Re: Review: Yurukill: The Calumniation Games - A Truly Bizarre Blend That Works Better Than It Should

Xyphon22

I was looking forward to this until I played the demo. There is way too much boring dialogue between the action (and I am even counting doing puzzles as "action"), and then the puzzles were all remarkably obvious and easy. It sounds like they might become more difficult, though, which would be good. The shmup part was actually my favorite part, but maybe that's because I'm not generally a shmup fan so I liked that it wasn't over-the-top difficult. I'm still likely to interested at a big discount, but that's about it.

Re: Game-Breaking Bug Discovered In Switch Online Version Of Kirby 64

Xyphon22

Yeah, I just hit this bug last night, but not in the same place. It was like a circular underwater arena and when Kirby froze I just kind of bounced around the circle going right through the boss whenever we met. It was funny and I just watched it for a couple minutes, but I think I'll stop until the patch hits.

Re: Soapbox: Chrono Cross Really Deserves To Come To Switch Before Chrono Trigger

Xyphon22

@Dogorilla It's been a while since I've played Cross and I only played it once so I could be misremembering, but I remember thinking there is almost no connection to Trigger until one particular moment probably about 3/4 through the game when there is suddenly a huge dump of connections at one point in the story. So that one section of the game will be more poignant if you've played Trigger before, but most of the game is perfectly fine to play this first.

Re: Anniversary: Night In The Woods Is Now Five Years Old

Xyphon22

Definitely one of the worst games I've ever played. I understand it's really not for me because I don't suffer from the things the game addresses, but there are other games that aren't for me either that are much better than this (Celeste was great, didn't really care for Gone Home but at least it was fine). I think "insufferable" that was used before is a good word for it.

Re: Guide: MLB The Show 22 Tech Test - Out Now On Switch, Here's How You Access It

Xyphon22

I played a game against the computer and it was fun. It obviously doesn't look amazing but it played great which is much more important. Except for the life of me I couldn't figure out how to throw the ball. Every out I got was either a flyout or a strikeout. If there was a grounder my fielder just held it until the runner reached first and it moved on to the next batter. Still managed to win, though.

Re: Talking Point: Everyone Has A Bad Game They Love, So What's Yours?

Xyphon22

When we were kids, my brother and I went all over the neighborhood for weeks doing whatever odd jobs people wanted us to do to earn the money to buy Skate or Die for the NES. Man, that game turned out to be awful, but we still loved it and played it all the time because of how much work went into earning it.

Re: Feature: Zelda II: The Adventure Of Link Taught Me The Value Of Perseverance

Xyphon22

This was the first game that I ever personally owned. I still remember my parents taking my brother and I to Toys R Us so we could each pick out a game, and I was drawn simply to the gold cartridge. Having to pick out the slip of paper, take it to the man behind the cage, and wait the agonizingly long 2-3 minutes for him to go find it was torture, but it was worth it. As such, even it it's pure nostalgia, this game will always hold a special place in my heart and I may be the only person in the world who puts it in their Top 5 Zelda games.

Re: Feature: The Legend Of Zelda Is The Robinson Crusoe Of Video Games

Xyphon22

This is, and almost assuredly always will be, not just my favorite Zelda game but my favorite video game of all time. And this article does a great job of detailing a lot of the reasons why. It was amazing and groundbreaking back then, and it is just as amazing to this day if you are willing to put the work into figuring it out.

Re: Nintendo Download: 28th May (North America)

Xyphon22

@Magician That's what I'm waiting for, too, but unfortunately things seem to be different on Switch. How many years has it been out now, and I'm still waiting for Skyrim to be $20 like it has been on every other system for what seems like a decade. Or even any kind of sale for the physical version.

Re: Reminder: Animal Crossing: New Horizon's Fishing Tourney Starts Today

Xyphon22

Does anyone know if the points stack over the multiple fishing tourneys? Like do you have to get 300 points in this one tourney to get all the prizes, or can you just get some this tourney and more the next tourney like you have been able to in past games? Because there is no way I am going to spend the time getting 300 points today. I have better things to do with my life.

Re: Guide: 8 Steps To Making Your Gaming Backlog A Thing Of The Past

Xyphon22

It helps to pay attention to the sales, even if you aren't buying yet. There are games that I really want to get on great sales, but I know that they are on sale a lot and so I don't have to get it yet. I really want to try Final Fantasy VII and the 50% off sale right now is really tempting, but I know Square Enix does these sales at least 3-4 times a year and so it will be around again, maybe for even less.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl #32 - Sonic The Hedgehog

Xyphon22

Voted for NA because it actually shows game stuff. Unless Robotnik actually does the Riverdance in the game when you get all the Chaos Emeralds (which I've never done), I'm not sure why he is doing it on the European cover.

Re: Review: World End Syndrome - A High School Summer Holiday Murder Mystery Love-In

Xyphon22

Played about an hour of the demo and got bored to tears. There was nothing to do except push A to advance the dialog. I'm all for VNs if there is actually something to do (I love the Ace Attorney and Zero Escape series), but this was horrible. The review makes it sound like only the prologue is like that, but the damage is done for me. Should have made a better demo.

Re: Review: Midnight Deluxe (Switch eShop)

Xyphon22

Sometimes I wonder if even the people running this site had a Wii U. They released Midnight and Midnight 2 on there long before 36 Fragments, and I came here to see if there is anything new in this game or if it is just the same levels. But this review doesn't even seem to know those first two games exist.

Re: Review: OPUS: The Day We Found Earth (Switch eShop)

Xyphon22

I downloaded this on my phone and played as much as I could for free. The gameplay is simple, but the story really brings you in. It definitely made me want to buy it on Switch so I can finish it and see what happens. You will get it for the story, not the gameplay, though.
