Re: Switch's NES And SNES Games Will No Longer Be Added Monthly

aSmilingMan

How do you guys budget your time to go through all these games? This is not judgmental at all, I'm just truly curious since I would love to play all these but never find enough time in the day. Seeing the rerelease of these 20 was almost stress-inducing because of all the great games I could but won't be able to replay.
Between all the new Nintendo releases, indie releases and re-releases, I'm drowning in titles I would love to play but can't find enough time. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Valkyria Chronicles 4: Complete Edition Rolls Out Today On The Nintendo Switch

I agree with the sentiment of a few previous commenters. This is my favorite 3rd party game on the switch. I really hope the complete edition entices new players to try it out. If you haven’t played the first one, I would suggest starting there. The story is gorgeous and VC4 is a great continuation.

Don’t worry about VC2 & 3. They’re PSP games that build parallel stories. You don’t miss anything by not playing them(other than the fun). VC3 was never released in the West but it’s possible to play it with a very good fan-made English translation patch.

Re: This Super Mario Maker 2 Player Has Already Created A Full 32-Course Game

Personally, I feel that Nintendo should allow worlds and create a marketplace. I understand the snide remarks about someone not working enough, but what a service to other gamers! They gifted a couple hours of gaming to all of us for free.

I would be happy to give $1 or $2 to play some carefully curated worlds by dedicated creators.

Thank you 3rd Bunny and all other creators out there! You make this game even more amazing than it already is.

Re: Cuphead Developer Dreams Of Making A New Zelda Game

aSmilingMan

Mario with Rabbids
Starfox with Starlink
Zelda with Cadence

All seem to have been tremendous successes. However, part of what I think made them so successful is that these were explorations on brand with what fans expect of the IPs. Mario has been on so many different types of games that the Rabbids strategy fit well, and Ubisoft did it justice. Starlink was a better Starfox game than the latest Ninty Starfox, and Cadence seems to have knocked it out of the park with this innovative Zelda title.

Personally, I agree with previous commenters that a 2D Zelda would be too polarizing. I think there are Nintendo IPs that would be much better fits: Metroid or Icarus.

Re: Grab A Friend For Some Hectic Co-op Train Management In Conduct Together! On Switch

@greywing really appreciate a dev coming in to comment on the game. It looks like a ton of fun and a great party game!

Hate being the contrarian here, but $20 for hours of entertainment with 2 people feels like a good price. It all depends on what we compare it to. For example, I spent over $50 for Arms and found that, because of the steep learning curve, I can only play with a couple of people. This feels like a better party game, more like Overcooked and Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime, which are extremely valuable.

Day 1 purchase for me.

Re: Review: Valkyria Chronicles - SEGA's Strategy Classic Still Shines Ten Years Later

This was my favorite game in the PS3/360 era, and I'm glad it made it onto Switch. Definitely double dipping.

If you haven't played this yet, I cannot recommend it enough. If you'd like a taste of the type of game it is before committing, I would try the VC4 demo. The stories are not sequential, and both games can be played independently of each other. They focus on different theaters of battle of the same war.

Re: Sega Releasing Original Valkyria Chronicles Game On Switch This October

aSmilingMan

Really happy for this. A definite buy for me! Day 1 if I’m done with VC4 by then. I played VC back when it launched for the PS3 and it became my favorite series. VC2 & 3 were lovely portables. I truly hope they release those in a collection. Most players never experienced VC3 because of the poor choice of keeping it in Japan and on the PSP. Hope Sega takes a hint this time round.

Re: Valkyria Chronicles 4 Demo And Digital Pre-Orders Go Live Today On Switch

aSmilingMan

@AtlanteanMan thanks for the full comment on the demo and letting people know what to expect. I really hope VC takes off in the West. It was such a pity that they never localized VC3, and kept VC2 in the PSP.

@MirachsGhost that was my understanding! I'm definitely planning on double dipping. I haven't played it in a decade, and loved the original.

@Mando44646 had the same question! This is a day one for me.

What a sweet treat to get this demo! Valkyria Chronicles is my favorite game franchise.

If you’ve never played this game, I strongly encourage trying it out. They’re releasing #1 for the Switch too, so I would likely play that first, and then go onto VC4, which has new features and an additional class.

Re: Review: Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle: Donkey Kong Adventure (Switch eShop)

I finished playing and 100%-ing this DLC a couple days ago. While, I hear, and agree with some of the complaints about this DLC, I thought this was a very generous and well built DLC.

Adding the ability to pick from the whole roster and weapons would have probably made level design too complex. Personally, I preferred having more levels with the limited roster, than having the full roster, but fewer levels because of the balancing issues.

I don't usually complete everything I can in a game, but this time I did because I couldn't get enough Mario & Rabbids. Ubisoft has me completely sold on the series (I hope it is a series!). I thought the base game was excellent, and I feel like I got a lot of value from the season pass.

Re: Valkyria Chronicles Is Coming To Switch

aSmilingMan

I'm so excited about this news! I played VC when it came out and loved it. While VC2 was less good, I had a blast playing VC3 (played using the fan-made translation). There's something delightful about the combination of RPG elements with strategy. Also, I thought the story for the original VC was beautifully written and immersive.

I can't recommend this enough for those who never played the original. I'm personally looking forward to playing it again on the Switch and then embarking on VC4 - which is easily the game on the Switch I'm most looking forward to. Hope this will sell enough to compel Sega to continue investing in the series!
