Perhaps this article is some kind of subtle jab against the media attention Pokken is getting in American Nintendo sites. In a way of speaking AS OF NOW Pokken is just as related to the Wii U as this game, both are arcade only projects announced for Japan. Might Pokken be released on Wii U? there is a possibilty, and there is a possibility this one does too, if even of only 0.000000000000001%
Perhaps the writer just made this article as a meta-metaphorical allusion to that.
Loved the first one so much, that in the past I wished I was able to get it again as a digital download just so I always had it in my system...
As I see it, now Square Enix finally gives me the chance to get the game as a digital download...and even better, is an impressively updated version with far more songs and options. Day ONE.
ANd then I think on the legions of decent enough developers that got sucked dry with Wiiware bombs and nowadays struggle to pay the bills with anything that doesn't involve game programming.
Minecraft is mostly big in America, so of course they care about american sales, and both PS4 and Xbox One surpass the Wii U install base in that market, even with the year long advantage the Wii U completely wasted.
For once, this seems credible. With +200 songs from basically all noteworthy games (and even a few duds) and the ever increasing DLC, they would need another 20 years of games in order to gather enough material to release another sequel based on Final Fantasy music.
At first I thought it was bizarre that the prize is a japanese 3DS LL...aside from the obvious fact that it is because they didn't wanted to bother with another production line for a very limited promotion.
BUT...now I see a lot of brilliance in that. A japanese 3DS could be a very sought out prize in this case because, 1. most likely the people entering the contest already have a regional 3DS anyway 2. The winner will be able to import any japanese he so desired (which are quite a number, particularly from Square Enix), and even download the plethora of demos and things available on the japanese eshop.
Would be interesting if we could compare the sales of this 7/10 game at 15 bucks, against The Letter, the 2/10 game at 2 bucks.
Because as far the average owner visiting the eshop goes, the only thing he will know is that both are terror first person games, and one is more than seven times cheaper than the other.
I liked the HarmoKnight demo...but I am still waiting for a sale, which knowing that is a first party title might not come in a long time, but alas, I am not in a hurry to get it, it surely will be enjoyable any summer and not just this one XP
I am pretty burnout after playing Alphabounce for dozens of hours this past months on my 3DS, I wonder when the need to play more paddle will strike me...but at least now I know which game will satisfy that need.
You have to consider that there are many people here that don't have a Wii U, and have never played (and maybe never will play) Wind Waker HD. If they believe that Wind Waker is the best Zelda, they need an option to choose it in the original way they played it. ERGO the two options.
That's the whole point. By doing only temporary discounts, they guarantee a spot in the "price drop" category of the eshop, most likely one of the most popular categories for the casual and impulse buyers...and with some luck like this week, managing to appear on the weekly official PR. Discounting permanently the games would leave them buried with every other game...that is, most of the time only appearing to the people that search for them manually.
For better and for worse, we all are able to superficially judge a game.
Some persons will see a single pic of Senran Kagura and will dismiss it as a pervert fanservice shovel game without even bothering to learn about the gameplay, fun factor, etc, all because of how they look.
In a similar vein, the "fratcore" gamers will see a game like Mario and Kirby and will dismiss them as kiddie games without considering that they might actually be great games, all because of how they look.
There is a quite depressing pattern there though...
All the projects here that have the Wii U at the core goal (Moira, Luna's Tale, Pip's Adventure) are missing the goal by quite a far margin.
On the other hand, most of the Kickstarters that have the Wii U or 3DS as a stretchgoal (Shiness, The Way, Omori) are actually reaching the goal, and even getting some stretch goals...Omori by itself have more money than what every Core goal Wii U Kickstarter is asking. Shiness and Pip'sAdventure cases are also interesting, both games have virtually identical goals (100,000 and 90,000 respectively) but the one with the Wii U included in the core goal is missing a lot to reach the goal in the final hours, while the one that has the Wii U as a stretch goal surpassed the goal already.
So, the whole "If the Wii U was in the core goal, we would pledge" angle seems unsubstantial in the end. In fact, results like this might actually give indie developers the idea that ignoring the Wii U from the core goal gets you more pledges and more success.
Marvelous devellop the games. In the past, Marvelous sold the license of the game to Natsume, which means they get money from the initial deal, but each Harvest Moon sold is money that goes exclusively to Natsume. It was a necessary deal if Marvelous had no way of releasing the game themselves, or they were afraid the game would sold badly.
Now, if Xseed (which is owned by Marvelous) releases the game, the money from every single copy sold is going directly to Marvelous. Of course, the move is a gamble; If the game underperforms, they might get less than what they got in the past selling the licenses to Natsume.
In short, Marvelous, after almost 20 years, have a way to release their very own and oldest franchise in America, and they want to try doing so, even if they need to change the name because Natsume have the rights for it.
Food for thought...Bob's game Kickstarter, that is not even about making the game, but about giving the creator some means to keep working on the game, was "funded"
Surprised by the good score. Most people that have played the game (including myself) just can't get over the multiple downgrades in visuals and flow that the game got from the arcade to the SNES. But again, Capcom and the system did the best they could, the console was just not powerful enough. There is a good reason why we never saw fighting games like Darkstalkers on the SNES, it wouldn't be fair for neither the game or the system.
They have released more games on the Wii U virtual console for the SNES than any other company, not even Nintendo has released more of their first party SNES games.
"Although the original never arrived on Nintendo hardware, this sequel brought a taste of the arcade action to the Super NES."
Small mistake. The first STreet Fighter Alpha was released in a Nintendo platform, the Game Boy Color, to the surprise of the few who played it.
Even more, considering that Capcom is one of the few companies releasing third party games on the 3DS virtual console, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw that particular Alpha port again the coming months.
I got the 18 regular patterns of Vivillon some time ago...Sandstorm sure was tricky. Now I need that one. I hope someone decides to put it on the GTS for any member of the legendary trios of the previous generations, I have some to spare.
First person viewpoint would make this parking simulator all the more useful for the people learning the ropes...but from a top down view, even if the controls are spot on, it might just be too different from real life as to be useful.
ATLUS have not a single game in the European eshop, everyone of their games have been localized there by other companies, and they decide when (and if) they are going to put them on sale. The first game ATLUS will release in Europe is Conception 2, this year.
But lets be fair, the other Mega Man game boy games were remixed from games that were completely different beasts than MMX and its sequel, after all the GB had some trump cards over the NES (just Zelda Link's Awakening even the non DX version leaves both NES Zeldas in the floor) to allow some incremental changes in those games.
The big goal also deflated things too fast, this kind of kickstarter need to start strong, people who see a kickstarter growing and reaching relevant landmarks each day gets motivated and start to pledge, it seems to be easier to give money when they got the feeling they are in a winning team. That also explains why most kickstarters that reach the initial goal always keep getting money and reach around half of their stretch goals in average, success generates more success.
On the other hand, when they see that a kickstarter have reached less than 20% of an initial goal after the midway point, potential pledgers get dissapointed, they feel their pledge would mean squat in the big scene, and therefore, they give nothing, failure generating more failure then.
HM 3 was also the first portable HM that allowed your character to marry and have children, unfortunately, the only marriage option was the player character of the opposite gender that you didn't choose.
Problem with this kind of promotions is that most of the time they are "lost in translation" between products and services. What I mean is that, yeah, 10 "virtual" bucks to spend in a 40-60$ videogame is awesome...and yeah, 2 "virtual" bucks to spend in a 5$ digital game is awesome.
But 10 "virtual" bucks to spend in gas, something in which many people spend around 100-200 bucks weekly, or at best, monthly, for many it will seem insignificant, a miserable and almost mocking "bonus".
"there's no online multiplayer to speak of, but that's to be expected from a budget DSiWare title."
Budget or not, it would be absolutely illogical and stupid to put online features when the NWFC is just days from being shut, and that includes every single DSiWare with online multiplayer, as few as they were.
It is still impossible to cover everything, they still miss a few, particularly games that were released at retail and later were uploaded to the eshop.
I have seen this game at sale in th 3DS eshop a couple of times, but when I came to NintendoLife to check if it was worth it, I was left with nothing. I hope no future game on sale suffers the same fate.

Dampierre, of course. I didn't even knew the character existed until today (and I have Sould Calibur Broken Destiny), but sure why not...with Smash my philosophy is, the crazier and nonsensical, the better.
