Re: It Looks Like Gold And Silver Will Feature In The Next 'Pokémon Presents'

Yamber

@UmbreonsPapa I think the biggest issue is that they weren't produced in-house at Game Freak. Only so much creative freedom can be given to a third party for a remake. Considering that the games were released buggy, and fixed afterwards, indicates that time was an issue. Probably rushed to make the holiday season. Effort could be an issue too though.
Those games were released just over two years ago. With S/V's DLC being worked on throughout last year, it doesn't really leave a whole lot of room for a good take on Gen V. Unless another studio does it. I'd like to be proven wrong though!

Re: It Looks Like Gold And Silver Will Feature In The Next 'Pokémon Presents'

Black Gold and White Silver (Only kidding. This would be confusing naming).

I'm not expecting much from this Direct. Maybe the originals on the NSO? I've been anticipating Let's Go: Johto for the past few years so maybe this year will be the one. I don't want to see the gen 5 remakes at all. I feel like it would be too soon for them. Meaning that not enough work was done to do them the justice they deserve. Would be a repeat of BDSP.
Other than that, usual mobile games. Updates to Unite/Masters/Cafe etc. Then maybe a movie or an animated special. Something like that.

Re: Well Would You Look At That, A Hat In Time Is Coming To Switch

Yamber

Ahh! I'm both pleased and annoyed at this. I bit the bullet a few months ago and bought the game on Steam due to the developers stating that the game wasn't coming to Switch. The Switch would have been my preferred console for this game and I wouldn't have minded waiting for it. Oh well...

Anyway, the game exceeded my expectations in the end. Probably my favourite game that I've played this year. Any fans of 90s/early 2000's 3D platformers will be delighted with it.

Re: THQ Nordic Acquires TimeSplitters Series, Suggests A New Game Is On The Way

Yamber

Brilliant news! It didn't seem like Crytek were going to do anything with the Timesplitters series so I'm glad that another developer has the rights to it now. Whether they'll be able to do the series justice is a different question altogether. I'll happily take a HD re-release of the trilogy in the meantime.
It does make me wonder what is going to happen to the officially endorsed fan remake Timesplitters Rewind though

Re: Nintendo Wants To Help External Publishers Incorporate Cross-Play

Yamber

I like that Nintendo are helping game developers achieve crossplay. It gives players more people to play with and helps to stop the online of games becoming dead.
For the next gen, I can see crossplay becoming an important factor in whether people will pick up a particular console or not. So Sony can get away with not supporting crossplay right now but not forever.

Re: Sakurai Is Well Aware That You Want Waluigi In Smash Bros. Ultimate, Says Reggie

Yamber

@Silly_G Burglary could be a good one! Kinda reminds me of the Sly Cooper series but I'm sure Nintendo would have their own spin on it. More emphasis on mechanics that involve stealing rather than straight-up platforming. A casino type game wouldn’t be a bad fit for him. Cheating to beat the system. Or he's the dealer/owner of a casino and he keeps bending the rules to stop you.
Waluigi is such a blank slate though. They could do anything with him as long as he’s been underhanded.

Re: Review: Fortnite (Switch eShop)

Yamber

I gave it a go on the Switch the other day and I thought it was alright. You'd probably need to play with friends though. There can be long stretches in matches where nothing exciting is happening around you.

Re: Nintendo's Reggie Fils-Aimé Talks About His Feelings On Leaks In Gaming

Yamber

Some people are clearly interested in leaks so they're not going away. They generate web traffic so I can see why they're heavily reported.
What I would like to see change is that those who report on leaks would be more considerate towards those who do not want to know about them. Particularly when it comes to the headline. Being spoiled because you're just browsing through a news website, or Youtube recommends a video to you with a spoiler in the title or thumbnail, isn't fun when you'd personally prefer the surprise.

Re: Sony's Share Value Takes A Hit Following Fortnite Account Woes On Nintendo Switch

Yamber

The lack of cross-platform play is a small nuisance but it's not the main grievance people have with it. It's that people who played on the PS4 couldn't log into their Fortnite account on the Switch because it’s associated with their PS4. Forcing them to make a brand new account instead.
Had they just allowed people to log in from any platform, but keep cross-platform play unavailable, then all of this would be almost a non-issue.

Re: Video: Here's What Happened To The Grinder, A Wii Horror Shooter Lost To Development Hell

Yamber

That name is a blast to the past. I remember being somewhat interested in it and it missing its predicted release date. I just presumed it had to be scrapped after The Conduit 2 sold miserably.

"Did you think Wii was ever really the right platform for first-person shooters?" <-- FPSes use to play like a dream on the Wii. It feels backwards going back to a controller to play them now. However, most people that liked FPSes had an Xbox 360 or PS3. Most of the Wii's audience had no interest in that genre. Shame, really.

Re: Review: Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp (Mobile)

Yamber

Thanks for the in-depth review, guys. It answered pretty much any question I had about this game. What to expect, what has changed to streamline the experience to mobile, how prevalent and necessary the micro-transactions are, how it controls, and so on. Really looking forward to giving this game a go. I'm hoping it will tide me over until a proper Switch entry is released.

Re: Feature: Five Things We Expect from the Animal Crossing Mobile Direct

Yamber

Really interested to see what form this game will take. I hope it ends up as close to the main series of AC games as possible. And if it does, I can see it being controlled similar to how Wild World was on the DS.

As for pricing, I'd much prefer a once off payment than a free game littered with microtransactions.

Re: Review: Pokémon Gold And Silver (3DS eShop / GBC)

Yamber

@Onion Gold and Silver both worked on the original Gameboy and the Color but were enhanced on the GBC. Crystal is the one that was only playable on the GBC. If you look at the cartridges, you'll see that the G/S carts have the notch in the top corner and Crystal doesn't. That notch was removed from all Color only games to prevent users trying to jam it into an original Gameboy. Much like how 3DS carts have a protruding edge to stop people trying to put it in an original DS.

Re: Resident Evil Revelations 1 & 2 Are Coming To Switch Later This Year

Yamber

It's good that Revelations 2 is finally headed towards a Nintendo console. It's a shame that you have to download the second one though. If they had to do it that way, I would have preferred that Revelations 2 be the physical one and Revelations 1 be the digital one. Since Revelations 2 takes up more than double the disk space compared to Revelations 1 (according to Steam versions of the titles).

Re: Capcom Has No Plans To Infect The Nintendo Switch With Resident Evil "At The Moment"

Yamber

I think it’s understandable. RE7 relies heavily on atmosphere, an aspect that would be lost if you decided to play the game away from home. Capcom has already confirmed games for the Switch. It’s not like they’re snubbing the system. The game would be released a month after the other systems anyway. Which would really hurt the sales of it if they decided to release it on the Switch.
