The official Japanese website for upcoming 3DS anime brawler Senran Kagura 2 has had a recent update adding new artwork, screenshots and an all new gameplay video.
A brand new boss is revealed who looks like a nasty piece of work, if you ask us:
It has also been revealed that a tree-like mission select screen has been added to the game:
Take a look at the new gameplay trailer below and let us know if this whets your appetite for a Western localisation or if you'd rather gouge your eyes out with rusty spoons.

It certainly looks better than before, but I fon't like the 3-dimensional fields. Looks like pain to hit enemies with long combos.
Still, I want it! A LOT!
Soon please
Katsuragi looked like she was restraining herself from fondling Hikage. lol
The mission treehouse reminds of Mortal Kombat. The whole game definitely appears to have a much darker tone to it and that boss looks SICK.
No matter what those idiots at ONM say, I'll buy this game on launch day!
"titillating info"
AHAHAHAH oh god. You're killing me.
Hoping for an western release, loved S.K.Burst and this looks even better.
If this gets localized, I will feel the same way like I did when Capcom announced Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. I was very happy during that announcement if you couldn't tell.
If it comes to NA, SOLD! Day one. Loved the 1st.
Haven't gotten the first one. Maybe if someday it got a sale.
I'm currently playing the first one on and off and I really have been enjoying it. This one looks much better gameplay wise, but the environments seem kind of bland compared to the original. I'll probably still pick it up though if it comes out in the US.
@Cyb3Rnite ikr?
Hope they're daring enough to put this sequel on European retail shelves as well. Loved the first one, and not just for the "two good reasons to turn your 3D on" tagline on the back of the box.
I still need the first one.
The first one was fun, but got repetitive after the first couple of chapters. Hopefully they've improved the monotony while keeping the fast-paced brawling and charming visual novel style story presentation.
/bails out of comments before the inevitable storm arrives
Um... some of those girls need breast reduction surgery. They appear to have an actual medical condition that can be dangerous. :/
@aaronsullivan I'm pretty sure they just aren't wearing the right clothes with their... um, affliction I guess. Those girls deserve sports bras if they are going to be doing such actions.
This is absolutely disgusting child porn and blatant objectification. The first game was appalling and this one obviously hasn't made any improvements. I sincerely hope this never comes to the west, and it would be really great if the Japanese version was cancelled. Or the developers were arrested.
i love the first one downloaded it day ! need this game in the west!
@Markshark Who said is child porn is not and im guessing you never watch anime or played an anime game before. Cause that's how they are and always will be for some reason. But still calling this game child porn is pretty extreme.
Err It looks better than the first one I guess.
Before checking the trailer I was thinking "sure, the first title was fun, but they better show some new twists gameplay-wise for get my interest...", I guess I owe them my whole attention now XD
I'm having this day 1 if it comes to UK
Lots of anime chests. Sign me up.
I'd rather gouge out my eyes with rusty spoons, thank you.
Rusty spoons please! The combat looks interesting but that much fanservice is way too much for me.
@midnafanboy Exactly, if it was actual child porn Nintendo would have never allowed it.
Doesn't surprise me people are already freaking out over this, lol.
Anyway I'm hoping the game gets a US release, loved the first game, and before anyone says anything, I'm gay and the "fanservice" does nothing for me, I just find it an enjoyable brawler, plus it looks like they fixed the framerate. so I'm already sold.
Edit-I just remembered there are male characters this time around, but even then it does nothing for me, I prefer the real thing over digital/anime
I legitimately bought the first game for the gameplay, and will do the same for this one if it gets localized.
I do hope this time Funimation helps out with localization here.
Nope, first one was such a shallow experience i'll never buy one again.
Hopefully come to the uk and the eu i enjoyed no1 still playing.
@midnafanboy I've watched some anime/played some anime games so I get that this is pretty par for the course, but that doesn't make it any less disgusting/disturbing and I refuse to accept that it will always be this way.
reads subtitle I get it! ...Oh, NOW I get it!
@Markshark I agree with you Markshark. They are definitely using sex to sell. They are obviously trying to attract young teenage boys. Its a low blow to have to sell this way but its the way of the world. Good example is Axe under arm deodorant as well as many others. Sex sells and this is no different. Its unfortunate because its a sick way of doing business. Its everywhere in our lives. The way Nintendo Runs things like Cancelling Swapnote for lewd behavior it shocks me they would allow this game in the Eshop with these Visuals in the games Marketing. scratches head I still can't believe they canceled swapnote. But bouncing Boobs are OK.............Shame on you nintendo. Technically I wouldn't call this porn but its obvious what the company making is doing. Heck they are happy to have people talking about the game in this way. It will get attention to sell and from I understand its a good playing game. I guess if Nintendo banned these types of sexual appealing games about 25% of the games would not be in the Eshop nor on Cartridge. I play Shin Megami Tense I and love it for content but it has some sexual moments too. I would miss those games. Am I being wishy washy? Yep . This game seems to be taking it up a notch
@Markshark Well you could have just said this game extremely perverted or something like that. But calling this child porn is way to extreme, if it was child porn people would have stopped this game in a heart beat.
@Shotgunryugan The first one was great, i thought it was going terrible but i was wrong. I do hope this game comes to the US, but in my opinion the character models or designs for this game are exaggerating.
@Markshark Hey! You got the first game and then you clicked on this article? Oh, by the way, the sense of humour in this game is so tongue in cheek, more people need to understand humour. Also, it's actually a game with predominantly Japanese ladies - yes ladies. Why do people keep judging that ladies with chests larger than ladies with small chests are a bad thing and shouldn't be seen in public or in a game? Games like Child of light give us innocence and games like SKagura give us a bit of sauce and there nothing wrong with that. Wahey!
@cfgk24 Unfortunately for this game, sexual objectification is a pitiful excuse for humor. Many of the characters are in fact girls, not ladies. No one is saying big breasts are bad. Games where many of the female characters are high schoolers with unnaturally large and bouncy breasts being used as the main draw to get people to buy are bad though.
I love reading the negative comments on this game and in particular, the subject this game covers. Because immediately following their sanctimonious rant, they'll turn on their system of choice and virtually blow somebody's head off. But that's ok.
"Even more titillating info"
Oh! I get it! It's funny, because-
@Gen0neD LOL it's so true! The people can't accept that there are people who like these sorts of niche titles.
Lol @ the Google translation of the Japanese SK2 website which states ( and I quote) :
'Genre : Big Tits Hyper Battle'
Please release in Europe loved the first game & still playing it now 50 hours into it
@BoobooMama Seriously though, if i were actually held accountable for all the kills i've made in my gaming career ( all the way back to Atari 2600 ) i would be locked away for genocide. I have easily "killed" thousands and so have most of the people that post here. But a pair of bouncing boobs is REALLY pushing moral boundaries. Hilarious.
@Markshark IDK what you're raving on about, how is this porn? There's no sex, no nudity, and the most skin you'll see out of these girls is when they wear their swimsuit. If bouncing boobs + panty shots = porn, you sir are seriously repressed XD
Also when compared to the average japanese anime girls used for this kind of stuff these girls are actually on the older side, 2 of them are actually 18. The 2 shown on the trailer are actually 17. (compared to the usual 14-13 yr old who's overly developed)
People play this for the gameplay? Sorry, but I could never play this game with a straight face.
@mamp It's not literal porn, just blatant and disgusting sexist objectification of children. I was exaggerating. Even if they are better than the average Japanese anime girls, it's still horrible.
@BoobooMama "...these sorts of h-material".
#QuickFixQuickly
I understand people like it, but don't get on others for voicing why they don't like it. Otaku culture churns this stuff out and it polarizes anime lovers from everyone else. As of late, it's doing more harm than good.
@SockoMario Actually it's a good beat 'em up the story's pretty good too and it's told in novel format. That's the reason I like this game. I don't care for the fanservice but I can look past it, especially because it's pretty light compared to some of the creepier things I've seen out there O_O
I don't know what this game is or what the first one was about, but the first thing that practically slapped me across the face when I saw the article were the humongous boobs. Couldn't even scroll to the bottom of this page to comment without encountering a crap-ton more of them. That tells me everything I need to know about this game.
So....yeah, no. Goodbye.
@Gen0neD Very well said! It's the truth too. It's pretty darn sad we live in a word where, hey lets blow someones head off at point blank.....rather then to see some jiggles. As a parant, I'd much rather my kids playing these kind of games then Shooters! Sex is an everyday thing, killing should not be.
Hey guys, we've strayed too far from the main topic, i'm afraid. If we can keep our comments a bit closer to the actual article at hand and also refrain from insulting one another, that would be super. Thanks in advance!
@Gen0neD lol, except I won't sorry mate, there are SOME people who still retain some morals.
@PvtOttobot: Everyone has their own set of morals, but obviously not everyone's set is identical. Please, let's not go out of our way to get personal with our differences, thank you
I'm starting to feel like any articles about this game should probably block comments in the future. If the game isn't right by you just ignore it, and everyone will be happier for it.
The gameplay of this game kind of sucks to be honest. It just looks.... really boring actually. I don't care how many chests are in this game, it still isn't worth over $30. :/
My GF loved the first Game, infact she's actually going too be cosplaying as Ikaruga at Connecticon this year.
@sinalefa I was waiting for a sale on Burst as well... But part 2 looks simply amazing. Deep Crimson plays like how Burst should have played like. Moving to three dimensions is a very smart move for this series. It really significantly raises its appeal.
@Markshark lol, because children have obscenely large chests?
If you don't like it, don't buy it. It's that simple. That's how liberty and capitalism works: people like something they buy it, if they don't like it, they don't buy it.
Not my kind of game, but I do think that the magazine's remarks are pretty unfair. I really like the linked responses, though.
@element187 No, real children don't have extremely large breasts. The children in this game do, which is why it is disturbing and gross. As for your comment on "liberty" and capitalism, that is why I am a communist.
Guys, they're not Kids, they're either in there Late Teens or early 20's.
They don't have their ages listed in the actual game.
@Robo-Knight you are one lucky man!
This is a day one game for me. loved part one.
@Markshark Could you please point out where the children are in this game?
That last paragraph was slick. I especially loved how it has a hyperlink to a story on another of ONM's hysterical articles against Senran Kagura,
It was completely unnecessary, and can only have been included to piggyback on the page hits similar articles have received on the topic. I guess you felt it would just be too shameful to do a straight article on another ONM dope telling us all how perverted we all are for accepting this game on the 3DS.
Or maybe you missed the bus.
I look forward to the community being needlessly rocked to its core as we all accuse each other of being paedophiles and freedom hating communists.
@Bass_X0 All five playable characters and at least four of the five playable characters in Senran Kagura Burst were between 15 and 18, most of them closer to the 15 end. Senran Kagura 2 looks to be the same and those characters in the trailer certainly look quite young. This page lists information on the playable and rival characters in the first game, including ages:
http://www.giantbomb.com/senran-kagura-burst/3030-38031/characters/
@Robo-Knight No, they are kids. All the characters in Senran Kagura Burst were between 15 and 18 and this looks to be the same. http://www.giantbomb.com/senran-kagura-burst/3030-38031/characters/
@ritz300 They do have their names listed in game, see above.
@Markshark 18 is of adult age in America and starts as low as 16, depending on the state. 13 is the age of consent in Japan. Would it have been okay if ATLUS changed their ages in those countries just to comply with their standards, even though they're younger depending on where you buy the game from?
Anyway, I couldn't get anywhere near finishing the first game because the monotony of the gameplay bored me to death. I'm curious what other beat 'em ups people have played to make them enjoy this style of play.
I'm not really interested in the premise of this game, but that's not to say I haven't bought a title like Growlanser, which sometimes does have the unusually well-endowed character here and there for no aesthetically important reason.
Honestly, this particular game's presentation is quite tame in the grand scheme of things. After seeing the crazier things from doujinshi, and the warped Excel Saga, I can understand that the lack of self awareness demonstrated by the character's identities in this title's context is nothing more than a show of satire.
This sort of subject is only worrying to me because it proves cultural puritanism is alive and well. It's always interesting to me to see what radically fundamentalist societies have in common with a certain supposedly democratic society in the western hemisphere... And I say that as a descendant of puritans.
At least in this game's target market, the audience is probably aware of what they're getting and getting into. Marketing and indoctrination tactics directed towards children are really a much more insidious issue than this.
@Windy Nintendo can't block this. They have no rights. This belongs to an outside company.
@Markshark and when a game gives us a clutz of a topless guy? Example: how about those Old Spice ads? Its humor. It plays with something many can relate to and thats how it becomes funny. Look at how many d*** jokes there are on the net. Many from teen boys. So how is this any different? Its the gender swaped version of that type of joke.
@edhe The irony is that these characters are "pedobear unapproved". Predators seek weakness, yet the dimensions (and wild actions) of these characters do not lend themselves to physical vulnerability. The presentation is just one that can trick some viewers into believing otherwise.
they got sum big knockers in this one don't they! Remember to take a 20-45min break every two hours kids !!!
@Markshark I guess you're not familiar with the artistic expression of "distortion"? That's really all this is.
To be fair, though, coming close to these body dimensions is not impossible with a high fat diet and a corresponding set of hereditary genes. Arriving at such a result as Senran Kagura is just highly unlikely. I saw maybe a few female students throughout high school whose dimensions and age rivalled these characters. (Of course, real people have noses and defining skin features unless some detrimental condition has befallen them.)
So, there do exist teenagers whose body dimensions rival that of these characters. Are those people "disturbing and gross" just because of that?
@Markshark No, they don't. I own the game and they're only referred to as "First year student", "Second year student" and so on. You should really play the games you're going to criticize, you might even learn something or have fun on the way.
@MixMasterMudkip
I thought they would go Tomodachi on this one. Thankfully they didn't.
@element187
Maybe after the second one hits they will discount the first one.
@Markshark I can't see any years they were born on that site you listed, nice to see you have a healthy interest in this series of games
For better and for worse, we all are able to superficially judge a game.
Some persons will see a single pic of Senran Kagura and will dismiss it as a pervert fanservice shovel game without even bothering to learn about the gameplay, fun factor, etc, all because of how they look.
In a similar vein, the "fratcore" gamers will see a game like Mario and Kirby and will dismiss them as kiddie games without considering that they might actually be great games, all because of how they look.
@Markshark idiot. On every level
come on people this entire game was born out of the idea that 3D boobs on the 3DS would be fun to watch... Yes it's a game about boobs. but instead of making it some weird dating sim they made it a fighting game. Don't like it? don't buy it!
I resent professional sports organisations like Fifa and NHL but I am not gonna cry on their articles because.. grrr sports are corrupted...
This is not created to disrespect women it is created because boobs are fun.
sure it will mostlikely attract teen boys and people who like fanservice.
But don't turn a silly game into a moral coversation because... then stop playing games all toghether because murder and genocide are wrong too.
Another view to this is that Miis don't have boobs at all. Now is there an issue there? Also, Bayonetta has her hair cut short to look more masculine but she has rather accentuated curves as does Zero Suit Samus. . lol.
I think the biggest issue for me, is kids seeing these kinds visuals. I'm not talking about teenagers cause if they want to see these kinds of things they will find a way...sneaky little.....haha. But pre teens shouldn't be exposed to this kind of sexual advertising or content. I guess there is Noway to stop it other than monitoring your own pre teens and what they do on the internet. Best defense is at home.
well xseed did say they were interested in localizing it to n.america, if they do im buying and as for the format i dont care if its digital only as ling as we get the game though it would be nice to get the retai version
OMIGAWD!!! ITS ABOUT TIME I HEARD MORE NEWS ABOUT THIS GAME!!!
Let's get started. Please pass the rusty spoons!
So now she has 2 scrolls between her crown-jewels...OH DEAR!!
