Re: Poll: Should Nintendo Release A Digital-Only Switch?

Zulzar

@Switch64 Not entirely sad, imo. With the quality of gameplay in most modern mainstream games being as underwhelming as it is, I wont miss it. I'm pretty sure the Switch will be the last Console I invest in. It has a ton of great games both modern, retro and retro-modern. I have zero interest in the next generation of consoles.. unless Nintendo releases something worthwhile with physical games. Sony can keep their PS5, i havent owned a sony console since ps2... their last worthwhile console.

Re: Poll: Should Nintendo Release A Digital-Only Switch?

Zulzar

I want them to release a stronger version of the Switch that is a dedicated console, no handheld mode. And as for digital-only game consoles... No thanks. Consoles come and go...and so do their online servers. If that happens, im going to stop buying/playing new games. Plenty of games from the Atari2600 to the Nintendo Switch and everything in between to keep me entertained for the rest of my days.

Re: The Elder Scrolls: Blades Adds Motion Controls On Switch, Version 1.7.1 Patch Notes

Zulzar

People are expecting Skyrim depth in a Freemium Rpg-lite. I think modern gamers are too spoiled. The game is designed to be played in spurts, their is no paywall as people claim. You don't have to pay a dime if you play the game as is, and have patience. You have the OPTION to buy special treasure chests. And the OPTION to buy gems which can be used to speed up crafting as well as make up for lacking certain materials which can be obtained with quest grinding, the abyss, and patience, building structures. They aren't trying to rip you off, they are trying to get paid. They have to make some profit for employee payroll, maintaining the servers, etc. And really, as a whole The Elder Scrolls games were CRAP until Oblivion and then Skyrim came along and actually made the series interesting and fun..and besides the main Elder Scrolls games their were a few smaller and ***** adventure and rpg-lite games. In comparison to the other spin off ES games like ES:Redguard for example which was a clunky third person mess, Blades is well done and fun for what it is.. a Rpg-lite.

Re: Review: Totally Reliable Delivery Service - Return To Sender

Zulzar

I bought the game and i'm loving it. its much better with other people in the game. The controls are easy yet intentionally awkward for challenge and humor. Very similar to Human Fall Flat, but better and with actual objectives and better controls. If you like bizarre, unique games that are funny and fun to play with your friends.. I recommend it. If you like and play this game, message me so we can exchange friend codes or search my username... Oddball83 on Switch and Discord as well.

Re: Poll: What Features Would You Want In A Switch 'Pro'?

Zulzar

I want a non-portable, dedicated console Switch with a stronger processor with additional usb ports and an aux port. I have an original Switch, and i never play it in handheld mode. It stays docked to my 36" TV it runs and looks great. I wouldn't mind more horsepower under the hood to insure smooth gameplay and crispier graphics.

Re: QubicGames Is Giving Away 10 Free Nintendo Switch Games To Everyone, Including You

Zulzar

I already own Mana Spark.. which is a great roguelike.

I downloaded Robonauts and it's awesome too.

These games are very retro in gameplay and graphics and probably wont appeal to people who prefer modern games. These might not be your style. They are great games for a particular audience though.

All I really play are Retromodern and Retro style games so this is right up my alley. I like some modern games, especially Nintendos modern first party games and a few others. But i'm more of a Retro, Arcade and Casual(Animal crossing etc) type gamer.

Re: Review: River City Melee Mach!! - A Retro Trip That Should Satisfy Longtime Kunio Fans

Zulzar

If you're a fan of the old NES game, i'd skip this. I bought this the first day of release and was terribly dissapointed in how they hyped it and what we get. The fighters feel very floaty.. controlling your fighter feels so odd.. and the combat is weak and boring. Remember the fights you had in the original RCR? This is a pale imitation of that. It feels slower like everyones pulling their punches.. you dont feel like youre punching each other very hard at all. it feels like a slap fight free for all. Such a great idea and concept wasted on weak execution. Don't even bother.

Re: Review: Freedom Finger - The World's Most Offensive Shmup Is A Complete Blast

Zulzar

The game is AWESOME. However, I cant believe people arent complaining about the weakness of the sound effects volume... in docked or handheld mode. I have the music pulled back to half, sfx on full blast... even with my headphones on you can still hardly hear them. I hope they patch that. and yes, i know its more music oriented but weak sound effects can really take away from a shooter... i want to hear the power in the shots being fired, the explosions.

Re: Review: Contra: Rogue Corps - An Ugly And Unfocused Mess That Shames The Contra Name

Zulzar

I've been playing this game a while, mostly ripping through it and destroying it with ease. I keep coming back to this review, and the quality of the visuals all boils down to ones perspective. The game is not as bad as this review says. I know its an opinion but its a blazingly biased one.

He claims; "Aiming in a hectic twin-stick shooter needs to be refined and accurate, but the controls here just aren’t slick enough. Time after time you’ll find yourself struggling to hit the exact enemy, exploding barrel or vehicle you were aiming for. There are also platforming elements in every level that feel supremely awkward, getting you into all sorts of bother as you try (and fail) to reach some catwalk or other to deal with a grenade-lobbing mutant. It’s these very basic building blocks that aren’t up to task, ensuring that this is an experience that’s going to struggle to hold your attention for very long."

Fail? YOU Fail, because you obviously suck at the game and your frustration shows throughout the "review". You're used to games that hold your hand. I'm nearly done with the game and literally had none of these problems. You just can't aim nor have any depth perception I guess.

People comparing this to Enter The Gungeon. Enter The Gungeon is ok, ill give it that. But incredible? lol. You haven't played many twin stick shooters. Gungeon is mostly flash, Trendy "Difficult for difficultys sake" with 90% Gimmick Guns and the absence of TRUE co-op on Gungeon is pure laziness on Devolvers part. Note that i'm not comparing the two, they're two different types of Twin stick shooters.

Contra Rogue Corps was made for people who like classic arcade style twin stick shooters, which do not hold your hand like the classic Neo Contra and Expendable which came out before most of you were born. I'm not saying its the best game ever. But it's not as bad as bandwagon riders make it out to be. There's alot more to it, and has more effort put into it than people claim.

Re: Show Your True Colours With This Neon Red/Blue Headset For Nintendo Switch

Zulzar

A headset for the five or so games that support in game communication. Awesome!! Not. Nintendo Switchs Online service should have BUILT IN VOICE CHAT FOR ALL GAMES LIKE EVERY OTHER MODERN CONSOLE. Its so frustrating not being able to communicate in games like Diablo 3 where a little communication really helps when playing cooperatively and similar game where you need to talk about where you're going, talk strategy etc. We should have to use discord etc. It should be built IN. Not for just a few games.

Re: Magical 2D Platformer Enchanted Portals Accused Of Being A Cuphead Clone

Zulzar

This game is nothing but Cuphead with a different Theme. Inspiration is one thing. But this is a complete knock off. And I bet 90% of the stages are straight Bullet Sponge Boss Battles. I got bored with Cuphead after killing a handful of bosses. It started to feel like a chore. You guys have fun with it if this is your thing. I'm going to pass.

Re: Review: Valfaris - Heavy Metal Mayhem That's Rough Around The Edges

Zulzar

I personally don't read reviews for their opinions or scores, which i usually disagree with on a general scale across all websites. It all boils down to personal perspective, desire and opinion. They gave Cuphead a 9/10, which I would have given a 5 since it's mostly just tedious boss fights, once the novelty of the amazing handrawn graphics and animations wears off you got a really disappointing game that could have been much better with more actual stages to explore...after you kill a few bosses the rest feels like a chore i didnt care to finish. Anyway... This guy is complaining about checkpoints in a platformer/shooter. The only time a game should have checkpoints/save points is if they're an rpg or the game has very long stages with multiple parts. If they are linear, you should have to tough it out from the beginning of the level. Part of the thrill of retro games was the consequences of dying.. having to go back from the start, or only a few lives and maybe a couple of continues depending on the length of the game, then it was back to the title screen. Multiple checkpoints can really make or break a game like this... Ultimate Ghouls and Ghosts on PSP , for example, its multiple checkpoints and respawning exactly where you died sucked all the fun out of the game since they took out all of the suspense of the consequences of death. I think checkpoints should be an option you can enable/disable in the options menu. Rant over. Anyway... This game looks great, some things i wanted to know about the game were discussed in the review. I'm waiting for the physical copy in november.

Re: Random: Zelda × Untitled Goose Game Is A Crossover That Badly Needs To Happen

Zulzar

Thats a funny idea. But an open world Goose Game sequel would be AMAZINGLY FUN!! Im having a blast with it as it is... but to be able to explore an open world map, with several towns with plenty of tasks to complete as well as people AND other animals to pester. LOL. Some customizations for your Goose would be great too.. Also some collectables to search for.. coins, figurines, gems..assorted treasures. Alot of oppurtunity to expand on the idea behind Goose Game. I love it. Its one of my favorite games of 2019, hands down. Honk honk!

Re: Victor Vran: Overkill Edition

Zulzar

I was pleasantly surprised by this game. I was expecting a generic, linear action rpg but its way more in depth than I previously thought. Alot of areas to explore and mobs of creatures to slay with a variety of guns , melee weapons and spells. I wish more people played this game.. I've yet to play online co-op - nobodys online. Maybe everyones just playing single player. If you like Action RPGs this is a must have hidden gem. If you do have it, you can switch to online mode on the fly and open your game session to the public. All in all, its a cheap game.. i pocked up the physical on amazon for 19 dollars and some change, its worth every penny. Buy it, try it!!

Re: Review: RAD - A Gnarly Roguelike Which Is Let Down By Balance And Performance Problems

Zulzar

I preordered this game and have been playing near daily since release. I never play Switch in handheld mode, never have. I've had it docked since day one and use a pro controller. Performance wise I have no issues with this game, no lag etc. The mutations are great. The random generated levels, items, mutations etc really add to the replay value imo. You never know what lurks around the corner. Some of the larger enemies do an absurd amount of damage considering you only get 3 hearts. A hit usually takes half a heart you really have 6HP total starting out.. but some of the larger baddies and bosses will hit you for 3 hp and if you're not careful death can come very swiftly. Which at times can feel a little cheap especially taking on 4+ enemies at once. Overall its a very fun game, it has alot of style and personality. And like I said, I play in docked mode only and experience zero performances issues. Even if their are some in handheld mode, don't write the game off. Im sure they will release a patch addressing those issues and hopefully add even more content/mutations. It's a must have at 20 bucks.. give it a try. I hope they release a physical copy one of these days...

Re: Review: The Swords of Ditto: Mormo's Curse - A Roguelike Take On Zelda

Zulzar

I took a gamble and bought this game. It's REALLY fun - way better than I expected. Randomly generated worlds really work for a game like this, i'm actually starting to prefer games with generated worlds.. it amps up the replay value 10 fold. Going into a game and knowing what to expect around every corner, knowing the placement of every item and baddie becomes predictive and ultimately pointless to replay once you've beaten it especially in a game like this. I will buy a physical copy is they ever make one. Until then, hop on the Eshop and give this game a chance... it's only like 20 bucks..
