Mario Tennis Aces is due to arrive later this month and we're all chomping at the bit to jump back into a tennis game on Nintendo Switch (well, maybe not Tennis World Tour in its current state), so what better way to celebrate than a new trailer starring Mario and none other than world number one, Rafael Nadal?
You'll see the Spanish superstar go toe-to-toe with some Mario's most outlandish moves, discover the added feature of challenging decisions and see Mr Nadal using a Joy-Con for some good old motion control swings after the match. It's silly, but we love it.

Mario Tennis Aces arrives on Nintendo Switch on 22nd June. Are you planning on adding this first-party smash to your collection? Share your thoughts below...

Pure Magic!
Mario Tennis Aces. Sponsored by Nike.
The ending:
It's-a me, Mario, and you're-a watching Disney Channel!
When they write their signs on screen, in the beginning I thought Mario was drawing something else.....
Hats off to the advertising agency! Nailed it.
I'm taking this as a hint that Rafa will be the first DLC character!
Great advert for the game. I like it

Very well done commercial. It's funny and gives a glimpse on all it has to offer.
Am I the only one who watched the signature piece several times while laughing in delight?! Brilliant stuff.
Wow...!
A Tennis Showdown with Trick Shot.
@NaviAndMii "Rafa will be the first DLC character"
That was my first thought.
Hey @get2sammyb I know you have your prejudices but it's a cool ad.
That 2 player Swing mode on 2 Switches was kind of cool. They should set-up up download play for this one like some of the 3DS games had. 1 game, 2 Switch. It could be a big selling point for the game. I took this game out of my Amazon cart the other day but I'm almost sold again on multiplayer swing mode.
Challenge seems a weird thing though, how often is the Switch going to be wrong to make it worth a challenge? And if it's wrong that much, nobody is going to want to play the game. It's a cool idea, but I'd rather the game just be right and move along. Instant replay every point takes up enough time as it is.
Great commercial!
I'm more and more interested in this. If the story mode is enjoyable, I'm sold!
Haha that's awesome and Rafa has to be a DLC character now
@carlos82 And then can be considered more realistic than Tennis World Tour ahaha
Mario's signature is awesome!
Amazing commercial! It reminds me of the awesome Nintendo commercials from the gamecube era!
@Skunkfish For a moment i thought he was about to draw a di*k :S
I love how mario was like "no, shut up" when he contested the call.
Excellent! Even with the d*CK signature at the end XD
That's by far the best trailer of the game so far. Got mine pre loaded already!
Isn't this sort of misleading, in that unsuspecting buyers will be expecting Nadal to be playable in-game...?
Did the squeaks seriously make up the first few notes of the Mario theme?!
Nice ad. Like the grading on it.
Would have been better with a McEnroe Voice over “you cannot be serious man, the ball was in”
Does anyone remember the song from the eighties where the umpire shoots McEnroe at the end?
Fantastic. Glad the games has a story mode (around tennis) in addition to all the tennis action.
@Thierry It seemed like they were positioning the ad in a way that showed he was playing the game. I didn't feel like he was actually playing Mario, but that he was playing the game and this was a fantasy re-enactment. If he had been flipping and glowing like Mario then I would have assumed he was in the game.
@RyanSilberman I heard it more when the ball was being bounced in the opening. it isn't exact but it sounded like a rendition of the theme to me.
@Ryu_Niiyama Right, same here, but I'm talking about the general public. Just by association I guess some people would assume he's in the game... 🤷♂️
@rjejr Not to assume anything, but even though you might care for this game too much, I HOPE you're not one of those that preferred that train wreck(Tennis World Tour) over this. It still baffles my mind how that game shipped HALF A FREAKING MILLION!!!
not a bad commercial and it makes sense on the functionality of the switch. Now is that what 4K Mario looks like? Is that what we have to look forward to when the movie comes out?
That's a genuinely excellent commercial. Well done, Big N.
So we can play it...wii style..
@Slasher shipped, but not sold... That company really must have good sellers to convince reseller to buy 500.000 copies with a non-return clause...
This commercial makes me want this game.
@Slasher "Tennis World Tour"
No, I had to Google that just to see what you were talking about. I thought it might have been a Mario tennis game on 3DS.
I did play a nice tennis game on Wii once that was motion based, and wasn't Mario, but that was long ago.
This is the greatest commercial ever! The "Challenge Decision?" feature is a lot more fun than you'd think. I've tried it out in another tennis game and it was always fun b/c sometimes I was right. Noticeably absent from the ad: Mario's voice.
Great commercial. Reminds me of some great ones from GameCube/N64 days. That marker squeaking to the tune of original SMB is clever.
Nice.
