL With the exception of Splatoon, I think you will find, most Wii U games launch with full content, and working properly.

A massive amount of games on the other 2 consoles have launched, and then needed patch after patch after patch, to fix things, or to get the game working properly.

I have problem with DLC if done properly. I, and most others believe the DLC for MK8 was not already finished when the game launched, and was priced at the right amount. Unlike CoD or Battlefield, where we know for sure now, most of the extra maps that become available, have already been made before the game launched. That is the WRONG way of doing DLC.

Re: EA CFO Explains Why the Company Doesn't Make Wii U Games Anymore

akaDv8R

@FullbringIchigo Exactly. Nintendo asked EA for help in setting up the infrastructure for the e-shop on the Wii U.

EA then said that they would run the e-shop for Nintendo using their abysmal Origin Account system. Nintendo obviously said, thanks, but no. EA have never forgiven Nintendo for it, and their has been bad blood between the two companies ever since.

Re: Splatoon Bundle Boosts Wii U Sales in Japan as Project X Zone 2 Struggles

akaDv8R

@rjejr Good point Tech. However, Nintendo ARE making money from their system selling, where as Sony are taking an even bigger hit now it has reduced its price.

We all know the Wii U is coming to the end of its Primary life cycle. I imagine Nintendo will take what ever sales they can get, whilst keeping at its current price.

What I am wondering is, how will Nintendo price their next HOME console. Surely, after shelling out 300 pounds, not a lot of people are going to be prepared ro shell out the same again, or even a bit more, even if it turns out to be more powerful than the other two. But Nintendo, if they want to make a profit, cannot price it too low, otherwise they will be DEPENDING on the console shifting by the bucket load, in order to recoup their initial development costs.

Re: Review: The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth (Wii U eShop)

akaDv8R

@Zodiak13 Why do PS users STILL insist they get free games? Seriously, it is beyond me.

It has be known for many years now, the initial charge for setting up servers is quite cheap now, bu to keep them running, costs virtually nothing. The fee you pay each month/year, is not for your online multi-player. Again, it has been proven it costs neither of the three console companies ANYTHING to allow you to play online, or chat online.

Nintendo allows players to play online, free of charge. The money you pay, is so that Sony can pay a developer a lump sum each month, to get the rights to distribute their title to Sony`s customers. You are paying a fee, and not even able to choose what it is you get. You get told a selection, and that is it.

Once and for all, PS+ is NOT free games every month....FTLOG
.

Re: ZombiU Servers Reanimate After Being Down for Several Months

akaDv8R

Ubishafted have claimed that Zombi U was not FINANCIALLY successful. I find this very hard to believe.

To date, sales are around 840,000. Even at £40 a copy, that equates to £33.6 million. Take off publishing costs, and what they would have had to pay Nintendo, and you are probably left with around £28 million.

Now, the game was created in just under 6 months, as they got their dev kits just over 6 months before release. I do not believe the production cost of the game came any where near this amount. They even started to make a sequel, then vanned it after a montb or so. You simply do not even think of making a sequel to a game that was APPARENTLY a failure.

Truth be told, Ubishafted made a nice little profit out of the game. To be honest, why not, apart from a few graphical glitches, the game is brilliant, and makes fantastic use of the Game Pad. The off-line multiplayer is also awesome.

Re: Review: Slender: The Arrival (Wii U eShop)

akaDv8R

The Wii and GameCube were both PowerPC architecture, as is the Wii U. Getting away from the analogue shoulder buttons, it is easily possible to get GameCube games running on the Wii U.

When the Wii U first launchef, Nintendo even hinted at GC coming to the system, which, if it was impossinle to do, they would not have done so.
